For 9-mana and  a beefy body, it didn't see much play.  For 5-mana and no body, I really like this as removal, but damn.....doesn't Warrior already have enough AOE?

It’s possible that this card can replace a copy of Brawl where decks run 2 of them, I’m just trying to think what type of whirlwind effect they use instead, like you wouldn’t use this along Warpath unless necessary

This right here is the problem with doing a board clear cycle when one of the classes is already completely saturated with good removal.

Since they already took huge creative liberties with what constitutes a board clear with Plague of Madness, they really should have done something different with this one as well.

Basically a bigger Sleep with the Fishes. I don't remember if that card was played, but this might be. The problem is that it competes with Brawl, which is a staple for control warriors. But Plague of Wrath seems good and worth competing, because it can clear the entire board - something Brawl doesn't (because it leaves one minion left still). Just with some help like Warpath.

the difference between a 5 mana card to a 9 mana card is huge basically. it comes much sooner it means you can play other cards more easily with it like warpath or actually play it when it matters.

sure Brawl is better as stand alone but this is controllable and you run warpath anyway so.. might as well..

Pretty good of course, would be more interesting in other classes as it feels redundant.

Could be comboed with stuff like Whirlwind and Neferset Ritualist for a decent swing ...

Interesting card.  I'm wondering if this is better than brawl or worth running a one of of both in a proactive warrior deck like bomb warrior.  I can think of a lot of instances where it can be better than brawl by leaving you with a stronger board.

I can see it being used in some tempo-y decks with whirlwind/inner rage kinds of cards but its also even more board clearing for control warrior.

    It should see some play.

Seems very strong. There aren't ad many whirlwinds as there used to be, but even landing this on two good minions is value

Synergies well with 2 of Dr.Boom's hero powers, plus Warpath.

I could be completely wrong, but it seems quite good.

Okay, here me out here: Swarm Deathrattle Warrior. It's not a good idea... but it's a good idea!

    Better call Thrall!

Sleep with the Fishes was heavily used in Un'Goro Taunt Warrior and in DMH. If only we saw a copy of the plague* card earlier, Scourgelord Garrosh would have been better before Dr. Boom, Mad Genius was released.

Sleep with the Fishes is played in dead man's hand warrior in wild, not a strong deck, but the card is mandatory in that deck

Edit: whoops, it was already answered

Regarding the comparison to Brawl and Sleep with the Fishes, IMO Plague of Wrath is worse. Fishes' selling point is the mana cost, period. It's an answer to early boards that you can't brawl yet. Brawl is great at resetting most board states without requiring a setup card like whirlwind.

While there are certainly situations where you would rather have Plague of Wrath (EG 2 large damaged enemy minions), the fact that it usually requires a setup and costs 5 makes it the worst of the three: it's conditional and expensive.

On the bright side we're comparing it to some of the best removal tools in the game, so this is like coming in third in the Olympics. It's still basically a reverse-Equality, and that card still sees play post-nerf.

I always thought King Mosh's battlecry was wasted on that 9-mana body, so I'm happy to see it repackaged as a spell. Control Warrior might love this, though the fact that you might have to play cards like Whirlwind or Warpath to activate this, on top of its high mana cost, could give players second thoughts on including this in their deck. Especially since it competes with Brawl for the 5-mana spot.

Why would it need the 5 Mana slot if you need to combo it with another cheaper damage spell anyway?

You know, Warpath will rotate next year, so Whirlwind + Plague of Wrath will be an option.

yeah what I meant by replacement was "Would you run Whirlwind just for Plague of Wrath?" There will be situations where you will draw Whirlwind but not Plague of Wrath and Whirlwind just kinda sits in your hand where as Warpath itself is a semi-boardclear. I know Warpath will rotate next year so im hoping that another type of Whirlwind effect comes out with Plague of Wrath

Whirlwind was worthy to use Sleep with the Fishes. So why not with also Plague of Wrath. Also remember that Paladin always uses Equality and Wild Pyromancer together and it is worthy too.

I will say that I do remember that Whirlwind and Sleep with the Fishes was used back then but it was also a 3 mana combo and used Primarily against aggressive type decks. However I would not use the example of Equality and Wild Pyromancer  Wild Pyromancer can be used in more than just Equality, Pyro can be used with Sound the Bells! for Multiple Whirlwind effects, Pyro can be utilized with buff spells like Blessing of Kings and back then  Spikeridged Steed and Pyro can just simply be used with Consecration The difference is you can use Wild Pyromancer in more than One situation, He is Flexible compared to Whirlwind.

Just to reiterate, I Think Plague of Wrath is a good card, I think you will see a 1x copy of them in Warrior, However I am not convinced that people will run a copy of Whirlwind just to get this combo off, If you cannot list me other examples of where Whirlwind can be useful other than Plague of Wrath in a Warrior deck that wouldn't be utilized by another card in this Standard Rotation, My opinion will stay the same

sure, There are some mechanics which you can use with Whirlwind, The best option is Acolyte of Pain of course. Execute is another card you want with Whirlwind. Grommash Hellscream is one of the card you can use with if you had to use your Inner Rages desperately in a part of the game before. Bloodsworn Mercenary is an option too if you need a cheper version of Warpath and warpath is a waste for Bloodsworn Mercenary most of the time because using Warpath continously deals with little deathrattles so well and you won't want to kill your own minions for her.

Enrage Warrior isn't a thing right now but can be a thing in time. Also What I really want to highlight here is that Warpath will rotate next year which I already said that above. That's the important thing here. When Warpath would be rotated, Plague of Wrath will stay in standard and Whirlwind will be only tool for Plague of Wrath unless Team 5 designs a new card like it.

Some cards can have more potential than you think sometimes. Whirlwind itself is such a card. They wait the time they could be viable and then acts well. Reckless Flurry was like that before for example.
