Scholomance Academy Arena Impact - Priest Cards
High Abbess Alura - Priest Arena Review
High Abbess Alura by AbusingKel
Good on stats alone, especially for priest with the healing hero power. Better in paladin with a greater abundance of buff spells to take advantage of the ability. Trollden moments abound for priests that manage to buff it from hand and pull an Apotheosis to spawn a second, double-buffed game-winner.
High Abbess Alura by Boozor
Stats are fine - the ability can be hit or miss - if it pulls a double sided board clear it's awful. It also removes the spell from the deck instead of making a copy - this can be horrible in some situations. Better in Paladin
High Abbess Alura by sinti
This card will be extra draft dependent because not only will you need to have spells (in your deck), you need to have spells that cannot screw you. Getting a free Mind Control is cool, getting a free Plague of Death less so (unless that was your intention, lol).
Disciplinarian Gandling - Priest Arena Review
Disciplinarian Gandling by AbusingKel
Great stats for the cost and a very unique ability that can take advantage of deathrattles and turn late game weenies into formidable resources. It could get a bit awkward later in games if you have some big drops and he's blocks them from play, but I think he's too dangerous for opposing players to leave him on the board.
Disciplinarian Gandling by Boozor
Good 4 drop stats and a very powerful ability in the right deck. Synergies with Tokens, as well as deathrattles.
Disciplinarian Gandling by sinti
Good on-curve play and the ability can be pretty strong, probably more in a more early game oriented deck. It could actually hurt you, if you would have good stuff to play on-curve in later turns after this, so it might not be a snap pick, but i wager this will perform pretty well, especially in a class that can generate Lackeys.
Mindrender Illucia - Priest Arena Review
Mindrender Illucia by AbusingKel
I have a hard time seeing the value, here. Swap hands with your opponent is great if you have far less cards than your opponent but that's not the norm for priest. Swapping decks is a 1 card swap, completely random so irrelevant (toss up). 1/3 for 2 mana is not good. Legendary rarity... you're disappointed if you see the legendary animation in your draft and this is the best of the bunch.
Mindrender Illucia by Boozor
Very situational, but for 2 mana it's worth a shot taking this card to potentially have a huge disruptive swing in the late game.
Mindrender Illucia by sinti
This could be awesome, if you were out of cards and your opponent wasnt. But you are a Priest, so ... i guess you could use it to have a peak at your opponents hand, but do you want to reveal your own? And more importantly, do you want him to be able to play your cards? Hell nah!
Flesh Giant - Priest Arena Review
Flesh Giant by AbusingKel
Broken in Warlock. There are enough self pain cards plus the hero power to generally have this be a 5 or 6 drop. We've seen cost-reduction cards like this become problematic in arena (and standard) before and this will be another in that line. Priest won't be as likely to abuse this in arena but it'll still be cheap.
Flesh Giant by Boozor
Should be easy to make an under costed 8/8. Slower / less consistent then Sea Giant, but still quite manageable.
Flesh Giant by sinti
This should be easy to get discounted at least once or twice before you play it and at that point, it is a pretty good tempo play, it can easily get discounted to 0 after a while.
Devout Pupil - Priest Arena Review
Devout Pupil by AbusingKel
This will be broken in constructed and is my first prediction for a nerf. Cost reduction is powerful stuff, and this will be strong in arena but has a bit more reliance on your draft. Both classes have very strong buffs in the 1-4 mana range but getting them in adequate numbers during your draft, then in proper order during your matches will be harder than constructed. It's decent without a reduction, which is the really crazy part.
Devout Pupil by sinti
It might not be as easy to discount this as it would be in constructed. Still, at worse it is a Sunwalker, which is great.
Cabal Acolyte - Priest Arena Review
Cabal Acolyte by AbusingKel
Less reliable than priest's usual hoard of steal cards, but taunt puts this over the top for me. It should prove to be a very strong card. The class has some decent options for cheap spells that should help pull off great swing turns.
Cabal Acolyte by Boozor
Situational Cabal Shadow Priest which is an insane tempo card, this card is a bit more situational but the body is better for it's cost.
Cabal Acolyte by sinti
Pretty good Taunt on its own and then there is the Spellburst ability. I wouldn't expect to get anything too often, but when you do, it will certainly provide for a very good tempo turn.
Initiation - Priest Arena Review
Initiation by AbusingKel
It's expensive so you must get the summon from it. Priest plays well with toys like this. If you're forced to play it just as removal you've probably already lost and just haven't conceded.
Initiation by Boozor
Nice removal with a potential huge tempo swing. It's expensive and situational, but very powerful.
Initiation by sinti
Extremely strong card. 4 damage is plenty to finish off most targets and then you get the copy for yourself. Holy Water was an excellent card and you had to play the minion for full mana. This card will be broken as hell in Priest. Mark my words.
Brittlebone Destroyer - Priest Arena Review
Brittlebone Destroyer by AbusingKel
Easy to trigger hard removal that leaves a body on the board? Yes, please! 100% reliable for Warlock on T6 and likely for priest by that point in the game. As a rare card you need to be prepared to see this very often.
Brittlebone Destroyer by Boozor
Similar to Aeon Reaver but unconditional removal - it's possible that you're at full health when needing to play this, or need a heal on another minion so its a bit conditional in Priest compared to Warlock that just needs life to tap. However, this card is still an insane card.
Brittlebone Destroyer by sinti
Pretty great card, combined with your Hero Power it is a 6-cost Assassinate with a 3/3 body, and a small heal. If you can get some Lifesteal minions out, then this gets even better.
Gift of Luminance - Priest Arena Review
Gift of Luminance by AbusingKel
There's certainly potential with this card if you can target a value minion (deathrattle, poisonous, etc.) but the total cost of the card is underwhelming on any basic minion. Hand of Protection + Argent Squire for 3 mana... not that exciting. I'm curious to see it in action, though.
Gift of Luminance by sinti
Since Priest does not have many ways to give Divine Shield to its minions, you will most likely be happy for this card and hitting an aura or deathrattle minion with this can be pretty nice.
Power Word: Feast - Priest Arena Review
Power Word: Feast by AbusingKel
An absolutely stellar play in most priest arena decks. You tend to end up with high health minions and this is a recurring effect that restores it to full. Priest will be brutal with this, Apotheosis, Psyche Split, and Gift of Luminance. Just make sure you have enough minions to go with all those buff spells. ;)
Power Word: Feast by Boozor
Game winning tempo swing if it leads into a value trade and full heal. Devastating especially early.
Power Word: Feast by sinti
Extremely strong buff, not only were +2/+2 buffs for 2 or 3 mana historically very strong and could potentially run away with the game on its own, this will let you trade, survive and heal back to full. Absolutely crazy in priest.
Wave of Apathy - Priest Arena Review
Wave of Apathy by AbusingKel
Crazy powerful at only 1 mana but you have to be able to take out the opponents minions or it's gone by your next turn. Small minions for Paladin and good AoE for priest should make that doable.
Wave of Apathy by Boozor
A board wide Humility for a turn. It will have it's uses, maybe slightly better in Priest.
Wave of Apathy by sinti
Similar to Curse of Weakness in terms what you are going to use it for. This is actually miles stronger. Yes, you cant get the Attack to 0, but you also dont have to spend your entire turn doing so.
Frazzled Freshman - Priest Arena Review
Frazzled Freshman by AbusingKel
It's an excellent 1 drop and the high health makes it great for priest's hero power. Still, it's a 1 drop and you aren't excited to draft them and even less excited to draw them late.
Frazzled Freshman by Boozor
Great stats for the cost and helps Priest with pings early. Needs buffs to reach potential, but it's good as is.
Frazzled Freshman by sinti
There aren't many follow-ups for this card, namely just Dragonmaw Overseer, Apotheosis and Power Infusion and maybe Kul Tiran Chaplain to set you up for those, but even as a textless 1/4, this card should be able to trade with most 2-drops, which is already pretty good. Tho if Scholomance Academy does not bring one or two cards that can buff Attack of this minion on T2, im not sure this will be worth drafting at all beyond like 1 copy, I expect it will be lined up against more powerful cards quite often.
Draconic Studies - Priest Arena Review
Draconic Studies by AbusingKel
Dragon priest will always be a thing. Discover is great for finding something that fits the situation.
Draconic Studies by Boozor
The best new studies card. It's similar - but this discover dragon mechanic has terrorized Arena in 2020, this is no different.
Draconic Studies by sinti
Discovering a dragon is very strong. Discount is a nice cherry on top.
Raise Dead - Priest Arena Review
Raise Dead by AbusingKel
Ok, this one is really cool. I love it but it's situational. You can't really play it early unless you've grabbed initiative to start and even then the minions only go to hand. I think the set bonus will make this feel really broken when you can trigger Health Change in the Priest/Warlock dual class cards.
Raise Dead by Boozor
Much stronger in Priest with the heal and the lack of card draw. Very nice generation.
Raise Dead by sinti
Extremely powerful card advantage tool. You want this and you want multiples.
