Subject 9 draws between 3 and 5 very specific cards to thin your deck which will help you find your most powerful cards more easily, so of the two I would say it is more important to the Secret Highlander specifically. Zul'jin is your late-game value card, replaying all of your secrets and other spells gives you the last bit of minions + damage to get past a heavy control deck or some small healing against Aggro. But if you play hunter, you will ultimately play Zul'jin in every deck so take that into account when crafting. Both will improve your winrate, but you should be winning without them too.
We're beating a dead horse here. It's a midrange deck, that I think is more Aggro than Control or Combo. You're entitled to your opinion, this is not an end-all be-all guide. Just one dude's opinion on some fun decks.
Glad you liked the article! I concede your point that it may not fit perfectly into Rock-Aggro. But I’m trying to feature meta viable decks within 3 archetypes (midrange being a hybrid of a few for sure) and this one has been dominant. It reminds me of Spiteful Summoner Druid, which I would also say is more aggro than anything else in spite of Ultimate Infestation. There are versions of the deck with Leeroy. There are versions with faster curves and mech combos. The deck wins by hitting the opponent in the face, hence I put it in Aggro.
Combo is a bit of a fine line in terms of how a deck is set up and I decided to use a broader definition. I decided on Mage being combo because once the deck plays it’s key cards it pretty much just wins. There are multiple ways to set up lethal with combinations of cards, but it’s a deck that dies to aggro if it can’t get the combo off.
Archivist Elysianna if you've got it would improve the matchup against warrior. Or any big minion for the most part should be fine. He's not vital to the deck succeeding in most matchups.
I've had a lot of fun with Highlander Hunter too, my deck has a smaller mech package and more spells but they're a blast to play. It can pretty much out-tempo any deck. It seems to play with more decision-making than the typical play-on-curve hunter game-plans I'm used to hating haha.
Ya, agreed, now that the control warrior list has settled the matchup became much much harder. The few games against control warrior I do win make me feel like I just got lucky
Dr. Boom is still the best card in the game I think, making it pretty hard to beat if they get it early. I typically play the deck like a more traditional handlock and go for early Mountain Giant and Sea Giant since they lose value later in the game with Omega Devastator wrecking you. You have to play faster overall since they will win eventually if you can’t kill them. Also make sure to get max potential out of your heals, I always try to magnetize Zilliax. Hope this helps
Those substitutions are fine I think but will certainly decrease the consistency. Voodoo Doll is great because it can be used in so many ways with the lackeys, as a sacrifice for more draw, or lackey creation. Lord Godfrey is not as important as Voodoo Doll in my opinion.
Hellfire for Lord Godfrey is an acceptable swap. He’s great for a huge tempo swing though, especially against aggro. Barista Lynchen is much harder to substitute because she can copy half of your deck. So if you are in an aggro matchup she adds all the lackeys and generators and your healing back to your hand. The flexibility is hard to replace, but a second Omega Agent would help against warrior. After Uldum, Lynchen will be an amazing card in this and the new Shaman battlecry deck that is due to come. I crafted her with that in mind.

One copy of Floop stays as Malygos when it is copied by Elise, it was unintuitive to me at first but that’s how it works.
