Well, there's still that little problem of actually playing and leveling your champions. :-P

I'm sure people will theorycraft decks that revolve exclusively around advancing Sun Disc and playing Azir for the emperor's deck, possibly omitting Nasus and Renekton entirely. I'm not convinced yet that that will be better than meme-tier in practice, however -- it feels like it still just gets run over by Nasus Thresh, TLC, all aggro, Ez Tribeam, Lee Sin...basically any current meta deck, which is not a good place to start. Sun Disc decks problem isn't that the landmark could be removed; it's that you are committed to a control-style gameplan without any of the tools other control decks utilize.

...would encourage people to actually use stuff like Clockwork Curator or Preservationist. They're overkill in this deck; I guess they're just for the Buried Sun Disc...

Lissandra disapproves of you writing off her Frozen Thrall army so soon. :-(

I was actually thinking about writing an article framing TK 'Raka as a Nasus Thresh counter, however I personally haven't been having quite the same success as Raphterra. I'm mostly sure that's due to pilot errors (there are a lot of ways to mess up as the 'Raka player whereas the Nasus player has a pretty straight-forward gameplan), so I wanted to get a few more games under my belt before I wrote anything.

LoR's official twitter included a few sentences which might be significant:

Runeterra is in turmoil! The void threatens invasion and Noxian warships set sail for Ionia’s shores. Change your fate on May 5th in Guardians of the Ancient! More spoiler season content to come!

How is this post-worthy? It's just a random opinion piece. If someone like Kibler or another person who had weight their words said this, I would be shocked.

/shrug. I found it to be an interesting, well-written article that I thought worth reading and sharing with others. I am sorry if you didn't find it so too.

I also agree that it's not as news-worthy as if Kibler/Dog/Firebat/Trump/etc had said it, but if that had been the case I'd probably write up a full-on article and just not a short forum post. And while it is "a random opinion piece", it's also an unsolicited and unprompted endorsement on a pretty major gaming magazine/site which I think carries more weight than just a personal blog/Twitter/YouTube/etc. It actually came up on my Google News feed. :-)

    From https://www.pcgamer.com/legends-of-runeterra-has-quietly-become-the-best-multiplayer-card-game/ :

    Quote From Article

League of Legends spin-off Legends of Runeterra was already a great card game when I first reviewed it last year. It borrows enough from Magic: The Gathering to be familiar, while also innovating with fantastic ideas like mana that can be banked for later turns and powerful Champion cards with unique abilities that also level up as a reward for playing to a specific strategy. But, hoo boy, has it changed a lot in the year since—and all for the better. It's gotten fantastic new game modes, hundreds of new cards with unique abilities, and a progression system that still is ridiculously generous. I just want to shout it from the rooftops: Legends of Runeterra is the best multiplayer card game. Flat out.

As someone who's tried Lissandra out in a few different ways, I'd caution anyone against forming opinions from that one specific deck. It's actually extremely difficult to summon a Watcher without Ice Pillar or Matron shenanigans.

Agreed. It will be nice to clearly see what has spell shield, what has elusive, and what has both.

They definitely are a lot of work, so thanks everyone who reaffirmed that they are appreciated. (*^^*)

On a personal level I totally agree with these sentiments; however I've been trying to write more objective and "journalistic" so I tried to not let my opinions color the article. :-)

I'm still on the search for the best version of Lissandra with Draklorn Inquisitor. I was lucky enough to make the Draklorn prismatic, and Kindly Tavernkeeper as well, so I want a deck with both of them in it (alongside a prismatic Liss, maybe? Need more essence for that...).

I've heard really good things about Wild Rift (the mobile version of LoL). Unfortunately my phone is almost 10 years old so it just vomited when I tried to play it (in general, games that take up >3 GB are not good on a device with a max capacity of 16 GB), but maybe others would enjoy it.

I’m open to creative solutions for this, but if the team doesn’t even have a plan yet then I’m worried that the game is heading toward a bad place in a year or two.

I wouldn't say that they don't have any plan; it's more like they have multiple plans that they are internally assessing and they don't want to say anything publicly until they know which one they're going to use.

For what its worth, there is a major CCG that doesn't use rotation at all: Yu-Gi-Oh TCG. They instead rely on a fairly extensive ban/restriction list to keep things in check. Fans of that game can quickly point out flaws with this implementation, but many of those issues arise from the fact it's a physical game and can't do live balance patches like digital CCGs can.

Also Rengar is from Ixtal not Ionia.

Great catch! I actually re-listened just to confirm that I got it correct, and Dovegedys did say "Rengar" (around 2:10:00).

I'm actually terrible with lore, but I do know Rengar's lore has been retconned a lot. Currently his official home is Kiilash Village, which is technically Ixtal but its right at the border of Shurima and therefore commonly associated with it. On Riot's official LoL pages, Rengar actually currently appears under both "Ixtal Champions" and "Shurima Champions". I don't know much about earlier iterations of his lore, but since  Rengar was released way back in 2012 while both regions were only conceived in recent years, it's possible that Dovagedys is thinking of some obsolete lore that associated him with Ionia. It's also possible this was a Freudian slip, spoiling that Rengar will be "relocated" to Ionia similarly to how Nocturne was relocated to Shadow Isles and that Ixtal won't be a region. Or its possible he just had a brain fart when he was trying to list Ionia champions on-the-spot. :-P

Perhaps you just haven't found other aggro decks you enjoy yet?

I've found a lot of the new Azir decks surprisingly fun!

Sorry! It's around 3:30; I'll look into if there's a clean way to included that in the embedded for future articles.
