Submitted 4 years, 9 months ago by

Please, anyone, give me any advice againts quest mage. I only play aggro, because i have a really small chance to win againts it. I put an Eater of Secrets to my decks, so i can finish them, but it's not enough.(Addational info: Rank4-5:I played jade druid, then i switched to murloc shaman, and now odd paladin)

I literally don't have any prolbems with other decks. Only this archetype give me brain cancer with it's interaction with Archmage Vargoth(5 addational turn in a row. Sounds balanced). And other, and most of all, those idiotic, disgusting Frost Nova. Those five Vargoth couldn't be possible if the mage wouldn't have had 5(always feels like 99999 piece of) Frost Nova, by discovering it trough Magic Trick, [Hearthstone Card (Primodial Glyph) Not Found], or simply given by [Hearthstone Card (Arcane cyclone) Not Found].

It's sound just whining, but this deck disgust me, and sometimes makes me hate the wild ladder(otherwise i love MUCH more than the current standard). Even the dreaded big priest now looks like a bad meme deck for me.

What class are you playing OP? With all of the freezes available to mage on top of Ice block in wild, you might be better off playing an aggro deck that runs a significant burn or weapon component (rogue, shaman, warrior) rather than something minion-based like Zoo.

Full disclosure, I don't regularly play wild.

I am unsure what kind of Quest Mage you refer to: the currently most frequent Quest Mage does NOT run Ice Block, unless discovered ofc. Either way hard teching for it is usually pretty bad.

All in all, meta Aggro decks should be favored against it, with no need of further tech cards.

Maybe Loatheb, but you should be running it already in your Aggro deck.

Some extra damage from hand (spells, weapons, so that freeze effects won't easily stop them) may also help.

Surely in some games Miracle decks get lucky and smash you no matter what, but that's also why they are called Miracle in the first place.

I play murloc shaman in the ladder mostly, and literally all kind of quest mage is problem: And now the cyclone/aracane giant tempo mage is more popular, but I run into an exodia quest mage pretty often, and yesterday a "make 5 vargoth, play the time warp, get 5 turns in a row, and play arane missles)

Well, it's not an easy matchup, even when favored, but I feel you're doing something wrong in your take against them.

And/or you actually fell against a lucky turn for them, where you couldn't push enough damage, and they could freeze your board optimally each turn. But it's not always the case, as their freeze effects are finite, however numerous. While you, as Aggro, should be able to unleash quite a bit of burst damage, even if just for a couple of turns.

Have you tried adjusting your deck with some spells/weapons? Are you including Loatheb? Being able to pop their block one turn earlier with damage from hand often means game over for them. One extra turn of Ice Block up, or Flamewaker, or Sorcerer's Apprentice, and you're in for a tough game. You must ensure their key threats are vanquished asap.

I normally climb as Even Shaman, and if I can curve out decently, Miracle Mage are favorable matchups. Surely a lucky triple Ice Block can happen and it means you're doomed. But that's RNGesus doing. It doesn't always happen.

On the other hand I tried my own Miracle Mage in the ladder, and even tho I was able to defeat Odd Paladins sometimes, I was doomed whenever I couldn't properly fend off with decent Flamewaker powerturns.

Basically all what RavenSun has said plus the fact that you should save your Devolve (which should be a two of in every shaman deck) for their Doomsayer if they're playing freeze mage so your board stays alive.

Doomsayer is the smallest problem: i can always devolve it, or toxfin it.

My problem simply they freeze effect. They can hold my 5/5 murlocs freezed for multiple turn, and draw their remaning cards for an OTK combo(antonidas, or just an Arcane Giant for lethal).

But fortunetly i meet more and more even shaman.

This may seem like a stupid question, but is your Murloc build totally aggro or more midrange?

I ask because 1) both are possible, and 2) if you're aggro, you may just have to accept that you cannot win this matchup most of the time.
