Is Control Warrior viable?

Submitted 4 years, 1 month ago by

I managed to hit rank 10 for the second month in a row (3rd month playing) with Control Warrior that is heavily teached towards my meta (various Dragon, Face and Highlander Hunters, Galakrond Rogues, Token and Embiggen Druids, Mech Paladins etc).

Do you think it's viable in the higher ranks, I'm trying to reach rank 5.

Isn't the Galakrond or Highlander version of Control Warrior more viable? I play neither myself, but those are the ones I usually face.

Yes but this is meant to counter my own aggressive meta. I got to rank 7 today, but then dropped down to rank 9 because I faced a lot of Druids and RNG Rogues :/

Seems like a solid list.. sadly a lot of cards in this list will rotate out in 2.5 months so don't go and craft more cards from the year of the raven if they are expensive.. it's really impressive you got to rank 10 with such low play time..

The only card I find odd here is the scavengers definetly use EVIL Quartermaster instead, you get 3 armor on battlecry instead of a condition (you are not gonna proc that ability more than once anyway.. and they are both turn 4 plays but quartermaster is more flexible.

looks okish.. outdated list in terms of meta but what can you do..

Druids and rogues are really just too powerful you could get lucky enough to face less of them and get your rank 5..

Guys, I was thinking today that actually you can definitely play the Elysiana + a guaranteed second copy if you play the Warrior quest and the adventurer that gives you coin if you have an active quest? You can also mulligan off the quest since you don't need it right away. Or you could use it as a win-condition in the late game?

P.S. I hate that archetype and I have never played it...

There is no lategame fatigue-wars in this meta. So that combo is pretty pointless.

The Quest thing is actually an interesting idea, brb trying to make a deck =D

EDIT: I updated the deck theory-wise. I don't have Hack the System so can someone test it out and see if it's decent?

You're playing a somewhat weird list to be honest. I'm interested to know what your win rate is.

    Some observations;

    - you play hack the system but barely any weapons. So the intention is to play Licensed Adventurer and Sky Gen'ral Kragg. I personally don't think its viable to reduce your mulligan hand, just so you can play those cards.

    - There's standard removal cards from control warrior, but no Omega Assembly. After blocking your opponent's tempo, you're relying solely on dr boom for the win. Since there's no Archivist Elysiana, and youre actively adding cards to your opponent's deck, you can't fatigue them out.

This deck is tailor crafted to beat face hunters, token druid (contentious) and other pure aggro decks. Outside of the perfect Dr Boom plays, I struggle to see how this deck can beat anything else. Not to be dick or anything, but against rogues, embiggen druids, highlander mage, and mech paladin, I simply can't imagine this deck winning.

But on the up side, I personally think warrior as a class can get up the top. Just need to tech in Dragonmaw Poachers or Black Knight for the embiggen list and albatrosses for highlander. Probably not control, but midrange-aggro list should be the best way for warrior right now.

Yeah and that's not a good idea either.

Although interesting, it just isn't good.

That was exactly my point - it's an option. I doesn't need to be viable.
