Sidedecks system for specialist format

Submitted 4 years, 11 months ago by

Hello there!

As you know, the specialist format allows players to have similar decks with only 5 different cards. I was wondering if it would be possible (or even a good idea?) to have the possibility to create "versions" of a deck.

The idea is simple : on a deck page, you have the main list, with explanation on the left side, and maybe it would be a good idea to have "delta lists" (probably under the main deck, on the right side), where you just have the few cards that can be changed (with -1/-2 and +1/+2 next to them) plus a title above them, "Against Warrior", "More aggressive", "lowcost", you get the idea.

The cherry on the cake would be to be able to copy the deck code of alternative decklists.

Love the site so far!

I don't see much of a point to this until/unless Specialist events and tourneys become more mainstream. As it stands, the vast overwhelming majority of players won't ever play the format so there's no point in them learning about or advising others on sideboard options. It'd be a hassle to implement for something that would just remain blank for most deck submissions anyway, and can be addressed in the deck description/guide if you really want to.

When they first announced the specialist format, I was super pumped for it and was theorycrafting ways we could make use of it on decks. I wanted to build in support because of all the tournament list sharing we will end up doing.

With the format looking like it may not even last half a year, I'm not sure if it is worth putting time into making it a thing. Definitely still something I want to look into though.
