Slightly better Despicable Dreadlord. Despicable Dreadlord isn't a bad card, so I don't think this will be a bad card either.
Shamans will probably get more use out of it because of Wrath of Air Totem.
I am a little underwhelmed by this legendary, it isn't a bad card, but not a very impressive one. I will play this if I open it, but it isn't worth crafting.
I really like the design of almost all of these dual class cards so far. This one benefits mage a little more than Shaman right now. Mage has a couple more spell damage class cards in Standard than Shaman plus a lot more in wild. I think for Shaman to get the most out of this card, it would need a weapon with spell damage on it. Mage now has a 9 mana Flamestike with Kirin Tor Tricaster. I'm not sure what that is worth but it could be an interesting deck build
I can't really imagine a deck in which you are willing to run this as a combo board clear when mage and shaman have access to so many great single card control tools already. The single sided nature of the board clear is less relevant when you can't use it to bypass taunt minions.
If you want to do something strong with this, shaman is probably to class to go for, especially with lightning bloom being printed. The problem is that any combo that generates a lot of spell damage in one turn could also win by just playing burn spells.

As a huge fan of Spell Damage Shaman I'm insanely excited for this card. It's already a reasonably decent deck, and great support cards like this will really lift it to the next level.

We currently don't have much spell damage to support this card, but it's got a good baseline ability and stat spread already. I think it might see play in tempo-decks since it clears the board and also pushes face damage, but we'll see how that shakes out. If nothing else I think it makes Highlander lists just because its a pretty decent stand alone card.

It is a much better card than Despicable Dreadlord, has more health (more sticky) and goes face. I you can get any spell damage it is absurd.
A puzzle box? What does it say? ... Yogi-Saffron something... sure, let's open it, what is the worst that could happen?
I like it. 6 health is sticky enough and if you combine it with spell dmg, it can provide board clears for ages or until it's dealt with. And both classes has access to enough +spell dmg to make this one a scary threat.

EU Legend: S52 (ZooHeal Lock); S76 (Highlander Hunter);
Both classes have a dragon that gives +2 spell damage, and shaman of course has the totem, so it’s not that difficult to get spell damage for this thing. Kind of weird that it goes face though
Let's be honest, how often has mage run spell damage minions or effects? Judged on its own, its basically a Dragonmaw Scorcher plus, and that's what it will be 90% of the time. With only 6 health, it will die the following turn and if it doesn't, you're likely in a commanding position to win anyway.
You might run this along with Bloodmage Thalnos and little else for a sometimes swingy play on 7, but otherwise its not really anyway impressive. There have been decks in the past running synergistic spell damage cards like Ethereal Augmerchant and Arcane Watcher, and mage has access to the very strong Azure Explorer, but in most cases, it has never worked out. For this card to maybe work, it must itself have spell damage, maybe +1, but unfortunately, it doesn't.
This looks like a really good and fun card. The fact that it goes face might make a big difference sometimes. It will be hard to set this up for a massive blast (someone mentioned Kirin Tor Tricaster above) and even harder to make it stick for a turn, but solid value nonetheless.

Both mage and shaman can get put spell damage easily, and Despicable Dreadlord was always a solid play. So yes, this could improve a lot of decks while not being a buildaround.
This card can totally lock you out of a game.. Just like despicable dreadlord locked out odd paladin.. You get some spells damage and you could basically win against aggro.

So for Shaman it's a SLIGHTLY better Despicable Dreadlord at best, as this can hit FACE. BUT the damage increases with spell dmg. However i don't think this will EVER stay alive longer than 1 turn, so you gotta have a lot of spell dmg on board for this to work. And opponents always LOVE removing spell damage. And this also doesn't have that much synergy with Squallhunter, because of Squallhunters overload. Unless you play it AFTER [Hearthstone Card (Ray Frostwhisper) Not Found] survives a turn, which is VERY UNLIKELY.
For mage it has way more synergy and better cards like Azure Explorer and Kirin Tor Tricaster. This will probably see play in a more blast/burn mage archetype.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.

This post is discussing the wild format.
I like seeing spell damage used creatively like this. It reminds me a bit of Unexpected Results from Boomsday in that style.

I'm surprised that we didn't have a similar card in the D-A-M-A-G-E card design competion.

Indeed, fun creative scaling mechanic with a lovely mini AoE on a stick
I like it already

This is lovely. Anybody else hoping that the other two Mage/Shaman cards will also have spell damage synergy? I can't wait!

Who needs consistency when you could have fun?

Really good, even if you don't invest in spell power it seems like a solid threat on the board.

Better Dreadlord so I guess it will be a staple regardless of how reliably you can combo it with spell damage
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
