Fully focus on Emperor Thaurissan and ignore everything else on his side of the board. I don't know exactly what caused it, but something set off a bomb that triggered other bombs and blew up the entire board including all my mercs, but because I still had a merc on the bench I won. So try to bring him down by enough such that a chain reaction of bombs will kill him.

Agreed, I've done Thaurissan run twice and targeting him seems to be working for my comp. He occasionally targets your highest Health Merc and its neighbors with a 25 dmg attack (it was him right? I'm not mixing him with another boss?) which can easily cause the two bombs on your side to explode and trigger the chain reaction described above (especially when paired with his abomination taunt thing).

Yes, you can, but for now, you will have to use cardID in our database, if it is not a unique name, so for example, to link Alexstrasza, you would have to use number 14293 instead of her name between the brackets. You can find cardID in its URL on its card page.

None of the mercs are unique solely due to us having all three different card arts for them in database. But yes additional problems will arise if it's also the name of a collectible card in "Traditional Hearthstone", as Blizzard likes to call it. Using IDs should be fool-proof.

I must've looked at a wrong list when determining the archetype :D Yeah the deck doesn't even run poisons to support Kingsbane, it's just Pirate Aggro. Let me do some edits...

Apparently there were some pre-order codes hidden in the video.

There's a handful of countries which are not eligible for the rewards as well, you can check the full rules for pack drops here. Haven't had any problems myself so I don't have any other ideas what the issue could be.

Just checked by logging into HS, no packs yet despite watching for a bit over 2.5 hours.

I was brutally denied by Swizard not posting new decks but holding them for the series :D

More players promoted (should a retiring player finish outside relegation spots, that is).

Lorinda tweets about the class/archetype distribution every week before the matches start in case you want check those out early. A short summary:

    • Demon Hunter and Rogue stayed among the top 3 classes, and are now accompanied by Druid.
    • Warlock is still a thing, although the amount of picks varies heavily between regions.
    • Priest got obliterated.
    • Warrior became a thing, they're all Control/Big though, not Questline/Pirate.
    • Some Paladins were brought.
    • muzzy felt extra spicy this week, bringing Hero Power Mage and Questline Hunter.

I've addressed that within the spoiler before the quote with "Note that the section discussing gameplay format is no longer accurate. Weeks 2, 4, and 6 will be played using Last Hero Standing and every other week will use Conquest." Arguably it could be more clear since the blue text definitely draws your eyes more but I have not ignored it completely.

I'm a bit of a sucker for achievements and I was very worried what kind of achievements Mercenaries would bring with them, but all in all these seem very fair to me. Doesn't look like PvP would be required which is a massive plus.

No luck for me either, but tbh I usually only play the three matches that the quest requires. I guess most people don't do the quest in Ranked (even faced a Dragon Hunter in Wild today but no Noz, missed opportunity).

Not yet live. It should go live in a bit less than 13 hours from this comment.

Ah yes it can be interpreted like that, my bad. I still want it to take damage but it should affect the hero's Health, i.e. if you have armor and take damage without your Health changing, you wouldn't get quest progress. I definitely think Warlock quest doesn't need any additional buffs so healing shouldn't count :D

This article is almost fully focused on Wild. (And what it does have about Standard is inaccurate - for example, Quest Warlock decks only relied on fatigue damage for the first few days after the expansion released.)

In Standard, Quests really don’t seem to be a problem. According to the latest VS report (#205), Quests are found in only 1 of the 4 tier 1 decks 1 of the 7 tier 2 decks! The Quest archetypes are mainly found in T3 and T4. People like to complain, but it’s really not a problem.

As for Wild: I’ve been playing the game for a few years, and I can’t remember a single period when the Wild community wasn’t angry about how broken their meta was. I can believe that Quest Warlock is a problem, but it seems like the fundamental problems go far deeper than that.

I will admit that much of my experiences come from Wild. In Standard I've only been grinding achievements and my MMR is so low that I can't say too much about the top player meta. As I believe I mentioned, I don't hate the current Standard meta but even there control doesn't really exist due to questlines pushing the meta to another direction. If it was just for this expansion I could accept it, but the questlines are going to stay there for the next 1.5-ish years.

For Wild: certainly, there's always the strongest decks which will always give rise to complaints, but as patinha mentioned this meta is something else. I can't recall a similar shift where the new expansion cards would overtake the entire format with such power. If the same would've happened in Standard, I'm pretty sure things would've been nerfed by now.

It sure is but it was bizarre enough that I kinda wanted to spotlight it. I doubt they'll ban anyone for trying it out if you really want to witness it yourself, but repeated abusing of the bug might get you in trouble.
