Everyone was afk but me and bigglesworth, but bigglesworth crashed it seems and then it was just me. i sold everything and went for the epic shifter combo, but they don't merge apparently didn't know that.
The more plausible way to triple Shifter Zerus is to play it before it starts shifting so you don't need to get three in a single turn. Other than that, I like that it won't triple immediately because I can imagine someone randomly getting a triple Deflect-o-Bot and it'd be worse.

I believe they only merge if you buy three Shifter Zeruses in the same round, before any of them change.

They do actually, if you play all 3 minions. Or when you already have 2 on board and you get 3rd off Zerus, when you play it, they combine. Didnt know that either until i had it happen to me.

This made me realize that a sandbox mode for battlegrounds where you just get to try dumb things like this would actually be quite fun. One other thing I would also personally like is an option to, once you die, continue playing against AI so that you can still further build up your comp and enjoy it a little while longer. There have been so many games where I was thoroughly enjoying building up my comp but then I died before I could get most of the enjoyment out of it. I don't think many people will actually want a feature like this but I would personally like it and it would make me feel less frustrated about losing.
Kripp has done some videos recently featuring private lobby BG runs. They did some homemade rules like minion limits or level limits. Looked kind of interesting. You would just need seven friends who were all willing to self enforce some fun rules.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
