MTG clearly copying HS, who would say... Odd/even mechanic, even Ultimate Infestation has shown up
Would you say the new HS card Phoenix that creates a 0/3 reborn on next turn is not a copy of the MTG Arena Rekindling Phoenix?
Card games draw inspiration from each other. MTG is on its 55th expansion? Pretty sure you can dig almost every card out of HS in Magic's History.
The only problem I see with this expansion is that UW and Bant have so many removal and delay tools. Big late-game creatures are so vulnerable to ECD, Agent, Single removal. Creature decks need to create pressure from the early stages of the game to compete with Control Decks in Magic.
I think their goal is to drain the people that want cosmetics from their gold. I invested about $150 for the last 8 months. Currently, have an almost a full collection from Rare drafting, then turning gold item gems. Takes me about 67 drafts to get most of what I need to just open packs after.
Not to mention that Historic Event Challenge is a great way to farm historic cards. You get 3 rares for 5 wins, easy Mono Green Stompy farm. 2 wins and you break even in gold investment.
He was the face of the expansion that is the main reason. They will ban him soon enough or face some serious backlash. Right now you cant play artifacts efficiently.
MTG is fine as F2P. I was F2P for 2 months with Mono Red and Mono Black deck. I then made a clear break from HS (no more real money for it.) I was able to climb to Plat with Mono Red (Experimental Frenzy is broken.)
I was able to craft some fun experimental decks from free cards and packs. Now i spend about $200 which has given me enough to craft 4 competitive decks with either drafts or pack purchase. The more you learn how to play magic the better rewards you will get. I have done about 35 drafts now and about 14 of them have generated profits and the rests either break even or return me about 50% of my investment.
Its true you will always lack rare cards above everything else. I also didnt bother to craft anything that would rotate next expansion. Magic is a better place to spend time and resources. HS is a fun game but it can be so tilting due to RNG. Just loosing a game based on the power level of a Death Knight or getting Conjure Giant because you didnt have removal on turn 4. (I have a full collection on HS, however moving forward i will only collect golds and packs for cards.)
Also I have spend $200 on a game that I have played for about 10 hrs a week for about 3 months now. That is less than a nice dinner or beer a day.
Well that's certainly a huge increase compared to before!
I really still don't know how I feel about battle passes in card games. It's certainly a cool way to incentivize people to login while spending money since it is just too good of a deal, but I don't know, I feel like it can contribute to more burnout. I burned out of Apex Legends before I finished my battlepass and felt bad I was 20 levels away so I bought them. Now I'm not even playing season 2 because I feel like I'll be missing out if I don't buy the pass but I don't have the time to complete it. I'm in a similar boat with Magic where I'm playing much more Hearthstone atm so the pass almost doesn't make sense, maybe.
Regardless, good on them for actually hearing the community.
I agree. The battle pass is just too much temptation and forces you to play a lot more Fear of Missing Out on cosmetics. They said that they will remove the purchase of levels from the in your face temptation. Magic has provided a much needed break from HS.
If you complete your quests and earn all your weekly wins, you’ll be able to reach Level 67 by the end of set, even if you only play once a week (before any codes or events). Previously, you’d only be able to reach Level 32.
If you play more than once per week, you’ll be able to reach at least Level 74 by the end of a set (before any codes or events). Previously, the minimum level you could be expected to reach was 46.
HS is still fun here and there. However I do not enjoy it nearly as much as MTG. I think that the point of MTG is that you can only focus on a few decks instead of every single card in the game. I mainly play casual and get to Diamond on Ladder. In casual there are a lot of decks to play against, I play around with the collection I have. I did use about $150. (I have spent about $600 in Hearthstone over the last four years. There a lot of dead cards in HS that never see play at all.)
I looked around and drafted with a purpose not 100% to win every run but to create the decks I wanted. Took a while to decide what I wanted to choose. I decided on Mono-Red, Feather and Simic Ramp. I was able to get those decks with in three weeks. I had about 8 drafts that went 5-7 wins, which make it a profit or break even ( I also had some 1-2 wins.)
I did a lot of reading and learning in order to get what I wanted. Mainly my idea was to get a control deck (ramp simic), Midrange (feather), aggro mono-red.
I am going to wait and see if i want to chase after white winnie or just save for Esper (but they are loosing a few key tools in the fall.) I refuse to craft anything that will rotate in the fall.
There will not be any money spent on HS anymore. The main reason I played HS was because of mobile however playing complex decks on mobile is just too much. So now that I play on my computer MTG is the way to go.
right click on Notepad - select Run as Administrator
answer "yes" to the pop-up about allowing changes - blah blah bla
open the file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts (you'll have to change the file-type drop-down to "all" instead of txt files since hosts doesn't have an exention)

Brawl is free for this month.
Running atm something similar.
Cleaned it up a bit. Removed Narset she was a scam and put in some more consistent card draw.

Yeah, but keeping that hand was so greedy. If he would it hit the land he would it for sure had a very good chance of winning.

8 people draft is going to be great.
In the road map, we also have cube draft which should be fun. I have been playing MTG now for 9 months and its so much more fun than hearthstone.
Would be interesting to add Bo3 and a small sideboard to HS.
2019: The release of BattleGrounds
2020: The release of cards that are less powerful and more interactive.
He was the face of the expansion that is the main reason. They will ban him soon enough or face some serious backlash. Right now you cant play artifacts efficiently.
No more money for hearthstone :) MTG now.
There is a super fun event called Ravnica Guild Battle atm. They provide the decks and its a fun way to explore archtypes.

I think that my favorite card is going to be:
Dark Pharaoh Tekahn
For the reason that is great tempo card. Currently Warlock is in such a strange place between Zoo and Heavy control (with out realistic tools.)
