I finished the Rattlegore quests ages ago, so this doesn't affect me, but what makes it a real doozy is that Rattlegore coins weren't added to any of the existing bounties. So yeah, crafting epics is cheaper than legendaries, but there's currently no controlled way to get Rattlegore coins, so good luck with that.

So casino mage finally gets its Tess? Targeted spells are often the volatile part of Tess' battlecry, and usually best avoided if possible. Since Rommath doesn't have the 'targets enemies' clause, he's going to have the same issue, and doubly so as he can't fill out the bulk of his battlecry with minions to avoid the issue. It does make me wonder why he costs 9 vs Tess' 7. I guess it's much more reliable to get stuff like Rune of the Archmage.

Overall though, it all looks like simple translations of burgle rogue cards into mage (Energy Shaper = modernised Lilian Voss, Rommath = Tess, and Pirsmatic Elemental = Hench-Clan Burglar), so I'll just stick with rogue for this stuff like I always do. I'm sure the people who prefer casino mage will be happy to finally have these tools though.

As (former) Farstriders of Quel-thelas, I have to assume the Windrunner sisters were its intended companion heroes, but the poor spotter got tasked with working with Rexxar instead. I guess this sort of thing must be quite common within the Horde, where the disparate races have very different ways of doing things.

I just checked with Warsong Wrangler (which uses the wherever they are wording), and it doesn't apply to either re-summons or subsequently generated copies. I expect it is preferable to specify all 3 domains, but card text space limitations sometimes force them into the 'wherever' wording.

To work like that they'd have to make a C'Thun-like aura, which I doubt. More likely 'wherever they are' is just shorthand for board, hand and deck.

I'm going to put the Spotter's flavour text here because it is simply too good not to: "No Rexxar, not the face, the minion right there. Yep that one righ-- Rexxar no!" XD

Your understanding of how it works is correct, and it's basically the undead trigger, akin to "if you're holding a dragon" and "if you played an elemental last turn". I don't think there are any examples of it previously.

Maybe, but it pays to give deeper explanations, especially with situational cards like this which need several things to align.

Fact of the matter is this card is very likely worthless, because rogue in 2022 have proven time and time again that it doesn't rely on removal all that much, because they're usually doing something more important, like pressuring face or drawing tons of cards, or more often than not, both.

I dunno, removal on a stick has historically found its place in rogue (think Vilespine Slayer and Flik Skyshiv), and Denathrius has encouraged more decks to put stuff on the board than we usually see, so there's hope for the card.

Of course, this removal is more conditional than previous options, but it does leave a better body (2/5 with poisonous > 4/4) and rogue is a class that has a decent number of undead minions by accident as it gets forsaken characters far more frequently than other classes do. It may ultimately be too awkward, but there are enough points in its favour that I'd have to try it out before saying that with any confidence.

To be fair, (nearly) no-minion deck building is pretty linear no matter what you do with it simply due to the very limited card pool. It would be kind hard to avoid using lots of fel and Relic spells. What else could you really do with DH spells?

Paying mana to discover minions you would normally have drawn for free is a downside, and a 4 mana 4/2 weapon is fine but not something you'd choose to put in a deck normally.

The Scythe is certainly a very neat way to make no-minion deck construction significantly more interesting. Being able to choose which order to draw the 3 minions in is also generally useful, even when you won't know which 3 minions get scythed, so I wonder if it finds a place in normal decks too. That will depend on how much the 3 mana tax to release the minions matters, and whether a plain 4 mana 4/2 weapon is good enough when you draw it.

Death's Shadow (-> Shadow Reflection), Shadow of Death, and now Shadow of Demise. All rogue 'cards' that copy other cards, accounting for the shadow part of their name. I still haven't worked out the thematic link they have with death, though I must be missing something as it's impressively consistent.

Anyway, the flashiest use I can think of for this currently is as a 3rd Contraband Stash, but really this is one of those cards that is just good anywhere, even if it only copies something mundane.

OK, so warrior's anti-spell stuff might have been within class identity based on what they can do in WoW, but this time it actually is out of place right?  Obviously rush and damaged minions are very on-brand, but fire spell synergy... (Any WoW aficionados are encouraged to tell me all about the fire warriors there.)

It's probably just because it has a simple effect. It's just an Arcanite Reaper + lifesteal after all. Other than how easy they are to obtain, there's really no distinction between commons, rares and epics, and Doomhammer and Gorehowl have long established the precedent of important weapons not needing to be legendary.

Finally, if you think Corrupted Ashbringer ought to have had a more complicated effect, it's worth remembering the Ashbringer we already have in HS is just a 5/3, so corrupting it to trade 1 durability for lifesteal seems flavourful enough to me.

Hmm, I'm on the fence about DH suddenly being allowed a bunch of card generation... but I'll let it pass since it is specifically for outcast cards which have some natural synergy with generated cards being added to the far right of your hand. Plus, if this finally finds a way for the mechanic to make sense in slower decks, then that's definitely a good thing.

Years ago they talked about class identity, but nowadays that is all over the place.

Introducing more and more hand disruption is very frustrating. Seems like this is their only answer to combat their own mistakes of releasing broken cards in the (recent) past, present and future.

Any text-box on a warrior minion that references spells is a class identity red flag to me. Prior to this expansion we had only seen it happen once, and only as part of the 'elusive' text on Beryllium Nullifier which barely counts. I can understand that if any race was going to feed spell-based effects into the class it would be the Blood Elves, but still.

As for the flood of recent hand disruption, what really sucks with it is that the biggest losers are off-meta/meme decks. It can be tough enough to pull off shenanigans to begin with, and it only gets tougher with everyone having ways to delete your key cards before you get to use them.

Putricide has made the first(?) ever class swap from hunter to rogue, which makes perfect sense since he was always misplaced in hunter to begin with. I guess we can expect Anub'arak to do the same and move to druid, given all their nerubian cards so far.

Presumably being a DK rather than a shadow priest is just a choice (either yours or the Lich King's, depending how much autonomy you have), since playable classes are always a matter of mechanical convenience rather than strictly distinct entities in the lore. Many NPCs don't fall neatly into the playable classes, for example. So I think it's fine to have an undead worgen shadow priest, especially since it would be assumed Arthas raised it in this case.

Amber Whelp is about 2 years too late. Only priest is playing dragons now, and I dont see why they'd play this card. It does powercreep both Scalerider and Blackwing Corruptor

There's definitely scope for a frost wyrm priest (aka undead dragon priest) this expansion, so I'd hold off any meta judgments on the whelp 'til we've seen what all the classes are doing
