How long will this deck last me?

Submitted 3 years, 11 months ago by

So I just recently started playing, and I stumbled across a deck build that I really enjoy, but I’m curious how effective it will be as I go up in the rankings?

The deck focuses on using units from the Shadow Isles and Ionia. I use a lot of low cost and ephemeral units, combined with cards like Phantom Prankster, Neverglade Collector, and Scuttlegeist. The result is a deck with the main focus of allying my units to die, so that the enemy takes unblock-able damage; as well as buffing units in my hand and deck. I also I have a lot of Evasive units and spells that deal damage to enemy units.

My questions are:

How good is this kind of play style as you get higher in the ranking? What are good counters for this kind of deck, and how can you keep from being countered?

It is viable. Swim was playing a similar but more aggro oriented deck:

I don't have specific experience playing this deck (though I've played around with similar mechanics in Expeditions). Shadow Isles and Ionia are the two best/most flexible regions in the game, and have been throughout the open beta.

Absent a deck list, I don't think we can say that your exact deck build will continue to be relevant in the metagame (feel free to share the deck list if you want specific advice around counters, weak points, etc.), but focusing in on getting cards from those two regions should give you the building blocks for meta decks for a long time.

Your deck is unconventional so its hard for me to judge, but I'd guess you're probably fairly weak against Vanguard Bannerman decks.  The hard counter to Bannerman is The Ruination, but I that's not really a good fit for your deck.

How do share a deck? Just take a screenshot of it?

    A few ways:

    1. Create a new deck on this site (you can import your deck code), save it, record the number, then in your post write the number and do the "Runeterra Deck" tags around it
    2. Create a new deck on Mobalytics, then copy their URL and/or their screenshot and paste it here

It's interesting--you're essentially blending 2 common archetypes.  Historically, prankster decks splash either P&Z or Noxus so they can deal direct nexus damage (Mystic Shot, Get Excited!, DevastateBADCARDNAME).  SI + Ionia decks tend to be more on the control side, usually looking to win late with L2 Karma.

I would cut the Scaled SnappersBADCARDNAME and Greenglade EldersBADCARDNAME, and I add Zed ASAP.  Other strong cards include Darkwater Scourge, Death Mark, Glimpse Beyond, and Deny.  I think you also need to eventually decide between Snapvine and Empyrean: they are both good, but their game plans are somewhat antithetical to each other.

To answer your original question: obviously you're winning with this deck, so that's good.  I would say its biggest flaw is that the elusives and death-lovers don't inherently synergize with each other, so you'll have higher chances of getting bad draws.  Again: I think the Demacia Bannermen net-decks will be very challenging, but I can't really say at what rung they exist on ladder.
