I think it will stay the same. They call the current XP boost “small”, so apparently they don’t think that is a big factor on its own.

Personally, I think the XP boost is worth about 2000 gold, which means that it mostly pays for itself and the cosmetics are a bonus. If the team doesn’t see it like that but leaves the XP boost in, then I guess that works too.

Pizza Stone (February 2019) is the one card back I’d pay for, and unfortunately I started playing the game in March 2019. I was worried that they wouldn’t be bring recent card backs like this back for a while, so I’m glad to see Awesome Blossom on the list. With that precedent set, I can hope for a pizza card eventually.

Not sure what I think of this. I could agree that Gauntlets need some refinement, but this doesn’t seem better. Singleton is the weaker ruleset, but having two is still better than having one. I’d suggest coming up with a couple more Gauntlet formats, and THEN turning Singleton into a once-every-few-months thing.

The Gauntlets ARE long, yes. But 7 victories aren’t that hard. I’m an ok player (Gold league, could probably grind to Plat if I didn’t have kids), but I get at least 4 victories consistently. Sometimes I achieve 7. I guess I’ll now be earning Prime Glories almost every week. They won’t feel like they mean much. They certainly won’t feel appropriate for something that can get you into a global tournament.

You scared me with your mention of the season ending this Friday. But I just double-checked. Unless I’m misunderstanding something, this extra-long season stretches until March 3rd. This Friday is the cut-off for Seasonal Tournament qualification, so that’s probably what you’re referring to

Oops, you’re right. I was thinking that Duels arrived with the second expansion of the year rather than the third. If it was only available for a couple months, those numbers are really good.

I never would have guessed that Arena gets more plays than Tavern Brawl. There are dedicated Arena players, sure, but most people barely touch the mode. On the other hand, almosteveryone plays a game or two in the Brawl each week, and I assumed some casual players keep coming back to it. After all, that must be why the Tavern Brawl gets top billing on the main screen while the Arena is hidden away in a secondary screen.

I guess I was wrong. But Duels’ poor showing is, sadly, predictable. Even accounting for the fact that it was introduced late in the year, it had fewer plays than the other modes. Edit: Flux points out below that with how late in the year Duels arrived, its numbers are actually very good.

It’s amazing how much this game gives you. They went from being WAY TOO GENEROUS to merely VERY GENEROUS, and it caused an outcry on Reddit.

Even at the low point of the rewards, the single-player content was still an ok, low-stress source of XP and a good way to speed through quests that you might otherwise have trouble with. (I used them on Wednesday to quickly grind through my big Card Styles quest as well as one other quest I wasn’t ready for in my constructed decks. I’m looking forward to doing that again next Wednesday, and I’d be happy with any little XP bonus that comes with it.

I don't know what happened to remove this interaction altogether, because I still hold some sentiment to constantly playing 0-Cost Sages like it's nothing.

I’m pretty sure the second half of your sentence answers the question in your first half.

Honestly, I think it’s pretty easy to dive back into the game. If you have many resources saved up, you’ll be able to craft a meta deck right away. If not, you’ll be able to do itafter a few weeks. In the meantime, your favorite deck from a few months ago will still be viable, especially at the point in the ladder that you (and I) are at. Unlike Hearthstone, I’ve found that in Runeterra a fun off-meta deck I’m comfortable with will work as well as a meta deck I don’t know yet.

Yes, that phrase can be said in good faith or bad faith. Given that this system IS a lot more rewarding for most of us, it’s easy to conclude that they're not trying to screw us over.

It should start tomorrow. They always release patches on Tuesdays with the changes going live mid-day on Wednesday.

Reading between the lines in the latest Viscous Syndicate report, the answer seems to be two-fold:

    1) The deck is established enough to beat the experimental decks that people are trying right now.

    2) The deck can provide multiple cheap 2- and 3-damage AoE effects, which is really strong against the rising Token Druid.

Between those two factors, the deck is doing well for now. It sounds like it will struggle as the meta evolves, unfortunately. I’d love to see a consistent Secret Mage deck stick around.

Secret Mage is doing well? How did that happen?

    A couple corrections:

    Quote From Article
Achieving 7 wins rewards players with Prime Glory - a free win for the Last Chance Gauntlet at the end of the season.

You can retry as often as you want, and any 7-win run goes on your record as a “Glory”. However, you only earn a “Prime Glory” if you can do it on your first attempt of the weekend.

    Quote From Article
Get 7 wins in a row and reap the rewards!

Getting 7 wins in a row is satisfying, but doesn’t give you any bonuses. (At least, not that I know of.) To achieve Glory, you want to win 7 times without ever getting 2 losses in a row. The only special exception is that you get a single chance to earn your seventh win.

Good article. If anyone new is reading this, I encourage you NOT to get overwhelmed by the detail here.

The most important points to remember are:

    1. Don’t feel obligated to buy the new player starting pack. Unlike most games, you get so much for free that the cost isn’t worth it. Save your money for fun cosmetics!

    2. Aim for the rank 10 chest every week. It has great rewards and isn’t hard to get - complete your quests, play most days, and ideally win at least one game most days. That’s enough.

    3. Don’t worry about the rank 11 chest. It requires a lot more XP to get, and because you use most of your “easy” XP (from quests and the first daily win) to get to rank 10, that extra XP for rank 11 comes really slowly. And the extra stuff you get for every rank after 10 is minimal.

    4. Once you’ve been playing for several days and the system is starting to make sense, read the article's advice about maximizing the Region Road gains. It won’t seem so confusing at that point.

    5. You can expect to have enough resources to fully copy a meta deck after 4-6 weeks of playing. After that, you can probably copy a new one every 3-4 weeks. All for free!

That covers the basics. Enjoy the game!

Also, wrong complaint for this change. The problem was in Hysteria rather than Tiller, and people would have found a new way to abuse the card if it wasn’t fixed.

My advice on Aggro Rogue: When you’re regularly wielding weapons with 10 attack or more, then there is nothing you want more than another point of durability.Captain Greenskin absolutely provides more value than Jandice Barov. I also subbed 2x Shadowstep in place of Worgen Infiltrator mainly so that I can re-use Greenskin and Doctor Krastinov. That second substitution may be iffy - in my experience, I still have all the strength I could need in the early game, but it is sometimes harder to get the draw I need from Greyheart Sage. It’s working well for me so far, though.

Is there an article out there that explains Mythgard to people who play other CCGs? I’m not so much interested in a literal descriptio as I am in learning what would make someone choose it over another game. (For example, “If you wish Hearthstone was more _____ and Runeterra had a system for _____, Mythgard may be what you’re looking for.”)
