Looks like Blizzard is pushing a pirate tempo Rogue deck this expansion. I believe that the power of this card depends on the curve of said deck and how good the dredge cards that Rogue has access to are.

If you were to look at tempo Rogue during Rise of Shadows, it ran like 10-12 two drops, and the only cards above 4 mana would be used to win the game on the spot (e.g. Myra's Unstable Element, Heistbaron Togwaggle, sometimes Chef Nomi). If you instead looked at Galakrond Rogue (which could charitably be called a tempo Rogue deck), it had a much higher average card cost, so it could afford running more expensive cards that were less impactful.

From the cards we've seen so far, it looks like Blizzard expects a slower meta, so this could see play in a slower tempo Rogue list.

Ironically, I now have more phantom achievements than before. Yesterday there were 2 achievements I couldn't claim, and now there are 5.

I love this card because the idea and flavour is so sick, but I also hate it because I can envision myself losing to this card a lot.

Whoever designed the Paladin cards for this expansion must have really liked the song Holy by Justin Beiber and Chance the Rapper

I highly doubt that Pirate Warrior plays this. It's a 7 mana taunt minion that gives you pirates if and only if it dies. No aggressive deck wants this, not to mention the Questline reward already kills the opponent. It's like saying Tirion would be good in an aggressive Paladin deck because the 5/3 weapon can deal a lot of face damage

This isn't a Questline Warrior card. It's just too expensive and slow, and it's completely unnecessary alongside the Questline reward. The dream is obviously a 1 mana Smite, but just like highrolling Smite off Juggernaut, it just won't happen that often (especially because we're going to be seeing more pirates this expansion). Not to mention the deck that wants to play this card may not be playing many pirates at all; it's a pretty solid stalling tool for slower decks that also refills the hand with some nice value (with pirates such as Wealth Redistributor, Stonemaul Anchorman and the new Bootstrap Sunkeneer). In fact, depending on the pirates that are released this expansion, this card could become very powerful with a lot of high-value pirates.

I think you're comparing apples to oranges here. Mordresh and this dude fit in two entirely separate archetypes. Mech Mage is probably going to be some tempo/aggro deck that wants to do hit face, so even though this guy does a lot less damage, the reach might just be enough because they'll have done so much damage with their other mechs during earlier turns.

Also, "would make mech mage" is a surprisingly difficult tongue twister.

A mage in World of Warcraft (and Hearthstone, for that matter) doesn't necessarily mean Harry Potter-esque sorcerer/sorceress that flies on a broom in long robes with white beards. Mages and magic power in general have interacted with mechs in World of Warcraft long before GvG.

The reason why Mech Mage was a thing during GvG was because Gnomes are known for being incredibly powerful casters, and they would often infuse or power their mechanical constructs using magic. The whole concept of electrically powered devices is inherently arcane (since it's literally the manipulation of energy). Therefore, it's pretty much implied that almost all mechs are in some way arcane-fuelled.

If you're going to talk about the flavour of a card not fitting the lore, then please get the lore correct first.

Google Subnautica. It's an experience unlike any other.

Also, I'm guessing you're right that the Colossal +4 means that Xhilag summons 4 tentacles. I think it's also safe to assume that they aren't minions you put in your deck, because it would then contradict Xhilag.

You're right, it doesn't actually draw the card. It puts the dredged card on top of your deck. You can check out the demonstration on the official Hearthstone website to see it work, it has a pretty sick animation

I suppose there's the fringe possibility that Dredge becomes a very prominent mechanic, in which case this will probably not see play. That said, we did see a Hooktusk in the video, so it might end up being a filler pirate if Pirate Rogue doesn't get enough support.

Is it just me or is Bootstrap Sunkeneer just a better Vilespine Slayer? If that's the case, then I'm going to be a very happy boy.

It seems alright for a slower Warlock deck, especially because it can tutor a bunch of the strong Fel spells like [Hearthstone Card (Dark Portal[Hearthstone Card (, Felosophy (if you're playing big demons), Demonic Assault or Unstable Felbolt, while also dealing 3 to all enemies.

It's extremely niche, and I feel like that's been a theme for this expansion. All the cards look cool, but they're just so all over the place that there's no real cohesion between anything.

Very interesting you mention Fel DH because this is a Warlock card

If [Hearthstone Card (Ziliax) Not Found] has taught us anything, a card doesn't have to be flashy to be pretty good.

And this seems pretty good. Not outstanding, but the weapon is great and the hero power is above average.

You're not playing this in Quest Mage. That deck plays too many cards with targets, and if you play this then you're relying on those randomly cast spells hitting good targets.

You play this in a deck with very specific spells that don't have targets like Grand Finale or Counterspell.

Elemental Mage was fantastic in KotFT, but I assume when you say Elemental Mage you mean something like Elemental Shaman.

The cards that have been revealed are really all over the place. They are each interesting in their own way and they all look really solid, but they provide support for decks that don't exist yet.

This is further support towards the theory that Blizzard uses BGs to test mechanics before they're put into proper cards.
