So once you have played 9 (1) drops, you get to have Lightborn Cariel, which then gives your Silverhand recruit +2/+2 ?
Not sure I'm seeing the value here ..not to mention slow ... but hey, maybe we are on for a surprises and it'll revive Dude'ladin on Standard

The reward is significantly weaker than say, the Priests 'destroy the enemy hero' reward, but this is also much much easier to progress through (Assuming the same minion that is played in the first set of 3 can also be played in the second or third set).

This wants to be played in an aggro deck that can play fast and close out with two 3/3s from the hero power each turn, and I'm not sure this is good enough.

I also don't think you make a dude deck for this, maybe lothraxion, but just rely on hero power alone to close out games.

Needs some additional support, but baseline is nice... we have already First Day of School to help with this

I'm getting The Marsh Queen vibes from this!... and that's not a good thing. It's good that it's not limited to 1-cost Minions, so 1 cost spells like First Day of School or Conviction (Rank 1) will count, but filling your deck with a bunch of 1-cost things runs into the problem of their value dropping off very quickly and needing to lots of card draw to pump them out.

Strange mix of 1 drop paladin and Recruit paladin. Dude side seems good but not sure the 2 sides overlap enough. Maybe if another 1 drop is printed that specifically supports or summons Recruits.  Maybe upgraded hero power is enough with Loxrathion also in the deck. Overall seems good just the 1 drop requirement is odd.

Honestly, had the reward ended with the upgraded hp, it would still be one of the best revealed quests so far.

The point is that the quest is very easy to complete. First day of school already completes the first tier and you only need another 3 more 1 costed cards to do the next. The fact that the end reward buffs your dudes is mere icing on the cake, ensuring that your opponent can never just ignore these things.

And with cards like Lothraxion the Redeemed waiting on turn 5, is there any doubt that this deck will work? Whether it gets to tier 1 is not the question. The deck looks solid enough to climb up ranks, unlike the other quests revealed so far.

Midrange and Dude paladin were my favorite archetypes. So i'll prolly craft this even if it isn't good.

The quest itself is initiative focused and can be completed quickly (which I like). So far, the main engine will be First Day of School which can complete a tier by itself. I can also see this with the secret package since secrets are 1 cost spells themselves so you get some benefit if they're drawn instead of played by the sword. Then Lothraxion the Redeemed, as the top end, that or the hammer. Then rely on dudes to finish.

The main problem I'm seeing is the card draw. With the need of so many 1 cost cards, you will run out of gas really quickly. Not sure if the cycle package of pally would be enough. It would be insane if Divine Favor or Crystology were still in standard.

This really is incredibly strong, but I feel like we'll need more cheap draw to get it online as fast as possible. We have First Day of School to complete a step of the quest by itself, but that's about it. Crystology, Salhet's Pride, where art thou?

Well .... at fist glance i thought this was way to weak and slow, but to finish the quest line you realy do not need to do that much.

Seems pretty easy to get to Lightborn Cariel but depending on how the meta is going to shape and what other cards will support this Archetype this could either be way to slow and don't see play at all or it could be a decent deck that could annoy you with the Recruits.

yeah no, spending your turn 1 on the quest, having to play a bunch of weak cards only to then get a card to support your actual gameplan which is summoning a bunch of dudes.

This is literally just Un'goro Quest Hunter except somehow worse

    I tried having fun once.

    It was awful.

Valid Point but I found that (post-nerf) very clunky when it was still in the meta. So still not sold on it.

I don't see this working out very well. To fill your deck with enough one drops that you complete the quest consistently makes it so that you are relying on just those 3/3's to carry the rest of the game. I think it isn't enough bang for the buck.

Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.

I'm not sold on it. While Paladins run quite a large number of 1 drops in their decks even without this questline the reward just isn't worth it and all those 1-drops won't win you the game either. On top of that, you need to draw all those 1 drops as well Maybe when First Day of School rotates to Wild and gets unnerfed.

While not amazing, some Secret Paladin weirdoes could just slot this in an extra late game push with the late game equivalent of a Lord Jaraxxus hero power. Let's not forget that, between First Day of School, Invalid Deck ID and all the secrets, you already have enough fuel in some decks for Rise to the Occasion to be workable. In fact, I'd argue the worst thing about this card is the first reward, since it's in conflict with Sword of the Fallen.

Out of all the quests revealed so far, this one is my favourite, not in terms of pure power (which frankly, it doesn't have, Rise to the Occasion is a very balanced card), but in terms of flavour and ability to fit the class it's on.

PS: The Avenge the Fallen art is amazing.

Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)

I think this is why they re-nerfed First Day of School. The value of this card is very high, but it will take you awhile to get there. I think it will be a pretty well-balanced card.

First Day of School is a single card that completes an entire phase of the quest by itself, so that is a plus. I imagine this could run into a similar problem as The Marsh Queen where your deck struggles from trying to complete the quest consistently with a bunch of 1-drops, but also not wanting to fill up your deck with nothing but 1 cost cards. Maybe with First Day of School that problem wont be as big, but I am still doubtful.

Honestly I think the 5 mana final reward is the big downfall of the questlines. I really love the design with mini rewards in the middle of the quest, but the final 5 mana just feels like too much.

This, the 5 mana final rewards seems a bit of a stretch. Maybe we are just too used to the lasts quests where we got the reward instantly.

Really amazing pay off... But that is going to be more difficult to pull off in Standard as opposed to Wild.  In Wild, this could find it's way into Odd Paladin... but only for niche and/or meme players

Summoning 2 5/3 dudes with divine shield looks really worth with Pursuit of Justice and Lothraxion the Redeemed, add +1 attack with Warhorse Trainer and you have a sweet cancer deck as odd pally was.

This seems a lot weaker than the other Questlines I've seen so far. If I remember correctly the upgraded hero power is summon 2 recruits, so maybe summon 2 2/2s is pretty good.

Don't forget that you can play Secrets, as well, to fulfill the Questline. Some kind of Secret-Dude crossover archetype?

I don't think this fits into a traditional Dude Paladin archetype - you'd effectively lose your first turn to play it - but it does seem compelling as a Control Paladin win condition. There's already a lot of support for this (e.g. First Day of School, Righteous Protector, and a bunch of secrets that can be good for control), and with only minimal extra Dude support (Lothraxion the Redeemed and Pursuit of Justice) you could get a hero power that generates two 5/3 Divine Shield units each turn. Particularly since the new Lightbringer's Hammer seems to be driving a control paladin archetype, that's absolutely where I'd try this.

I think it lacks some support, even though First Day of School as an obvious choice, because while you attempt to complete this quest an aggro deck is already killing you, need some extra taunts and draw to survive the tempo loss of just playing 1 cost cards for several turns

Probably the worst new Quest and that says a lot, because I consider them all to be bad. Not that it is too difficult to complete the Quest requirements, but the reward is so meh.

I think this quest is meant to help bridge the archetypes between bubble paladin and dude paladin.

I'm sure this quest archetype will be very aggro in nature... and I hate it...

Luckily team 5 printed a ton of anti-aggro this expansion

I'm not big on this, mainly because I think you'd rather be playing better aggressive cards than diluting your deck down a bit to make absolutely sure you can complete this. Yes, First Day of School completes an entire phase by itself, but having to rely on that seems sketchy.
