Azure Drake 2....except the meta is gone too far for it to work. Probably too slow for any constructed deck, but it's fun at least.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
IKR thought a few days ago.. would azure drake be playable today? and I got the the conclusion that.. no.. it wouldn't.
inb4 'What the hell is this?' meme with Azure Drake and Ethereal Conjurer. This card seems pretty good in spell+battlecry Shaman decks or possibly some highlander lists, but I struggle to see any wider applications.
The strength of azure drake in raza priest is solely due to it filling so many roles in the deck, a source of spell damage AND a dragon AND deck thinning is what makes the card.
This only has one of those traits, and it's the worst one. This is unlikely to see play anywhere, unless the elemental tag somehow becomes important.
This post is discussing the wild format.
I will definitely try this in Elemental Mage and Shaman with DK Jaina and Kalimos.
As I have said many times before, I am very anxious at any chance to make Spell Damage a thing, but not for this card. This is to be honest, straight up trash. Nobody is going to spend an extra 5 mana on a spell to deal 1 extra damage, the discover effect is nice, but not for 5 mana. This could have been a 4 mana 4/5 and it would have been okay, but as a 5 mana 4/4 it is just bad.

The ability isn't bad. It could be used as a way for any class to Discover a spell, although it's not that good for the Spell Damage since you typically want those to be as cheap as possible unless it's Malygos.
This seems really solid, it even has semi taunt because the oponent may want to destroy it before you play something.
Slower than Vulpera Scoundrel. Yes that's it. Just play Vulpera Scoundrel
What else it there is to say? It discovers a spell, which is good. But at 5 mana, which means you're taking a major risk here.
Unless casino dhunters are here, not likely to ever see play outside of being discovered itself.
Decent - but i only see this working out in Shaman, mostly Burn or Spell Damage Shaman.

Maybe to slow for some decks, but the fact that it is common could make this fit into budget spell-damage decks.
Might see play in highlander decks, but i'm sure that pre-nerf [cardAzure Drake would be too weak these days. The thing Steward of Scrolls got going for it is the fact it can discover a spell instead of drawing a card. But i feel like that's still not good enough. Also it's a elemental, and standard right now has almost no elemental synergy cards that this can profit from.
In wild: This feels too weak, even in elemental decks with a lot of synergy. There are just way better elementals out there.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Superb card! Azure Drake saw so much play that they HoF'd it. This is a slight twist, and very good.

Too slow. And the RNG is too big to be worth it to discover ANY spell :(. I doubt it will see any play.

Good but not excellent...
The new Azure Drake!!!! We have only one problem: right now this minion isn't enough to be competitive. Even if Azure Drake return I doubt it will see any play....like this card

Not as good as Azure Drake, but VERY strong in Midrange and Control decks.
You might as well say it doesn't have spell damage (except for stuff like Primordial Studies) cause you won't get to use it much. Then you realize it's a much weaker Big Ol' Whelp.
Related but unrelated, didn't Arcane Dynamo see play?
Not as great as Azure Drake, all the more because it does not have the dragon tag.

It's Azure Drake that discovers a card, and not draws a card.
Around 2 years ago before Azure Drake rotated my buddies who introduced me to this game said that Azure Drake is played in Miracle Rogue for the card draw, and not the spell damage (the spell damage was a nice bonus).
Discovering a card is not always as good as drawing a card from your deck, but being able to pull something that your opponent doesn't expect should be good, especially in a set that introduces a mechanic that's reliant on playing spells to activate.
It feels like playing this minion and then discovering a cheap removal spell is really strong, but that's not consistent enough to always work

Azure Drake! You're back! Good card, but maybe too fair for nowadays.
The comparison to Azure Drake is obvious, but I think this is probably worse than Drake because card draw is generally better than card generation in Hearthstone.
Looking forward to testing this one out in various spell damage decks since the archetype is seeing a lot of support this expansion.
Almost forgot about elementals as a tribe altogether. Good to see some more.
Was there any new or refreshed elemental synergy tho ...

A slightly worse azure drake. I reckon this will see some play across a few classes.
Ghost of Azure Drake returns. At least we get something similar, even if it's not a draw.
Mage minion in disguise. Shaman could use it too, but we know the spell quality divergence between those classes.
Great for getting spells to activate Spellburst- since it will probably be harder to balance spells and minions in your deck if you have a lot of spellburst minions.
Token Elemental of the set. Preeeeetty good, least it helps push a certain archetype other than elementals. Animated Avalanche is happy he has a friend.

It's almost like Azure Drake, but I don't think Drake would nearly be as prevalent in recent metas even with all of the standard dragon synergies. Drake is mostly outclassed by Big Ol' Whelp as Whelp has more stats and there isn't as much use for spell damage in standard. Steward of Scrolls is a worse version of Azure Drake as you'd rather have a card from your deck than a random one, and there is barely any elemental synergy in standard going into Scholomance (and the ones that exist aren't competitively viable). There are much cheaper ways to generate faster spells in standard like Wandmaker for Steward to ever be relevant.

I think this card would be a good fit in either of those decks.
Have very good stats for the effects, it can enable some tempo swings on later turns
Could be fun in a spell damage mage as it combines spell damage minion with spell discovery.

Eh, could be useful for spell damage synergy or chaos builds that require spells that didn't start in your deck.

Great Arena card, but doesn't seem like it'll have much use in constructed play.
Azure Drake but it's an elemental? I love it! Probably won't see play though, because I honestly don't know where I'd want to run it right now. No Elemental decks to take advantage of it.
