Monk by far, brewmaster class fits perfectly a game that takes place in an inn, after all. This class disposition is just as the game itself, it's a shame it's not in the game yet.

He was probably my favourite dev at Blizzard, really sad news indeed.

My favourite moment was when Saviors of Uldum reawakened highlander archetype with some awesome cards.

What I'm looking forward in 2020 - that it will introduce 3 connected story-wise expansions just like those in 2019.

Ok, so I tested both decks:

    1. Shaman:

Ended up adding full Galakrond package as it's op and complementary with ele/overload package. Deck is faster then traditional Gala shaman decks, it's possible to get ahead at start and keep lead to the end, Vessina can be really good.

    2. Mage:

Trying both eles and dragons doesn't work. This list is pure ele with a lot of cheap spells, abusing Chenvaala and sidequest is the key, it's based on Regis Killbin list - I only changed 2x A Missiles for Luna and Antonidas. It's quite fun to play with a lot of options all the time.

Do you remember times of GvG, Naxx, Tournament when they said they wouldn't change any cards because they wouldn't feel like cards? Those were fun times, I quitted the game for a long time, probably person responsible for such an idiotic approach is no longer part of Team 5. Always a good thing to see balance changes, they can't come fast enough.

I'm gonna quote some other user from the site:

"Whoever designed/tested Faceless Corruptor must've been on acid."

Mage deck was harder to make, I really want to make elemental synergies work, but it may prove that the new cards, although quite good, are not enough. And as far as the dragon package goes, Arcane Breath and Malygos are just too good to skip, so the list of potential cards is very big.

I agree that Shooting Stars should be better then Frostbolts, repleced that. As for Arcane Int - the idea is that the draw 3 spells quest and Luna should be enough, definitely not sure bout it, will add AI if that is not enough.

As far as the curve goes, I believe this deck should be played like cyclone mage, ie hold some cards for explosive combos, there isn't a really good curve with minions here (Chenvaala is an exeption). And I don't believe another giants can be squeezed into - I don't know what to cut, anything seems to somehow cripple the deck.

As for amalgamations - that's an idea I didn't think about - they are a perfect glue for both synergies, but nothing more really, so if ele and dragon chains won't work, I'll think about adding them. EDIT: it may be a good idea to replace Azure Explorers with them, definitely something to try out - Amalgams with Ele Evo aren't a joke.

After some research and pondering, I decided that omitting OP dragon cards like Galakrond and Malygos isn't the way to go so I added dragon packages to both decks, posting if someone looks for a reference to their ideas:

I like to build decks myself at the very beginning of a xpack, then I try to refine them by playing and internet search for something similar.

There is one thing that is of utmost importance to me to like the idea of a deck - it MUST be build around 1 (sometimes more) cohesive and important for a given xpack theme. Also I play almost only shaman and mage as I don't like other classes that much.

So, since atm DoD is incoming I'm interested only in the following themes:

    -singleton/dragon and elemental/tempo for mage

-galakron/whatvere works with him and elemental/overload for shaman.

I will try these and keep playing whatever works. I avoid many meta/teck picks as they often don't follow the theme of a deck.

Hey, the newest set introduces many very good elemental cards for shaman and mage, which are usually my favourites, so I though it'd be cool to try them out. Both decks are rather fast and dragonless (there will be a lot of 8/8 with rush dragon counter at start of xpack probably).

    1. Shaman:

This deck uses all best overload and elemental minions synergies, with Vessina and Bloodlust as possible finishers.

    2. Mage:

Here we've got the new Mana Giants and Chenvaala, so a lot of cheap spells, additional spells generators and ofc more elemental minions.

    How do you like it?

When will those OP wild cards leave standard? I thought they would be gone by the end of October.

Earthquake shakes the board like no other card, I refuse to remove it! + I like to take it really slow for the moment. :> The shaman quest seems a realy good card since it can be build around in many ways.

I've tested my list for several days and it's been performing pretty well, control shell allows to use Hagatha the Swampqueen, which is a powerhouse with the quest. Archivist won me 2 vs control games, it's a good card with such a slow approach, Barista, however feels like a win more card, not that useful.

As for your list, it has some really interesting choices with Omega Minds and Arcane Dynamos, I may try some of these as well, tnx for posting.

Ok, so few days pased, there can be found pros' versions of decks, quest shaman including:

    Deck ID Not Found

This list is heavily inspired by the one by Theo, the only change I made was GInventor -> Hagatha the Swamp Queen.

I noticed that shammy quest decks have been moving towards very low curve, with cards mostly as costly as 4 mana, while it makes sense, since you wanna use hero power every turn and and spend all that value the deck is creating, I don't really like that direction.

So, above is a diffirent approach (full lackey package for early game is a keep ofc), with 5 strong aoes, Walking Fountains for healing and super valuable cards with quest like Swampqueen, Siamat or Barrista. Of course with Shudderwock and completed by Archivist, a staple in control shaman.

    How do you like it?

I tried Vex Crow and it was usually too slow to contest the board with it.

Dune Sculptor here is to help the deck with its main purpose - convert cheap, spammable spells into value, same for quest, Cyclone and Antonidas. Also it's about unpredictability and fun such effects provides, mage seems best for it currently.

I can't find it unfortunately, but it will try to abuse several battlecry murlocs, it shouldn't be much different from RoS murloc shaman list, basically more aggressive battlecries.

I checked some decks played on stream some day ago at Blizzard and there were two additions worth to consider imo: Brightwing and Twilight Drakes, just wanted to point it out here.

Hey, since mage is my 2nd main (and last :P) and as for shaman I wanted to make a quest list for Jaina:

    Deck ID Not Found

I was playing this list in RoS as I find it quite fun to mess with a lot of cheap spells, but not to much success. SoU gave it much needed additional fuel in the form of Ride the Sky Temple and Dune Sculptor. Also Flame Ward should be helpful against aggro, it was struggling against before.

I don't predict it to be super vialable but it should work and be a lot of fun.

Deck consists of best cheap spells in mage arsenal (quest doesn't have to be played immediately for additional triggers) that allow finishing the quest with ease and trigger cards like Mana Cyclone, Dune Sculptor, Archmage Antonidas for a lot of value.

How do you like it, feedback much appreciated! :>

Also, anyone came up with some other quest mage decks?

    Ok, made following changes:

    -1 Earth Shock

    -1 EVIL Totem

    +1 Witchwood Piper

    +1 Questing Explorer.

I decided to keep Giggling as it's a super good target to evolve (2xspell+lakey).

As far as EVIL Totem goes - lakeys are super useful because of the quest, so I think that card may have a home here, it's not only about Wasp.

I'd like to mention that I saw much more agressive quest lists, with murlocks instead of midrange minions, not sure if that approach will make the quest list better, it seems that midrangy version have best battlecries possible.
