Tome Tampering was already a problem in Wild because of its interaction with Malchezaar's Imp. The discard synergies have now been pushed far enough for them to be the primary way to abuse this interaction, but Tome Tampering is definitely the better target here.

Man, even when the odds are drastically in my favour my packs suck XD I got a signature card in the first Standard pack (so far so good), then a whole lotta nothing in the remaining 20, so I ended at a solid 'average'.

Hey, that's pretty good going for deathrattle packages these days. *Shudders at memories of deathrattle rogue during the Year of the Gryphon*

Yeah but, you have to do something alongside it. I'm a rogue main with well over 4000 wins with the class, so I know very well how much that combo keyword matters, and even on 1 mana cards it's not trivial. Quite often it will just be waiting in the hand in the early game because you either don't have the spare mana or didn't have anything else to do that turn, and quite often the 1 damage will just go face because there's nothing good to do with it.

I'm not saying it's bad by any stretch. Indeed, it'll probably see plenty of play, but the combo constraint means it probably won't feel anything special. Keep in mind Tracking exists, and while it gets used, nobody has ever given it very much attention. If it wasn't for the reappearance of reborn supplying lots of 1-health minions in the mid-to-late game, I'd confidently say I'd rather have Tracking. Hence, I'm not too fussed about Ghostly Strike. (I know, different classes, but you get the point.)

I'm with you. A conditional 1 mana Shiv just doesn't sound that noteworthy.

That in mind, it'd be fun if the Diamond card were decided AFTER the expansion launch - imagine a Horde V Alliance sort of event to decide which legendary gets the Diamond treatment.

That's exactly what we had with Vanndar and Drek'thar in AV (not counting the very expensive Drek'thar version being made available to purchase later on).

I'm pretty sure it will just increase the numbers on that specific spell. You can think of it a bit like a normal handbuff for minions, just with the affected numbers inside the textbox instead of attack/health stats on the corners.

Maybe, but in all likelihood when the next bunch of mercs arrive you're still going to get visitors for mercs who you have already maxed out. Those 2 daily slots don't seem to care who's maxed out or not.

The worst is Tyrael. Iirc, he has coins in only 1 bounty (the Secret Cow level), and shares it with Uther... so that's 2 legendaries, meaning you aren't actually guaranteed Tyrael coins even going through it in heroic. I get they were going for 3 paladins as rewards on that level, but couldn't they have put one of the Roames there instead of Uther?

Why do you abandon the visitor quests? Sure, by the time you've put the coins through the coin -> renown -> coin conversion the rewards aren't much, but they are still something.

Plus, I actually quite enjoy being given 2 or 3 mercs to work out a team for, especially when they are not obvious teammates.

Not the main topic here, but...

For example, Diamond Grand Magister Rommath is on the March of the Lich King Tavern Pass.

So, it's another diamond card for mage then? Shocker! :O

Maybe I'm only remembering the recent ones (Old Gods) then, but even so, once they've set up a system to change which coins are present, why not continue using it? It's not like it's difficult to find space as there's several bounties for the large majority* of mercs, so switching 1 out isn't a problem.

Perversely a few, mostly epics like Cho, only have coins in a single bounty, which is a bit annoying.

I finished the Rattlegore quests ages ago, so this doesn't affect me, but what makes it a real doozy is that Rattlegore coins weren't added to any of the existing bounties. So yeah, crafting epics is cheaper than legendaries, but there's currently no controlled way to get Rattlegore coins, so good luck with that.

So casino mage finally gets its Tess? Targeted spells are often the volatile part of Tess' battlecry, and usually best avoided if possible. Since Rommath doesn't have the 'targets enemies' clause, he's going to have the same issue, and doubly so as he can't fill out the bulk of his battlecry with minions to avoid the issue. It does make me wonder why he costs 9 vs Tess' 7. I guess it's much more reliable to get stuff like Rune of the Archmage.

Overall though, it all looks like simple translations of burgle rogue cards into mage (Energy Shaper = modernised Lilian Voss, Rommath = Tess, and Pirsmatic Elemental = Hench-Clan Burglar), so I'll just stick with rogue for this stuff like I always do. I'm sure the people who prefer casino mage will be happy to finally have these tools though.

As (former) Farstriders of Quel-thelas, I have to assume the Windrunner sisters were its intended companion heroes, but the poor spotter got tasked with working with Rexxar instead. I guess this sort of thing must be quite common within the Horde, where the disparate races have very different ways of doing things.

I just checked with Warsong Wrangler (which uses the wherever they are wording), and it doesn't apply to either re-summons or subsequently generated copies. I expect it is preferable to specify all 3 domains, but card text space limitations sometimes force them into the 'wherever' wording.

To work like that they'd have to make a C'Thun-like aura, which I doubt. More likely 'wherever they are' is just shorthand for board, hand and deck.

I'm going to put the Spotter's flavour text here because it is simply too good not to: "No Rexxar, not the face, the minion right there. Yep that one righ-- Rexxar no!" XD

Your understanding of how it works is correct, and it's basically the undead trigger, akin to "if you're holding a dragon" and "if you played an elemental last turn". I don't think there are any examples of it previously.

Maybe, but it pays to give deeper explanations, especially with situational cards like this which need several things to align.
