Do you like the way "story" is created for hearthstone?

All this goofeyness?

Personally I would prefer another approach with stories closer to the warcraft franchise.

One alliance vs. Horde expension is, what I'm waiting for since hs release.

HS is pretty light and fun as general mood, even the more "dark" expansion set are at best spooky but nothing more.

It would probably never become too serious.

Well i don't mind a light atmosphere, although i admit seeing the city of Dalaran stolen by a gang of weirdos in RoS made me cringe.

I'd have preferred if they simply got away with some artifact, not the whole city defeating the Kirin Tor and the very Council of Six: that's just silly.

In general i don't mind tho, because the serious side of it is still there in the theme of single cards, eg. each Old God, Tirion Fordring, etc. It's not all reduced to silliness.

I suspended my disbelief over Dalaran being stolen because I was interested in seeing how the story would play out, and besides, its not like the Council of Six were pushovers in the solo adventure.

I also like the idea of using the Tavern Brawl to establish the storyline, it helps casual players understand the story through gameplay.

In terms of story, Hearthstone likes to use “what if” scenarios that pay homage to the main story in a decent way. An example would be KotFT; “What if Jaina followed Arthas after purging Strathlehome?” The main heroes were reimagined as Death Knights and the other legendaries were bosses that could be found in the area.

Overall, I don’t mind this silly style of storytelling, it keeps things interesting and the possibilities are huge. Maybe a Alliance vs Horde expansion may come out, but we already have the Grand Tournament lol

This ain't no place for a hero

If you expect serious story lines you are in for a disappointment, even back in naxx the storyline was goofy and funny so, don't illusion yourself.

    What!? There's a story?

Oh, and don't expect any strong connections to Warcraft.  After all, they removed "Heroes of Warcraft" quite a while ago.

Warcraft writing has gotten so terrible I prefer this.  At least the characters are consistent

I enjoy the lightheartedness, beyond that hearthstone does touch upon some deeper storylines and exclusive introductions to new lore characters such as Lunara and the league of explorers (Reno, Finley and Elise).
Eluding to deeper plots and hints such as Tirion Fordring - came out long before legion and I'm unsure if it was planned but his mechanics are a large giveaway to his and the Ashbringers fate.
Makes me look closer at card mechanics and artwork from a lore standpoint, that's the only example I can think of for the moment but I'm sure there are more.

I enjoy the "what if" expansions like Knights of the Frozen thrones but I'd also like to see more storylines expanded upon, things they can't focus on in WoW for the time being.
It's fantastic to see concepts fleshed out in hearthstone such as the Mean streets of Gadgetzan, incredibly set the scene for what could be added in-game in the future

    Let me light the way.

I do like that they make their own story and introduce new lore characters, if it would be just a copy of WOW, i think that would be rather boring. Dont get me wrong, incorporating WOW lore is great and has been done several times with great success, but do your own thing as well.

One thing i am a bit worried about is that some stories might be too "basic", for lack of better word. Year of the Dragon seems quite good so far tho, i just hope that the climax in the 3rd expansion wont be something totally predictable and boringly disappointing. If they do it right this year, i think they set themselves on a great path going forward.

Very true - i kinda like that they do their own thing and not just WoW Lore - like you said it would be boring to see the same story you saw playing WoW - so i like it very much that they bring in New Characters and Storylines.

Well i sure hope too that the 3rd Expansion is gonna surprise us even more but i guess at least some little things are predictable - but we will have to wait and see!

Even though the 'story' in Hearthstone isn't all that impressive, I love the fun and goofyness of it. There are already so many games, movies and tv shows with deep and serious stories, and while I can be a sucker for those, I like that for a bit of contrast I can kinda turn my brain off when it comes to the story aspect of Hearthstone and just enjoy the sillyness of it. I really like what they've done in the year of the dragon so far since they gave a lot of cards and characters we knew and loved more personality while still keeping it fun and simple.
