The issue with Zilliax is that it is too expensive and doesn't go through taunts like Lifedrinker. You could certainly have success pushing this down a more Mech-heavy route, but you'd have to cut a few cards and it would be a little bit less of a Face deck and lose a bit of advantage in some of it's heavily-favored matchups (could work, but I haven't tried it).

    1. If I don't have a 1-drop, I'll toss my whole hand most of the time. The Quest does not count as a 1-drop, it needs to be a minion that deals damage early and you're very likely to draw 1 with 6 in the deck. If you have a 1-drop already, I'd then mulligan for the Phase Stalker, Toxic Reinforcements, and Eaglehorn Bow in that order.

    2. Nah, I don't play wild much sorry (pretty much only Exodia Mage and Mill Rogue). The standard meta runs heals almost exclusively as a result of this deck. But if you're losing to Warlock, Paladin, and Priest I'm suprised; most of the meta is Shaman/Rogue.

It just depends on what I’m playing against, if my opponent is likely to have an answer I save it for use with the Hero Power (most often the case). If not,I’ll play it on curve and use it for tempo, sometimes there’s not another play.

Fair enough, this version is a few days old from before Shaman started running any counters or healing. The other versions run little spells and spell damage or my other favorite has a bunch of Stealth minions.

Just 1x and it's the best secret to potentially deal some damage to your opponent when you have no board not named Explosive Trap. You want it just in case your Explosive Trap is already out and you have Phase Stalker

Yes, yes it is. I built it solely to counter Shaman and Rogue, it beat them both more often than not.

It's not actually named on HSReplay yet. Here's the most played one: https://hsreplay.net/decks/Be9cCJM1nIwSMxlaCb9nEg/#gameType=RANKED_STANDARD

Like I said tho, they don't run as much face damage minions or a mech package. It runs more spell damage and secrets, but I think these ideas are bad. I looked up damage cards only and think it kills opponents faster and more effectively.

This version is actually faster and does more damage at the expense of a worse board than the one on HSReplay. I focused more on Mechs and using Magnetic or 1/1 tokens to deal damage early and finish them off through Taunts with Lepers and direct damage.

I actually modified it quite a bit and made changes like you suggested since release. Unfortunately Druid is just in a tough spot and Embiggen hasn't been great.

Sweet article! The art is such a cool process, it's hard to believe they can come up with 135 or more unique pieces of art every 4 months!

Alright, I changed my mind and added it. I just hate that summoning Dragons means that you don't get battlecries. They're big bodies tho so it's too good not to play it.

Spell mana is the ultimate skill test. It allows you to plan many turns in advance for specific combos and provides a comeback mechanic at any point of the game. The discard god curve is pretty nutty, but if you focus on removing key threats and use cards like Deny to stop key skills any game is winnable. My biggest takeaway was that every game felt like it could go either way, regardless of the decks. All the decision-making to get there and play around your opponent felt meaningful and interactive. LoR is a competitive HS player's dream, I doubt its gonna be as big of a hit as the casual crowd. You can't pay for a deck and expect to win.

I don't necessarily think that LoR will overwhelm Hearthstone. But rather, that it will appeal to a specific subset of Hearthstone players. LoR feels a lot like classic Hearthstone, decision-making and interaction were king in it originally. Introducing too many powerful cards has pushed HS to ridiculous levels. Those playing the game for the competitive side and decision-making (like myself) have begun to feel like every game is won or lost on RNG. God curves, lucky draws, created by, etc. Add to that the fact that some matchups are completely unwinnable. It makes it hard to keep grinding HS.

Hearthstone's staying power for me has been the lack of another game which is relatively easy to begin playing and hard to master. LoR felt learnable to a competitive level in the brief period of me playing it, with tons more to do and learn in the future. It's barrier to entry is nonexistent, since there is no paywall. The game is easy to watch and follow on Twitch. It has all the makings of a potential replacement for me.

It is something I have brought this up as a bug in our current ranking system, thanks for the feedback. It's one of the bigger failure decks I have written about and I wish it weren't on the front page so much haha. We'll get it fixed. In the meantime, please upvote other decks because that will boost their visibility on our homepage
