Aggro Dragon Hunter with Dragonbane, Felwing and draw

I found this list on hsreplay.net and as I write this it currently has a >60% winrate.

Of course that will fall as the meta adapts.

Played it at lower ranks (17 to 5) with 33 wins and 3 losses on NA and EU.  Update: Got to Rank 5 on both NA and EU.  47-13

Here are a few thoughts/my initial impressions.

Mulligan

You pretty much always want:

- Stormhammer

- Phase Stalker

- Blazing Battlemage

- Dwarven Sharpshooter

- If you have Blazing Battlemage and think you can hit the opponent for 2 plus hero power on turn 2, I like to keep Frenzied Felwing as it will be 0 mana.

- [Hearthstone Card (Fairy Dragon) Not Found] against Rogue or if you miss Phase Stalker

This decks on has two secrets in it, and you never want to draw them.  That's what Phase Stalker is for :)

Embiggen Druid

I like having a poison minion on the board if possible or a Rotnest Drake in hand for their big taunts.

Kill them before they reach late game.  9-2

Highlander Hunter

We are favored here.  Try to keep a Rotnest Drake for big road blocks like Siamat.  A Corrosive Breath is great against Zilliax.

Mage

We are very fast normally before they can do their power turns.  6-1

Rogue

Great matchup.  I like having a fairy dragon turn 2 as they can't Backstab it.  8-0

Paladin

Almost all paladin matchups are bad.  Play around typical removals and hope you can push the damage you need.

Mech Paladins  bad matchup - can try Explosive Trap and Unleash the Hounds if facing them a lot.

I went 3-2 though so can be winnable.

Res Priest

hsreplay.net says it's a bad matchup though I was able to kill them before they did their thing.  7-0

Warrior

Expect a hard matchup.  I had 5 warrior opponents - most Galacrond some Dragon, some highlander.  I only won 1 of them.  Seemed to be a lot more prevalent recently as it nicely counters our deck.  1-4

Replacements

I really don't think Dragonbane is needed for this deck.  It gave me lethal once, but I think I would have won regardless.  In a few of my latter games I actually took it out.

Stormhammer is not replaceable.  Both are required. Only had one and crafted the other. Hit face three times with that and hero power and it's 15 damage - half opponents life total.

Some replacements could be:

- Lifedrinker

- Firetree Witchdoctor

- extra secret

- Dragonmaw Poacher if there are lots of mirrors, other dragon decks.

For what it's worth here were my matchups (ranks 5 - 15 or so)

I'd be interested to hear how it does at higher ranks.

I played a very similar list from rank 3 to legend, just with 2x Lifedrinker instead of Big Ol' Whelp. If you want I can give a more thorough explanation about how to play it against the decks I faced the most between those ranks. In general I agree with your guide, but there are a few things I disagree with. First of all I almost always keep Faerie Dragon if I don't have Phase Stalker in my opening hand, and always when facing Rogue. Also, Res Priest is actually favoured in my experience because you can just kill them before they get all their annoying stuff online. I also think you're very lucky to not have faced any Galakrond Warrior because that's one of the match-ups I struggled with the most, besides Token Druid and Mech Paladin if they draw Crystology and Galvanizer.

This deck has lifedrinkers - was that the list you played?  What was your W/L to legend if you don't mind me asking?

        This is the list: https://hsreplay.net/decks/a3NbagBhHc2SD6YaNxxL7d/

I sadly don't have any useful stats, since I played most of my grind to legend on my girlfriend's iPad where I don't have a tracker installed.

Thanks very much - that's a really useful insight.

Definitely can see the benefit of Fairie Dragon early against rogue as I said in the guide - but will add to the mulligan section as a specific and general rule.

hsreplay agrees on the Gala Warrior matchup being unfavored - not played it myself as you say but I can see why it would be hard :)  It also says res priest is a bad matchup but like you I've not had problems thus far.

Going to update the guide with your input.  Thanks again :)

No problem! Res priest is a difficult one, because I think many people play it wrong. Especially against quest res priest people hold back their damage because they won't give them quest progress, while the correct move is to just go very agressive because by the time they can heal 15 damage you have pretty much lost anyway. It's also good if they waste mana hero powering because it gives you more time to develop threats.

Nice job. It's always good to read some thoughts on a deck by someone who played several games. Thanks!
