After sitting at 50% winrate for 2 days straight on rank 3 I decided to join my opponents at playing Reno Quest Mage. I was fairly familiar with the archetype because I was playing Psy Guenters list back in the Uldum meta. I decided to take a look at Dragon package in it since I was not convinced that it is a stronger version. So I copied the list featured in Tempostorm and then adjusted it to my needs and playstyle. Aaaand the result is that I yeeted myself to Legend with 17 games only from rank 3. The list was going off and the games were fast. I got beat up a couple times so the deck is definitely not unbeatable

Mulligan:

Always keep Book of Specters,Questing Adventurer,Mad Scientist

If you are facing against Aggro opponent then keep Doomsayer and Zephrys. You can consider mulliganing away the Quest against Aggro. It depends on your mulligan and if you prefer to have a "dead" card in your starting hand or as a draw.

Description:

I think the big part of success of this deck comes from the fact that Highlander build around in Wild is not restricting your deck enough anymore. I've seen this pattern already when I played mine Control Reno Mage and Reno Priest as well. There is too many minions with similar effects resulting into less restriction of the deck. Doomsayer and Depth Charge,Mad Scientist and Arcanologist are good examples that come off right from top of my head. If we apply this point to this deck, the result is that there are lookalike cards in form of Scientist and Questing Explorer,Banana Buffoon and Cobalt Spellkin ending it with Mana Giant and Arcane Giant. On top of that you have Mage Highlander package sprinkled with an overall good cards like Ice Block,Doomsayer or Ray of Frost and voila. You have the pretty powerfull core

The finishing force of the deck is Vargoth+Time Warp combo. Open the Waygate became extremely easy to dump into multiple decks making it alongside Awaken the Makers and Corrupt the Waters one of the best Quests to complete. Both because of pay off and completing. Toss in a couple of Giants and your opponent is most likely dead because of 3 turn giving you 20 additional mana and attacks from your minions.

Now the Dragon package is here for 1 card only. Malygos, Aspect of Magic. He can be easily compared to Kazakus and Zephrys as 3rd flexible tool which you can use to archieve whatever your heart desires. Value,Damage,Removal,Draw=Everything. Dragonqueen  Alextrasza is here to produce additional beefy 0 mana minions to hit your opponent face with while OG Alextrasza can deal up to 15 damage to your opponent just with Battlecry. Thats pretty usable in a Control deck which has powerfull combo finisher

In terms of my adjustments I've cut the clunkier spells like Blizzard etc because they were not doing enough work for me. I added new Legendary Pirate instead which is basically Zilliax but 1 turn earlier and Coldlight Oracle, which helped me even more to cycle trough the deck while being quite problematic for my Warlock and Priest opponents.

General playstyle:

If you played Razakus or Cubelock in their prime time during Kobolds and Catacombs then this deck exactly brings that nostalgia and playstyle for you. You have a few options against your opponent almost anytime in the game. The only deck that destroys you is DHlock highrolling n turn 3-4 but aside from that you shouldn't be unfavourable against anything. The most challenging matchup is another mirror against Quest Reno Mage where you are both drawing towards you finisher as soon as possible.

The deck doesnt require you to think that much if you re familiar with Reno decks and Combo decks. I wasnt counting lethal at all and was doing 2-3 other things as well while playing and I got punished exactly 1 time by that from Hijo playing Odd Warrior. 1 punish out of 17 games is... aboslutely okay xDD
