Riot Made A Huge Mistake

So if anybody follows the discussion around Irelia Azir on redit you'll know that Riot basically said its totally fine and there are no plans to nerf it because it's fun easy to play and brings in new players.

They also states that internally they believe it has a 52% winrate not sure where they got these numbers from because on mobalitics it's actually showing record high winrates the likes we've never seen before in this game.

I'm talking multiple variants with a 59 bordering on 60% win rate which has never happened before .

Riot how is this okay?

One casual spin of ladder will have you facing this deck over and over and over again and sure you might be able to counter them perfectly one game, but they will roll you the next or the one after that till the matchup grinds you down and sucks the fun out of the game.

I'm not the only one who feels this way Swim and Mogwai have spoken out on how short sighted this decision was.

Riot nerf this deck seriously, it's token generation is simple too high

    Was 8-18 in three days of being in gold. About 8 or 9 of those losses came from Az / Ire. 
    made a Az / Ire deck today I’m 7-2 do you think I got that much better over night?

     

    HEY RIOT YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENED TO ELDER SCROLLS LEGENDS AFTER THE OBLIVION PATCH............ yah they merced their own game.

    playing Az / Ire isn’t fun to me but I’ll ride this dumb shit to plat if it will help them convince to nerf this crap. I

    For the record I don’t want the deck destroyed. And if you enjoy playing it more power to you but my wins feel hollow and I literally feel bad getting wins with this deck I don’t think their is much anyone can do even when they get cards that should stop or slow me down I bulldoze them.

    I’ll pick up stupid amounts of wins for the next few weeks if they don’t nerf this I’ll consider finding a new way to waste time until they come to their damn senses

    I'd believe Riot's stats more over Mobalytics because they have access to more players and probably a better compiled version of them too. I'm more curious as to why they won't nerf the deck when it has 20% play rate, like what's the breakpoint? They even said TF/Fizz at 15% is completely normal as well. I think they should really realize that 20% play rate and 52.5% WR is pretty nuts for a deck that supposedly is being countered.

    Also, I feel like I kind of understand where they're coming from not nerfing Azir/Irelia. A lot of people said that the meta before was boring with Trundle Liss Control and Nasus Thresh being played everywhere, so I'm assuming they're also seeing into that even if TLC isn't doing so hot rn (mainly because of Azir/Irelia). Buffs to Landmark decks are greatly appreciated as well. But I'll probably reserve my judgement whether doing so is a stupid idea or whatever until the next patch comes out.

    Yeah but that applied to almost every other meta deck in runeterra. There’s a reason why they are the meta deck lol

    I dont agree that other meta decks are as strong. I like to play Malphite Thaliyah largely considered to be the worst champions or deck archetype (landmarks) and I feel fine going up again Nasus, Dragons, ez/Draven or every other aggro deck but Irelia/Azir I'd put myself down as 30/70 against me.

    I wish I could find exactly what Riot said when they were talking about nerfing TF/Fizz, but even for that deck, they waffled and claimed that it wasn't really that high on playrate or winrate and that it was the most skill intensive deck in the game, etc, etc.

    In other words, they were claiming TF/Fizz wasn't really that bad. For TF/Fizz. The most powerful deck in the history of the game.

    So, why are we surprised they don't think Azir/Irelia is that bad?

    The real problem is not just token generation. The deck simply ignores attack token mechanic. It might be not problem if they are only 1/1's but with Landmarks + cards that gives attack to tokens like Azir/Inspiring Marshal that free attacks became three 4/1's at worst which is 12 (+ 1 from sand warrior) total damage without an attack token which you have to block or spend at least 2 mana for a spell like Death Lotus. It is so much to spend for an attack that doesn't require an attack token and there is also more, They can swap allies with Irelia too with quick attack.

    All of those cards are fair by itself, I really think like that. But together, they are just dumb.
