What Have You Been Playing Recently? June 2023 Edition

Submitted 10 months, 1 week ago by

Seems about time that we have a thread to talk about the random games we've all been playing!

I'll get things started off for June 2023.

I've been dabbling in Path of Exile, aiming to get some more seasonal challenges done while we wait for Exilecon to announce the new season (and more PoE 2 info). I also recently was playing Diablo 4, though didn't really enjoy the experience (it will be better in a couple years certainly).

I've also had an opportunity to check out the new F1 23 game which feels like a solid improvement over F1 22. The new lighting looks fantastic and all the cars look better too. Small UI updates and overall better menu flow makes navigating with a steering wheel better. Regretfully I didn't get to write up a review for the game yet.

I'm hoping to get a chance to login to World of Warcraft Classic over the next couple of weeks since Midsummer Fire Festival is taking place and those achievements will be needed for that sweet Violet Proto-Drake =D

Also that Final Fantasy demo is calling my name. This weekend was absolute chaos though so I didn't get a chance to touch it.

I'm trying to net at least two Hearthstone wins a day with Rogue so I can get the 1.000 wins portrait within the next few months, but by far the most of my game time goes into my second playthrough of The Witcher 3. Last time I did everything on instinct, now I've looked up guides for the best builds and stuff on the net. This game will forever define my perception of what is a good game for AAA prices.

(also small hopes for early teasers about the Wild update that comes with the second HS expansion this year)

I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?

Hearthstone, the one and only game I play (and have time for).

I am currently dabbling into the other game modes to complete as many achievements as possible whilst passing level 300 on the Rewards Track later today.

I have always been a Diablo fan, but I simply do not have the diskspace to install D4 now, so I will wait awhile and be patient. Perhaps during the next sale, I will finally pick it up together with a new HD or PC ^_^

I've recently started a game of Distant Worlds 2 (with my usual huge galaxies and far apart from other empires). Been wanting to learn this game a bit after playing DW:Universe for some time in the past.

Age of wonders 4 seems a bit lackluster from what i'm reading. Only played it a bit. Everything that involves a hard "META" really puts me off, so i won't be playing this for a while.

When i'm bored of DW, i usually spend some hours in Rimworld before coming back. 350 mods really change the game for good.

Marvel snap i haven't played in a while, since i gave them an email about the UI annoyances that really make me throw the phone out the window. Like i told them, i'm not coming back until they do something about it. It's been a few months and nothing. Oh well...

Also sad about not having enough time or mood to play Spacebourne 2. The game receives lots of updates but nothing that is close to the systems i want to see improved (maybe except a few bugs here and there). It seems to me it keeps getting too complicated without things getting fleshed out properly in a timely manner. Nevertheless, the game is truly awesome and i plan on coming back to it soon. Hopefully.

I was interested in Age of Wonders 4; wasn't planning on playing much multiplayer, though. Not sure what it is about 4X games but I just wade around in the kiddie pool with medium-difficulty bots, playing all the factions until I get bored. Probably not worth the $50, then.

As for the topic at-hand, I've been playing Diablo IV all day every day lol. Taking a break from my Druid to work on a Rogue - they are dramatically different playstyles, so that's fun.

I finally uninstalled Hearthstone. I spend too much on the game for the small amount of enjoyment it offers me, and with our Custom Card Competitions having closed shop for now, it was time to make it official. No more of this "I'm taking a break" while it sits there and entices me to return; a hard cutoff was necessary.

I also quite literally just now uninstalled Marvel Snap from my phone. I just can't maintain a healthy, balanced relationship with the game: it's still very fun and enjoyable to play, but everything else about it pulls at the wrong parts of my brain. I play too much and spend too much out of FOMO or whatever and then I'm burnt out come the next month; I needed to divorce myself from the situation completely.

Right now I am away from home so I am mostly playing Hearthstone and Pokemon Masters EX on my Phone. This is good as it saved me from some hard save file corruption shenanigans happening in Payday 2 this days.

On the switch I have been continuin Tears of The Kingdom (Already "beated it", but still going a bit) and Advance Wars Reboot Camp. Got it before Zelda, but it got eclipsed before I could finish the second campaign. Also getting some extra pokemon to get into Scarlet from home without emptying my save files from other games, but taking my sweet time.

When I get to use my laptop for something other than work, even though it is rally low end, I get to play some Mini-Metro/Mini-Railways, Wargroove, Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic (old games I still come back too) and then I went through and gave a chance to Pawnbrarian wich really feels good. Right now, I am thinking on playing some old disney games from my childhood if I get bored, like Treasure Planet Battle at Procyon (Excelent game) or the Pirates of the Caribbean at worlds end (have never come back to it, so I hope it is as fun as I remember). Lastly If I get lucky and this PC runs Castle Crashers (As it has problems with Wargroove I do not think so) I will get to try it too, as it has been on my backlog for a long time.

Been away from my computer for a few days while I'm house- and dog-sitting, but I brought my PlayStation 5. Decided to start God of War: Ragnarok finally, and...I don't know what it is, but I can't stay motivated to keep playing on. I'm constantly taking breaks to browse on my phone or switching to Netflix for a bit.

Honestly, I blame the demo for Final Fantasy XVI: played it before starting Ragnarok, and I'm more interested in that than I am a game I've been sitting on for a long while. Guess I'll end up buying that when I get home...not that I'm close to done with God of War: I looked it up, and I'm only on chapter 6 of 17 D:

Throughout my life, I have discovered 4 favorite games that have brought me immense joy. These games span different genres and experiences, but they all share one common thread - they are genuinely fun.

First on my list is Lineage, a classic MMORPG that has captivated me with its vast open world and endless adventures. The sense of exploration and camaraderie with fellow players is truly exhilarating.

Next, Diablo holds a special place in my heart. This action RPG never fails to immerse me in its dark and atmospheric universe, filled with epic battles and valuable loot. The thrill of defeating challenging bosses and finding rare items is unparalleled.

For a more creative outlet, The Sims allows me to build virtual lives and design dream homes. The simulation gameplay and the ability to shape the lives of my virtual characters have kept me entertained for countless hours.

When it comes to competitive multiplayer, Counter-Strike is my go-to choice. The intense firefights, strategic teamwork, and fast-paced gameplay make each match an adrenaline-filled experience.

I've been playing a lot of Fallout: New Vegas over the past week or so.

For a really long time, I've also been in the middle of beating all of the scenarios in Roller Coaster Tycoon.
