Strong disagree here. I currently play multiple CCGs, have a family, a full-time job, and a second job working on this website. With new sets releasing every couple of months for everything it's honestly hard to keep up with card names and what they do. It's much easier to see an image and say "Hey, I know exactly what that is and what it does". Otherwise, you may have to re-read text and maintain focus on those cards over multiple turns, which can cost you the game just by not recognizing what you're looking at.

I understand you may have absolutely no issue with multiple alternate pieces of artwork for a card, but it's not for everyone. I don't think we need to expect all players to identify the cards in exactly the same way, or give them grief about not appreciating different artwork at the same level you do. Also, it's one thing if you add an "alter" to your own deck, but if your opponent does it, you might be at a disadvantage.

I remember in my twenties I loved getting Japanese copies of MTG cards (this was well before alterations hit the scene) and would add them to my decks. Some people hated playing against them because they were not familiar enough with the cards to know what they did. I always had English versions on hand, but I think it makes people feel stupid if they have to ask what a card does. The cards looked cool (to me) but I probably should have been more considerate of other players.

Personally, I agree that it needs a change for Ranked play. However, no one has really been talking about the card's impact on limited play.

I was thrilled to see it removed from the Crimson Guard bucket for Expeditions in Patch 1.2. A card like Unyielding Spirit can ruin a draft, with little, to absolutely no way to deal with it. I know, because I got hammered with a buffed Deadbloom Wanderer the other day. My opponent was over there gaining 6 Health each round and I was unable to do a single thing about it.

Getting it out of Expeditions is a pretty big deal, IMO.

Great job putting this together, meisterz39! At some point we'll probably convert this to a guide.

You all do a great job predicting which cards are gonna be hit. Sometimes eerily on point!

    Current Patch

    PATCH 1.10

    Patch Schedule

Starting with Patch 1.2, Legends of Runeterra will follow the schedule below to ensure that PC and mobile users are seeing changes at roughly the same time.

    • Tuesday (previously Mondays), ~10 AM PT
      • Patch notes article goes live (unchanged).
    • Tuesday, ~9:30-10:30 AM PT
      • We’ll deploy the new client to PC and the app stores. Players will be able to immediately update on PC, while mobile may take several hours based on your location.
      • This deployment will now be client-only, with no visible changes—think of it as the foundation for the new patch. You’ll be able to play afterwards as normal (though matchmaking will be separated by version), but functionally it’ll feel like you’re playing on the previous patch (in almost all cases).
    • Wednesday, ~9:30-10:30 AM PT
      • We’ll push a data-only update that enables the new changes. You’ll briefly bounce to the Ashe loading screen if you’re in-client but won’t have to re-log (and games won’t be interrupted). We'll also force-update everyone to the new version—if you haven’t updated, you won’t be able to queue until you download the new version from your app store or re-log on PC.

    Upcoming Patches

    • Patch 1.11 - September 29 (balance update focused on Targon)

This card is broken, IMO. It's gotta have a nerf coming. I think Burst should be changed to Slow and targeting any ally should be changed to Followers only. At least that way you can respond to it and don't have to worry about an unkillable Champion on the board.

It doesn't help that most of them are Epic too.

Riptide makes more sense in the Maokai decks because you can Obliterate whatever you throw back.

Make sure you're doing Expeditions each week. Even if you win 0 games you'll still get an Epic Capsule, which can upgrade (the cards inside it too), and if you get to 7 wins you'll get 2k in Shards. That's only 1k away from crafting a new Champion. Also, don't forget to level your Vault at least to level 10 each week. You're guaranteed a Champion Wildcard at that level. You can also roll the dice and just get your Vault to level 5 cause you will get a random Champion there. Good luck!

I drafted an Expedition with Gangplank yesterday and had a blast. Kalista is also a favorite of mine, so I'll definitely be trying this out!

We have not made a guide for that yet, but we promise to get around to it soon!

Me too, but I actually got a couple through rewards, so that makes the decision easier. =)

Yes. They discussed it back in January when they did their Beta and Beyond video. Timestamp didn't work - start at 4:56 for your answer.

I felt the same way, but that's how they wrote it. They just glossed over that whole part!

We apologize for the wait, but we've finally got the code generator up and running! Thanks for your patience!

"Aspiring Communists" is where you lost me.

I'm glad we have lots of options other than only Hearthstone. The biggest difference, and game changer for me, is the generosity of Legends of Runeterra. It is so much easier to get the cards you want to be able to play with in Runeterra than you could ever hope for in Hearthstone.

I can't decide if this is my favorite or not because they were all so good!

Thanks for helping us track down the problem. It looks like it's including additional cards, which is why you get an error when trying to import it because it's too many cards. We're looking into it and hope to have it fixed soon!
