Can we please start getting some new characters for portraits? I do not want 5 different versions of most of these characters. I would rather have hero portraits of characters like Tirion, Dr. Boom, Rotface, or Sneed to name a few.
Regis said it best. They are more like alternative hero powers that can be used x amount of times. I remember in one of the developer discussions someone asked if they would ever consider replacing hero powers with a spell that was cast during the game. I think it was Iskar who responded that they thought about it but didn't think it would be fun if mage could keep casting Devolving Missiles every turn. Well it looks like they may have found their workaround.
I really hope they make a card that allows players to swap the basic hero power effect with a location effect for the rest of the game. For example, Warrior could tap into armor 3 times but use the Cruel Taskmaster -1 effect for the rest of the game. That could lead to a bunch of different ways to play your deck. The shaman one is also in the game already via [Hearthstone Card (Deathseeker Thrall) Not Found]'s hero power in wild.
The change should have been: "Battlecry: Discover a spell that costs 1 or more that didn't start in your deck"
Despite the synergies Mire Keeper has with choose one cards from the last 3 expansions, I would rather have Greedy Sprite instead. I would like to see Druid earn their ramp with minions on board and have a risk of them being silenced or transformed. Speaking of evolve mechanics, I like the Fel Reaver and Eerie Statue inclusion.
I really like the core set of ingredients but I was hoping to make a Wild recipe! Where can I find Whizbang the Wonderful's Whale Meat Soup recipe?
I'm going to go out on a 'limb' and say for neutral, N'Zoth will be the only Colassal legendary and comes with Colossal +6.
I like your idea for paladin. I am envisioning multiple seahorses as the appendages pulling around a huge mech. Or maybe an Elemental since that tribe hasn't been seen yet. Colossal +4
Shaman will probably get the hydra/medussa one with piranhas for appendages that unfortunately have the freeze mechanic. It would be funny if the head was actually a totem. Colossal +5
I have no idea what hunter will get, but I wouldn't rule out a flying creature with multiple beaks or an extra wing. Something like a menacing Seahawk that could be associated with the water theme. Colossal +3
Let me mark this one on my Bingo card. Oh look its in the lower corner: 'Card that rehashes an older tavern Brawl'
I hope the new keyword makes a big 'splash' ... I'll show myself out now.
My money is on the keyword Recruit coming back. Put Master Oakheart in the coreset and all of a sudden you have at least 20 different ways to utilize him in the deck building phase. Vandar Stormpike synergizes with him in "big/combo" style decks for all 10 classes, or you could make a hate deck with troggs and outposts without Vandar for starters. There are already some intriguing 1,2 and 3 attack minions to choose from. If the team slowly adds some Legendaries and epics that synergize with Oakheart for each class, they could strengthen class identity through these bridge cards and finishers.
Recruit can be a fair keyword if the cards are designed correctly. Ungoro had a lot variety in its meta and is considered to be the best expansion in hearthstone. I can't think of another card that could rival Oakheart in terms of variety (unless they reprint it). The meta just needs to slow down a bit or maybe just buff Oakheart to 8 or less (also make sure Druid does not get out caontrol). Now I don't think for a second that the team in its current state is capable of giving us another Ungoro but I can dream.
It is really sad that the warrior quest had its focus on pirates when it should have been focused on managerie. They already had a bridge card in Tent Trasher and a big payoff card in N'zoth. But of course let's not give any real support to midrange or control ( outside of a useless Paladin quest and way too slow priest quest). Aggro needs more love obviously. Meanwhile, we have to live with this crap until team 5 eventually and reluctantly has to admit to their mistake. Don't worry though guys it won't happen anytime soon as someone else at Blizzard just reminded Dean again how good he is at designing cards!
Witchwood had a lot of good things but it also had one of the most useless mechanics ever in hearthstone. You probably forgot about the 'swap' mechanic. The ability of certain cards to swap attack and health in hand at the start of your turn was touted as a key mechanic along with rush during the expansions announcement. This is what Dean was probably referencing.
I haven't played or seen this card in a while. Did they update it for Barrens , Stormwind, or Darkmoon for their respective keywords? It would be nice if Transfer Student could get a yearly update for all sets going forward.
Similar to Bring It On!. I don't think that card saw too much play, and I don't think this one will either. It will need synergy with frost spells, 2-cost spells, or dare I say Spell Warrior!... none of which exist as of this reveal.
Very good news. Some of us haven't even had a chance to play it yet. 1 month seems like a good amount of time for an event like this.
I had a problem with Jerry Rig Carpenter the other day. I was playing the Uldum choose one quest in wild and had it completed. I played the carpenter and the red target graphic came up. I was confused so I aborted the action and returned it to my hand (something you shouldn't be able to do with that card). I tried again and the game seemed insistent that I target something. I could not target the enemy minions so I opted to target my own frozen damaged minion. It did nothing, and after a small delay I got the 2 free cards from Hidden Oasis. Weird bug!
I had complained about Primordial Protector early in the Barrens. While it is technically not a violation of the no Duplicate rule, it sure is a violation of the spirit of the rule. You are not supposed to get a third copy of an epic before collecting 2 copies of the rest. This needs to be changed. Team 5 should completely take them out of the pack pool and actually use the rewards track as its own micro mini set. Increase the rewards from 1 to 2 commons, 2 rares, 2 epics and maybe another legendary (all nuetrals and golden versions for the paid track) that can go into tier 2 type decks . The result would be different players unlocking these cards at different times leading to more experimentation and more deck variety for hopefully a more varied ladder experience for a majority of the expansion. Make these particular cards uncraftable until the expansion is over and make them non-disenchantable until they rotate out of standard. All reward cards should be disenchantable at rotation.
I will be playing buff pally in wild (not librams) while finishing the Invigorating Sermon achievement. It is a pretty brainless deck.
I really hope Flamewaker gets changed to activating only when Fire spells are cast. I'm sick of machine gun mage.
There is a lot to like and dislike about the potential for both classes. Naturally I will look at the glass half empty. In the end I see Death Knight as another 'swarm' class that will end games quickly. Monk will probably be more about getting a couple of minions to stick. I will go with monk.
I am happy I came here to get this info from you guys before launching the game. I have learned to make a habbit of this before new expansions because of past issues. I just got home from work. I will hold off on opening my classic packs until the issue is resolved. Are Barren's packs working well? Oh, and to the people who took off of work today, I understand your excitement; but after the disasterous Diablo 3 launch you should've known better.
