The dev team use to have a 2 expansion lead time so for the new core set, I think the plans for that would have started well before any controversies. I have a feeling this was always on the cards.
The only thing I could see that may have changed in that time is that they decided to make the whole core set free rather than something that you can build up and craft into.
Won't Murloc Warleader buff ALL murlocs on the board (yours and the enemies) like it use to? Also does Secret Keeper currently buff on anyone playing a secret and if so, will that come back too?
I won with Jaraxxus as well. Also pulled off a decent meme with Silas and Howlfiend. Discarded 4 of their cheat cards so their game plan was pretty much hosed.

Given how they royally screwed the last major update, I'm not looking forward to the next one.
Also aren't we getting cheated out of dust that we'd normally been compensated for for having a classic card being forcibly rotated out of standard? This fact alone makes me not optimistic for the future stuff coming.
You're just stating facts. I wouldn't be apologetic about it. It's not your fault that Blizzard isn't pretending fixes that they implemented are holidays deals.
Keep calling things as they are. You shouldn't feel responsible for how other people react to the truth.
I'm not that keen on the language used regarding Daily quests.

Thats for how things were with the past expansion. When you factor in the mid-season set, relatively speaking we'll be behind a fair bit.
That's without even knowing what kinds of cards we'll get. If there is a decent number of epics and legendaries in that set, a good chunk of the player base is just screwed.
This is no communication blunder or general mishap. This is a calculated move from start to finish. Blizzard is testing out how far they can go. The entire timing and process clearly points towards intention from their side.
This is very much a good read of the situation.
One thing that a lot of people overlook are the lies that were made both before and even with the recent response. For instance Ben spoke of us earning more gold as their intent when it was very clear from the language of several Blizzard employees that the gold we'd get would be about equivalent to the old system.
Another likely lie is that it was always their intent to offer bonus XP. However, if that were true, this whole debacle could have been nipped in the bud with us knowing about bonus XP from Day 1. It seems pretty clear that bonus XP was never their original intent but instead something that they made up within the past few days as a response to the community's backlash.
These sorts of moves by companies are almost never accidents or missteps. The exact same sequence of events have occurred with so many battle pass/economy changes with many other games e.g. Apex and Fallout 76.
This is why the community shouldn't just be content with being "listened" to and accept meagre changes. I'm glad to see that the community on both Reddit and the official Forums haven't relent and I hope we're no different here.
Thanks for making this post but I really wish you spoke out in the beginning when it would have mattered and not when it was safe to do so after a bunch of more prominent people on Youtube and Twitter thought it finally acceptable to do so.

So what's the situation if you're more of a casual player that only does enough to complete the dailies (in the old system) and saves maybe enough gold for 20-30 packs for the new expansion?
Are people like me on average better or worse off with the new system?
While I'm happy for Dave and his new venture I'm personally a little disappointed. Is there anyone up to Dave or Brode's calibre for future announcement streams?
Also, are there any of the OG crowd still around anymore? Is it just Iksar?
Given that we have this useful feature, are we ever going to see a card collection manager for this site like there use to be one back when things were being run on Hearthpwn?
The card collection thing is the only reason why I still visit Heathpwn at all as I much prefer the news here.
Would be handy to know what you can build/what cards you're short for these duel decks.
