I think the bundle itself is pretty good value if you consider it in a Hearthstone bubble (value in terms of Hearthstone has lost all meaning to me, £16.99 buys a top tier indie game!).
They have timed it very poorly though and it's a bit of a slap in the face when there is value related stuff to fix already.
I have bought the paid path so this expansion is kind of a test for me. I play around 5 or 6 games a night when I can so if I cannot reach the end after paying for extra xp then I shall not bother next expansion.
If you are not playing in ranked then you probably don't really care about the 1k portraits anyway. You will always win games, even if lose a lot your MMR will drop until you face players more your skill level.
In my only case of Legend climb attempt (few minutes ago), it was in Wild, which is possibly easier.
But I made it by taking a deck that proved strong to me (Discolock) and tuned it against the meta I was expecting and actually encountering: in Wild it was full of board&weapon Aggro, so I went for Freeze package (3 cards, not just 1), and it worked really well.
So maybe trying to tech against the meta may help. I don't know how to counter Standard higher meta, or if it is possible at all, but the principle should be of some help.
PS: and yes, as og0 suggested, you need the right state of mind: get rid of expectations, you already reached a great result. Anything that comes now from D4 and on should be taken as a gift. Just play at your best and try to laugh at your bad luck when it happens. Legend rank is a side effect.
Trying to counter the meta you find? Admirable, but mistaken.
Each time i do that, like either changing decks or tech some cards in like silence or oozes, those opponents are gone and only appear like 2 times out of 20 when before it was like 8 or more times.
I hear ppl saying this ALL THE TIME, and it really triggers me cause it just feels like they are playing a different game than me. Like for real give me your account so that i can play against the decks that im ready to face.
Like all those streamers and their youtube videos like "pick this deck and farm the X deck" and im like "bro each time i do that those decks become a rarity to face". Like for real whats the secret behind tech or deck countering and actually facing them? cause i dont know what it is.
This is my experience every.. damn.. time...
I'll be playing and running into Pirate warrior every other game (wild) so I tech in a couple of Golakka Crawler. Lo and behold I never see another pirate warrior again. That's just an example, if I never want to see a secret mage ever again I just tech in a Eater of Secrets, that's me never playing Secret mage ever again until the very next game after I take them out!
As long as it works the other way too. I never want to have to play arena, I hate that game mode. I get my tickets from the pre-order and just retire my decks just to get the packs.
They can't even do a giveaway right.
What is happening lately?
Both Shaman and Druid its Lighting Bloom that needs the nerf. I think this card was a mistake to print. It's too powerful.

Do we know the cost of the paid track yet?
Secret mage back in standard again!
Something with the original Scarlet Monastery would be good.
Thats a lot of big names out of GM.

I got Chenvaala as it's the only mage legendary I was missing.
Middle Jaina is the best one!
So they have all this dialogue but couldn't add some new lines to the new Jaina hero portrait that costs money?
I just installed it as a third party app.
I'll get dust from 1 x golden Secret Passage and 2 x Darkglare.
I dont see darkglare ever being played again.
I kept golden guardian animals, lightning bloom and Blessing of authority as I reckon they'll before nerfed before too long.
I crafted her. Even if it's just in the meta every now and then it is a fun card, like you say.
I really want to play that Libram Paladin but I don't have Lynessa Sunsorrow and she seems a very niche craft in wild.
Decisions, decisions...

Have they fixed the visual bug where your opponent plays Lorekeeper Polkelt and your cards get shuffled?
I started playing some odd paladin as it got quite a few new cards this expansion.
Oh no, I run into not one but two people playing odd warrior. I haven't seen odd warrior for ages. I swear this match making is rigged.
Everytime I think to queue a deck i haven't played for a while i queue into its exact counter.
