Classic HOF replacements

Submitted 3 years, 10 months ago by

So as usual (As of now) Blizzard will probably replace Leeroy Jenkins, Acolyte of Pain, Mind Control Tech, Spellbreaker and Mountain Giant with other cards whenever they will be bad (like last time) or decent.. we don't know they made better balance decisions lately so maybe they will make those cards more niche.

Well the main point of this thread is some kind of advice: if you are a long time player and your classic collection is full/almost full, don't open classic packs! , I realize it only 3 weeks ago.. sadly..

Since if you wait until those replacements are introduced, you will get new cards rather than duplicates thanks to the new duplicate rule. also there should be some DH cards this year that will go to the classic set probably at the end of the year so if you have DH cards you didn't get this year and they go to classic you will get them on those unopened packs!

If your classic collection is quite small this probably doesn't apply to you but, with the new rule I guess most players can get a full set of classic common/rares within 3 months or so of playing. so you also might want to wait until you open more of those classic packs you get via quests or tavern brawls.

There is one problem. Blizzard considers only regular cards for their non-duplicate policies, so even I was mising only 2 rares (The SI-7 agent), while opening packs I'm receiving cards which I had either 1 regular 1 golden copy or 2 golden copies, like Blizzard took into account only having collected the regular cards.

I don't see the connection here, I am talking about new cards that will replace hofed cards it has nothing to do with Golden cards, the moment you have all playable in a deck epics/rares/commons you will get duplicates, if you are in the stage where you get duplicates in classic packs you better save them until they add replacement to hofed cards.

Have you disenchanted any SI:7 Agents since the update? If so, then the pack opening algorithm wouldn't give you any because you have already opened them.

If not then I guess golden cards aren't taken into consideration, which is kind of weird, but it makes sense. I don't like to keep golden cards, so it is nice to know that I can safely DE those and still be able to reliably open normal copies.

Ugh... well, I dropped the cash to get the golden packs and now I'm regretting opening them.

Yes, if you have a complete or nearly complete collection you should start holding on to any Classic packs.  I know having a complete collection should remove the dupe protection for Classic from your account, however, I would imagine that when new cards are added to a set Blizzard will (or at least should) reset the dupe protection so you can quickly get the new cards you don't have.

I personally am missing 3 or 4 epics and [card[Natalie Saline.  So I plan on still opening them for now, but I'm also not buying any with gold or otherwise.  The only Classic packs I'm opening from now on are packs I get through rewards unless the new cards seem worth it, then I'll buy 10 or so and just see what I open.

Quick!  Someone give me something clever to write here.
