Rules

  • PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT DISTINCT TOPICS PERTAINING TO THEORYCRAFTING OR RECEPTION OF THE SET AS A WHOLE. We will be holding off on theorycrafting posts until the day after the set is fully revealed.

  • The ONLY top level comments allowed will be the spoiler formatted description of a card revealed today. Any other top level comment will be removed. All discussion relating to these cards shall take place as a response to each top level comment.

  • Please discuss the revealed cards and their potential implications in competitive play.

Feral Gibberer - Discussion

Class: Neutral

Card type: Minion

Rarity: Rare

Card text: After this minion attacks a hero, add a copy of it to your hand.

Sudden Betrayal - Discussion

Class: Rogue

Card type: Spell

Rarity: Common

Mana cost: 2

Card text: Secret: When a minion attacks your hero, it instead attacks one of its neighbours.

Other Notes:

  • This is not a joke! Rogues have taken their stealing to a whole new level, stealing Secrets from each of the classes that have them, while adding a bit of their own flair. There's a total of 3 Rogue Secrets in the set.

  • "it's neighbours" refers to minions adjacent to the one that attacked, chosen randomly.

  • Every class is getting a Legendary weapon (even ones that have never had a weapon before!).

Branching Paths - Discussion

Card text: Choose Twice: Draw a card; Giver your minions +1 Attack; Gain 6 Armor.

Other notes:

  • Works similar to Discover; you are offered all three options both times, so you can double up on the same option.

  • This is the only Choose Twice card in the set.

  • This is the only Recruit card for Hunter in the set (maybe I misheard Whalen).

New Set Information

  • New Mechanic - Recruit: Cards with the Recruit keyword immediately summon minions from your deck and put them into play. Some cards recruit minions that match certain conditions; others recruit randomly chosen minions.

  • New Game Mode - Dungeon Run: Completely free single-player game mode that simulates the experience of dungeon crawling. When your Dungeon Run starts, you’ll choose a Hero and receive a starting deck consisting of 10 cards. You’ll use it to overcome eight encounters of increasing difficulty (chosen randomly from a huge pool of 48 possible encounters!) to clear the run. Each time you defeat a Dungeon Run encounter, you’ll “level up” your Dungeon Run deck with themed sets of three cards appropriate to your class. When you lose, your Dungeon Run is finished, you're deck is thrown out and you restart all the way from the beginning. Complete a full Dungeon Run with each of the nine Classes to obtain the Candle King card back.

  • 9 new Legendary Weapons; One for each class (even classes that have never had a weapon before!). EVERYONE is getting one random Legendary weapon for FREE as part of the set release.

  • New Spellstones; One for each class. Every Spellstone card has a specific trigger condition; each time you fulfill that condition while a Spellstone is in your hand, the Spellstone becomes more powerful. Spellstones can be upgraded twice for a total of 3 different variations. For an example and more details on the exact mechanics, check out Mike's comment here!

    Correct. Branching Paths doesn't work with Fandral. Fandral's text box references "Choose One" cards and powers. Branching Paths uses "Choose Twice". We thought about how this could potentially work with Fandral. Do you get all 6 outcomes? Do you get 1 of the 3 outcomes twice? Do you get all 3 outcomes once? We decided since they were different words that it just wouldn't work with Fandral since Fandral specifically says "Choose One" and not "Choose Twice".
