I was under the impression that Riot's vision was more about paid-vs-unpaid, not casual-vs-hardcore.
I mean, it seems obvious to me that someone who plays more will always get more rewards than someone who plays less. To throttle things so severely that that's not the case will never be acceptable to the people who are enjoying the game the most.
As for the paid-vs-unpaid divide, I think that is also somewhat misunderstood. The idea is not to keep them completely even -- that is literally impossible as long as there are cards in the store. The idea is to make sure free players can get enough cards to have at least one or two viable decks fairly soon; I think they've succeeded in that mission.
This... I am a f2p player and feel I have viable decks. I will certainly not have all the options or the power of paying players, but that's the price I pay (or refuse to pay) by staying f2p. The fact that I am able to field decks that are competitive while not putting any money down yet is a credit to Riot's design (at least so far... it is still very early, but hopefully they can keep it going).
a normal Intellectual Player spends usually 130-250bucks per expansion and have everything from that and then never opens packs from that expansion. so if cards get nerfed you get back everything for the next expansion to spend less there.

Favorite thing(s) was the through line of the plot the entire year (as far as the story is concerned) and the media associated with it as well as the win by VKLiooon; looking forward to the next Master's Tournament
LOL I didn't badmouth Riot, just stated my own personal enthusiasm was diminishing and related what I experienced. I stated it doesn't bode well in my opinion, but never stated Riot was a company that no one should ever support (or whatever you are assuming I feel regarding Riot). I only expressed concern that there was conflicting information (and yes, I checked forums and website articles and determined that others had some luck where I had not) regarding the messages delivered by Riot to me via the registration emails and what was reported by other users (which, I believe, should be taken with a grain of salt).
I would also suggest that your assumption that I am "very obviously desperate to play" LoR is also misguided, as I don't think I am ever desperate to play any game; I have on this website recommended caution before jumping on any hype train. I also have not "lashed out" at anyone, either individual or company (not sure where that came from). To be honest, the only person I think that has "lashed out" at anyone here would be your first sarcastic comment directed at me.
Your free to think this however; I hope the experience is rewarding and that LoR is all you hope it will be. I hope it exceeds my expectations as well, although I am not as confident as I once was. I hope that final statement is one you do not find offensive, for yourself or on Riot's behalf. Be well.
Didn't claim you want to win (although I admit I probably assumed that would be at least a part of your desire to play, as most find no joy in always losing), also didn't claim you think netdecking is bad or good, just stated that you would be disappointed in your play as you will find you are often competing against optimized decks. I am not attempting to provoke a netdecking discussion (unless it is a meta-analysis of how the goals of players creates the dynamic) much less any kind of argument; just trying to give you a heads up what to expect and why.
Enthusiasm for this title is rapidly diminishing... registered in mid-October and still haven't received a beta key; every time I check my status, it states it is pending (and that I should just wait). The website doesn't give you the option to enter a support ticket (the only link that works goes to a LoL support ticket submission screen)... Does not bode well with me for polish and play of the actual game...
Interesting; while I would probably prefer the dungeon-crawl style of the previous solo adventures, I really like the split story idea and hope it's implemented well. The cards previewed go from decent to bonkers (a paladin reborn mech for 2 mana???), but I am excited!
Unfortunately, if your main complaint is that you find meta decks/netdecking is making your play boring because you find yourself playing against the same decks all the time, I have some bad news... optimization and the desire to win will dictate the best decks will be played the most frequently, so you are probably going to have this problem regardless.
I agree it can be very frustrating to see the same play goals and style often, but that is the nature of competition; if a team could score a goal every 5 minutes in a world cup match by playing a certain way, do you think they will take advantage of that? Yes, people could try new decks and play with the optimization, but seeing as the meta does that naturally, most people aren't skilled and confident enough to believe they know better than HSReplay (and, for the most part, we're right).
You could view this a bit differently though; even if you play 5 opponents all using the same deck, with the amount of RNG in HS the experience should never be exactly the same... sure, when playing a rogue you are probably going to see them attempting to use Necrium Apothecary by turn 4, but will they be able to? Can you make some plays that will make them rethink that strategy or divert them from it entirely? Maybe, maybe not, but given the vast variability in this game your play experience should often differ.
OutofCards has a great series called Meta-Breaker where the author takes the most dominant (usually) deck in the meta and tries to create a counter; maybe this is something you could explore if you want to diversify the meta? Just saying that, since you can't control what others will do, maybe you find ways to reduce your boredom with the game.
TLDR: People like to win and that won't change, so maybe find ways to enjoy that fact through diversifying your play and meta breaking?
I am SO looking forward to trying this out... never played a SMOrc deck and this looks like a ton of fun. Even if I lose, it will still be a good time!
Great card; only downside would be if you were intending to mill, but then you wouldn't have it in your deck. Solid stats with added bonus of messing with highlander and combo decks... I would guess this card will frustrate many :)
Meh, kind of slow... by the time this hits the opponent should be able to handle two 0/3s, but you are at least left with with the original drop (could think of it as a delayed charge in that way).. Might see play in dragon decks.
Crazy powerful; three dragons for 9 mana, with all of the great dragons being released so far, I think this will be in a ton of decks. Let the highlander players rejoice... again... :P
If widely adopted, this has the potential to break the game... the 10 card hand-limit has been static for as long as I've been playing; to introduce a break to that changes mill decks, accelerates draw decks with no punishment... it's crazy how pervasive this card could get

Very helpful, I didn't realize patience and proactive attempts at resolution suggested a need for an attitude adjustment.

Ridiculously OP at first glance; I don't know how it will work out in meta, but the card is decent without the upgrade
This has crazy applications as so many decks are based on copying a single card... I hope this resets a lot of the decks in the meta
