Night Elves can be born with a variety of colored hair, including "old man silver". From the pictures, I'd wager he's a lot younger than Illidan. If he was past his prime, I doubt he'd train him. Of course, I could be wrong. But I doubt someone older than Illidan would seek to be a Demon Hunter, there were quite a lot of them that didn't take too kindly in what he did.
Handbuffs for DH is suppose to be one of their weaknesses, so I doubt it. They could give them handbuffs, but at this time, it's only neutrals via Costumed Entertainer and Claw Machine.
