Pack opening - Results

Hey all, since this is the second day of the new expansion, most of us probably opened their packs and I wonder how did it go for you?

I was able to open 120 packs (13 free + 107 w/gold) and get 8 non-golden legendaries:

Kryxis the Voracious

Kael'thas Sinstrider

The Stonewright

Kel'Thuzad, the Inevitable

Lady Darkvein

Artificer Xy'mox

Theotar, the Mad Duke

Orion, Mansion Manager

The first two were from the free packs. Other than that I got diamond Murloc Holmes from paid RT and The Countess as the lvl 20 reward, which, along with other two free legendaries (Prince Renathal and Sire Denathrius), puts me to 12 total. I´m missing only 5 epics from the set. This is one of my best pack openings afaik. I got both mage legendaries, which I wanted, so I was pretty lucky I guess.

How about you? Did you manage to get what you wanted? Happy with results? If you haven´t opened yet, good luck!

This time, I bought the preorder mega bundle and the new tavern pass, opened 260 packs in total (of which 25 were standard packs) and I am still missing 2 legendaries (Ara'lon and Pelagos). There are still 5 free standard packs and 1 single legendary in front of me on the rewards track, so completing this expansion will probably take care of itself I think. Otherwise I could craft the last remaining legendary (if I am impatient) or wait for the upcoming seasons reward packs.

FYI, the new Sir Finley mercenary is bugged. He does not appear at the campfire, cannot be encountered via the mysterious stranger and task 2 is bugged if you did get his first task at launch. Apparently, Team5 has disabled him now.

Using 8100 gold, and hoarding 19 packs from season reward and brawl, I managed to put up exactly 100 packs.

Got 8 legends, and showered with 25 epics. That's the most lucky pull I ever had. IDK, lucky or not, I still haven't pulled any golden legendary for a long time now. Maybe lucky enough, because those 5 of 8 legends were opened so close together in 20 consecutive packs (1 in 4 packs).

But now I was faced with a dilemma, since I can complete most of the achievements. And the moment when I saw them, it's gonna be a very grindy one. Like summon 200 imps with 1 legendary card Rafaam? That's already 50 games to pull off.

EDIT. And don't forget to finish Murloc Holmes if you haven't. The refund window is until 5th. And it was one of the fastest achievements to get (And probably the most useless legendary ever). Even if you have to guess 3 of them correctly. Card in opponent's starting hand, hand, & deck. Look closely to the cards they played earlier turns. I was able to pull this off, because my opponent play those Neptulon Cheat Priest deck.

I though I remembered when you said you have a ridiculous amount of gold sitting, enough to get you packs to complete the next set. I don't really understand the needs to buy the bundle anymore. And of course, had to get the least useful legendaries in both The Countess & Stewart the Steward. Whenever I get some luck with the number the quality will then be in question.

Oh well, can't really complain too much since I got rafaam, likely one of the most useful legendary week 1. Implock have been practically winning everything, but being an aggro deck that's hardly unexpected in the first few weeks.

60 packs opened (total of 8 saved up + 5200 gold)

i got Kryxis the Voracious, Kael'thas Sinstrider, Stewart the Steward, Kel'Thuzad, the Inevitable and a Golden Decimator Olgra. In terms of legendaries i got some pretty good openings, just a shame i got pretty much all the bad epics (*ahem Sinfueled Golems*, and i'm missing a LOT of good epics. 

Also from the rewards track random legendary at like lvl 20 ish, i got Huntsman Altimor. And i got the rewards track as usual, so i got the diamond Murloc Holmes.

At least i'm able to play a couple of decks day 1, so i'm happy.

Simple, I like the warrior hero portrait and I do not like to change things up during the year, which probably means I will buy the preorder mega bundle for the third expansion as well. However, I do notice that the window between purchase and expansion launch date is getting smaller and smaller. This time around I bought the preorder just 48 hours before launch. In the long past, I would buy the preorder bundle almost immediately when announced.

If I still play Hearthstone next year, I should really make better use of my ingame currency because my stockpile of arcane dust also keeps growing. I really understand your thought process (or curiosity), because I am struggling more and more to justify this purchase. I already succeeded to stop buying both preorders, so that was a nice improvement compared to last year.

I had a similar internal struggle to @NebuchadnezzarHS this time around. I have a mountain of gold (38K) and quite a bit of dust saved up (60+k) which would have gone a long way (had I chosen not to pre-order).

I love the game, and play a lot of it, but the cost is starting to get to me.

I bought both bundles this time, but I bought them on August 1st - as I have been struggling internally with the annual/recurring dollar cost of HS for a little while. I can afford the game, but it just increasingly feels like lot to spend on something like a digital card game. I know that where have been rumors and whispers from people like Dean Ayala about moving to a 4 expansions per year cadence, which just sounds insane (and not in a great way) to me.

I opened 225 packs yesterday (bundles + free + 80 that I bought with gold). I opened all but 3 legendaries in the set, so mathematically I did slightly better than the "1 legendary per 20 packs" (rough) average. I got Imp King Rafaam from Level 20 on the rewards track, so now I just need Pelagos and Theotar (the Mad Duke).

Overall, I am happy. I bought the bundles and the tavern pass because I like the cosmetics and playing HS (along with a couple other games) is a major hobby for me which I enjoy, but if HS starts drifting towards more and more frequent expansions, I will very likely tap out and just use gold to fund packs (and over time my collection will diminish in its completeness, but I am OK with that).

I had the most gold I've saved for most expansions this time. So I did pretty good. About 50ish packs opened so far.

After thatPelagos, Murloc Holmes, Orion, Mansion Manager. I'm not on the paid track so the Holmes is welcome, fun to play with that card.

I still have enough dust to craft 2. Not sure what exactly I want. Envy is hilarious though. Can steal some very fun stuff. Shut down a few mages stealing the new KT because they ignored him. Oops. 

Usually I'd be the one to rant but this time I got so lucky, I have to brag:

I treated myself to the golden pack bundles (rank 1 and rank 2) as well as the bigger preorder and - lo and behold - got 6 golden legendaries out of the golden packs (+1 from normal packs)!!!

Including the preorder legs I finished with 11 golden legendaries (Kryxis, Sesselie, Altimor, Orion, Stewart, Harvester of Envy, Stonewright, Olgra, Remornia, Theotar and Finley)

I'd argue this was my best opening by far! (And I tested the Golden legendary pity timer before with 397 packs (same exp) without opening one...)

125 packs, only 4 legendaries, but hey at least one of them was Theotar, so I can't be mad (but he is)
