Lol I'm still not use to the new acronym -- I saw this threat title and thought it might have something to do with the launch of a new Fitbit-integration feature. :-P

For anyone like me wondering about Gallant Rider: the unit he transforms into is that 5|5 tough that nobody maindecks. It will be interesting to see if he carries damage over through the transformation; a 4-cost 4|4 that occasionally becomes a 5|5 is pretty underwhelming but if he resets his health you're effectively getting like a Grizzled Ranger effect with a few extra hoops in exchange for much better stats.

If you're interested, I made a guide recently for upgrading your starter decks.

    With units, nothing actually changed.

Fair, but you have to consider these are only the immediate results. They could still potentially go edit German & Japanese versions in future patches to pull the text block down, showing more of Aphelios's upper body. There also are probably even more wordy cards they haven't revealed yet that benefit from this change even more.

Where did those pictures of German Aphelios come from? The new one is on a white background, and the old one is on a black background.

I think the background is an artifact of the conversion process -- the card art itself has a transparency layer, which will get automatically filled in with a solid color when saved as JPG. For the article, I actually considered editing out the background in Photopea and resaving it as a PNG, but I figured that was a few minutes extra work for a detail nobody would even notice -- I was wrong! >.<

I could be wrong if the levels are important enough for a deck....but this seems crazy weak and it seems like it would just be better to focus on leveling the characters through whatever means they require rather than play a 7 mana card that basically skips that turn.

I think it depends entirely on the strength the Ascended. E.g., paying 7 mana to instant-level something with say comparable to L2 Aurelion Sol, Maokai, or Zoe would arguably be worth the 7 mana alone, and then you make serious progress towards your Restored Sun Disc and enable things like Devoted Council too. On the other hand, if the Ascended are more like Riven or Zed in power level, then those added benefits from won't be enough to justify the cost of 7 mana.

In Hearthstone i like to play my own decks or off meta decks I see on the internet. With these homebrew or off meta deck i still want to be competive, minimal rank 5/legend each month (on 2 servers). I don't play aggro (but I don't hate paying against it) but mostly more greedy midrange decks. I like to fight for the board. That's why I also like arena. Most important is that I'm never out of cards! I like to have a hand full of cards (draw of discover) so each turn there are many choices to make. I don't like polarizing decks. I want a chance to win in every game. I don't like the huge swing turns Hearthstone have at the moment, like Cheese Paladin. Besides Standard and a bit of arena/wild I don't play any other game modes. I don't like duels that much and i really dislike battlegrounds and solo adventures. I play around 80% of my games on pc and 20% on mobile.

With all this in mind, which CCG would you advise me to play? Runeterra, Magic, Mythgard or any other?

Disclaimer: I am a devoted LoR player and very biased.

That said, I'll always advocate for LoR. They work very hard to make the Champion cards relatively balanced in power level, which makes it very favorable for off-meta and home-brewing. There are big swing turns, but you have to work for them in advance rather than just play powerful cards on curve. There's also much more interaction -- your opponent has the opportunity to disrupt your plays, and good players will actually realize your about to make your big swing and commit their resources to countering you rather than just developing their own board. The game highly rewards playing a good strategy over just owning the best meta deck. Best of all, it's generous with in game crafting resources. My biggest peeve about HS was how much they expected you to spend just to stay competitive, and you needed to stay competitive to get rewards so it was a vicious cycle.

You scared me with your mention of the season ending this Friday. But I just double-checked. Unless I’m misunderstanding something, this extra-long season stretches until March 3rd. This Friday is the cut-off for Seasonal Tournament qualification, so that’s probably what you’re referring to

Yes. Sorry. All my LoR-circle is entirely preoccupied with the seasonal tournament qualification so that's where my head was; sorry. There is still until the morning of March 3rd to earn the icon and the additional prismatic rewards.

For the SEA shard, I assume that is Singapore Standard Time (SST)? Can anyone confirm that?

    Yes -- it is GMT+8.

Hey, thecupismine! Thanks for such a great deck and the kind words. I've incorporated your comments into the original article above.

I'm very curious how you're finding The Grand Plaza in this deck now post-nerf. It's obviously still a very strong card, but that 1 extra HP was often the difference between a dragon surviving to gain a fury proc and just dying. On the other hand, almost every other Round 3 option is just bad -- the "best" alternatives are probably Solari Priestess and Fiora, both of whom feel more like Lose-Slower cards than the stabilizing force you need as you start dropping your first dragons. (Not to mention Fiora contends with A Sol's spot.)

    Welcome back!

I would say there's nothing really stopping you from just jumping back into the fold. Certainly there are new archetypes, but many of the older ones -- Draven + Jinx Discard Aggro, Fiora + Shen, MF Scouts, TF + Swain, Ashe Noxus, etc -- are still prevalent with only minor changes, and most of the other archetypes are still at least viable. In general the decklists from Endol's Gauntlet post are all fairly competitive; if you have specific archetypes and/or champs you like to play, I can provide some more targeted advice.

As for the K/DA cards: there still here, but their playrate has dropped precipitately. I think I've seen 1-2 Go Hard decks on ladder since the patch (disclaimer: I've been playing mostly Lab games lately).

    Good luck!

Definitely include Spacey Sketcher -- not only is she generally good with Zoe, but you have synergy with Stress Testing, Ballistic Bot, and Lunari Duskbringer.

    Hey Morctorcus.

I am both baffled and livid about this. I just don't understand why anyone would ever even do this. While theorycrafting good-looking decks is definitely an art, it's not that hard to throw together a serviceable offering of your own creation. Or alternatively: if someone wants to just curate lists of others' creations, it's trivial to cite the original creators as we often do here. Even the most famous LoR content creators will accredit others when they knowingly use someone else's list -- the "cred" from passing off someone else's innovation as your own just isn't worth lying for. And these guys did this all for a video that is currently sitting at 21 views.

This article has been updated. Also, for what it's worth: we did include your theorycraft work in last month's recognition of OoC community contributions.

EDIT: It occurred to me last night that I didn't literally say the words, so please let me formally apologize for unwittingly mis-accrediting your work.
