I'm really liking this season of Twist because the deck to play (and beat) seems to be old-style Handlock, which is still one of my favourite decks in HS history. My main problem with it is that it doesnt seem like there's many people playing it, so whenever i hop in it takes a while for a game to actually start, meanwhile on Standard i get games almost right away.
Normally it's not that big of an issue, but i get the bulk of my HS time during my lunch break.
I personally don't buy that. People were pointing out on week 1 of release that not only there was nothing to do with excess coins, but also that there was no protection from bounties and packs giving you coins for maxed characters. Even if you concede that the devs didn't think this would be an issue early on (which is honestly ridiculous because it's such an incredibly obvious problem) it doesn't change that they dragged their feet on providing a solution for literally an -entire year-. That's one whole year in which they allowed a whole game mode to sell an increasingly useless product for real money.
That's an awful look no matter which way you cut it and really gives credibility to the idea that either the mode was rushed out the door before it was ready or Blizzard just stopped giving a shit about it after the lukewarm reception it got.
Honestly Stormwind, and in particular the Questline meta, ended up killing almost all the interest i had in the game. I went from hitting Legend fairly regularly to not making it to Silver 5 this past month which i hadnt done since Rastakhan's Rumble (and even then it was for reason unrelated to the state of the game). If AV doesnt shake things up enough, and i could be way off base but right now it doesnt look like it will, i'll probably just quit altogether.
I think part of it has been a percieved changed in design philosophy that came about when the devs because a lot more willing to make balance changes. I mean, don't get me wrong, i think that the approach as it took shape before was great, particularly in contrast with the hands off approach that was used during the early years of the game, but it's also gotten us to a point where of the 5 expansion in the current standard cycle (not counting AV for obvious reasons), at least 3 of them have needed balance changes before the expansions were a month old. I realize that properly adjusting the power level of an expansion is a tough needle to thread, especially considering that high power level expansions are more fondly regarded than weaker ones, but there's gotta be a middle ground between that and releasing blatantly warping cards like 5 mana Battlegrounds Battlemaster with the expectation that they'll be readjusted early on if they screw things up too much.
I do want to stress that this probably sounds more bitter than i actually am. I dont think the game is moving in a "wrong" direction or anything, just one that makes me personally less interested in it. If i do stop playing i don't think it'll be a big deal one way or the other, i'll find something else to kill time with, and HS will still have a large playerbase
One thing that miffed me to no end regarding hero portraits was the they made a whole bunch of fully functional ones for the Year of the Dragon PvE content and then......... just never used them for anything else. Theres good money i'd be 100% willing to spend on getting to take Ol' Barkeye or Rakanishu into the ladder
this post is just unbelievable. An absolute weirdo confidently waltzing in to say he hates minorities, justifying it by creating imagined situations in his head to get mad at and topping it off by voicing his intentions to troll a popular streamer.
Like how little introspection do you need to have to read that mess you posted and not wonder if maybe you dont have the right read on this scenario
wasnt the Nozdormu bug fixed at some point? I remember a very janky and fringe combo deck way back that used him and 2 Brewmasters sending each other back to the hand to keep eating your opponents turn but eventually blizz addressed it and then no longer worked.
Maybe i'm misremembering, it's not like the Noz combo was ever widely played, tho if not i wonder what caused him to break again
i remember falling for the Varian hype hook line and sinker. Day 1 craft
Then i took it ont he ladder and he just plopped his 10 mana butt in your hand being useless while Secret Paladin murdered you on curve or, even more miserably, you were playing the control mirror and you couldnt drop him at all because he'd put you 3 cards closer to fatigue
It was a learning experience tho. Since then the only day 1 craft i've made was Zephrys
Wish they'd just add the Dalaran Heist chars as alt heroes (default hero powers obviously), they even have the emotes and all. I'd pay good money to take Ol Barkeye, Rakanishu or Squeamlish to the ladder
playing big minions was also a huge liability in GVG too. Thanks to Dr. Boom warping the meta around himself almost every deck was running Big Game Hunters (which back then costed 3 mana)
i crafted Flame Leviathan long after it rotated and when i wasn't particularly swimming in dust just because i wanted it in my collection and to this day i have 0 regrets about it

i'm pretty sure this brawl was busted in the same way people are describing the last time it went up

No DH spells. Fury, Chaos Strike and Metamorphosis seem to be the closest things. Fury could be interesting if you can recast the higher rank versions
you can combine that with the new Hunter spell to get seven 1 mana 5/5s!!!! (that you cant play)

are you seriously going to bat for:
1) the guy that popped in to say he hates minorities
2) the one that said women are babies who cry too much
like what kind of measured discussion are you even supposed to squeeze out of brains that rotten

aggro decks are capping right now at 5 or 7 mana. I dont really see them slowing down for a chance at a free Strongman
Druid is gross. Got the pack with a janky and hastily put together token list since i didnt have that many cards for the class

these are some brutal changes. Im excted to see the effects
a minor detail, Frost Giant already exists
This is a nice idea, i like mixing up the tri class factions
RIP my wild Miracle DH deck with Arcane Giants lol
