This decision was taken many months ago, Even before the 1K avatars were announced. I’m perfectly happy with just unranked, adventure and BG. The last 200-300 games ranked/arena were just to be “finished” with it :
Yea nevermind, I just checked and it is ranked only.
No more card backs for me then I guess. My OCD got me to exactly 1000 wins for each class (1500 with mage). I don't plan on winning any more ranked games... ever.
the only game he seems to be passionate about is making as much money as possible. Which is probably also the motivation behind this move.
Well yes, that was kind of my point. The best way to make money is to limit market competition/diversity. This is hardly ever in the end-users interest.
Twitch is indeed owned by Amazon, so there's no real difference on corporate size behind the streaming service. That aside though, Twitch is still marginal compared to YouTube when it comes to online video streaming - even for live content (although not necessarily for e-sports). If more big players follow suit and move e-sports from Twitch to YT, Twitch will ultimately become another MySpace.
Aside from drops, commercials, etc this is a move that puts the end-user/consumer (=you) at a disadvantage. The games from Blizzard to Activision, the streams from Twitch to Google, the market gets less diverse. Nobody here wins apart from a few fat cats who (1) already have more than your entire bloodline has ever or will ever have and (2) don’t have the first clue about e-sports.
These kind of moves is what prohibits streamers of mentioning Hong Kong (had to come up with a HS relevant example).
Seeing as I’m from Norway: Hunterace winning the World Cup!
looking forward 2020:
More expansions with adventures. These new adventures (and a completely new game mode) keep the game fresh for me. I’m done with ladder (1000+ wins on all and legend card back, don’t know why I should bother the monthly grind)
Secondly: even though it's nice balance adjustments are being made QUICKLY, it feels kind of silly to do it within the first week after release. Was this not tested good enough? (Reminds a bit of the D3 whirlrend nerf earlier this week, 1 month in the new season, after it had been seriously OP on PTR for god knows how long)
Hilarious that the Hunter receives a better Emperor Cobra and it's a Dragon instead of a Beast. I don't play Arena so I can't comment there, but the card seems good regardless.
Though for a hunter, all sidequests play nicely with Zul'jin, since he'll re-cast the quests you've finished, which is nice.
I'm assuming that if Zul'jin recasts spells like Unleash the Beast it counts towards completing the quest? If it does, that's a mixed blessing, since Zul'jin is pretty likely to fill the board with minions, and the quest could finish without summoning anything if the board is full. OTOH, since Zul'jin casts in random order, he might restart the quest late in his cast sequence. If you throw ZJ down and end with a full board and a recast sidequest that's 1/3 or 2/3 filled, that's very nice
Just remember to cancel your subscription if you were just in it for a free legendary!
I was going to be charged tomorrow, but thanks to this post I managed to cancel in time.
Absolutely crushing it with the DH deck. Getting quite a lot of friend requests post game from players taking offense as a... bonus?
Extra challenging on mobile but I got em all :D
No packs no views :)
Wild
Clever. Made me chuckle :)

The article says "Win 5 ranked games, ..."
I thought it was play mode, but not limited to ranked. (5 wins in unranked counts as well). Am I wrong?

Had to double check today's date...

For those of us that almost exclusively play mobile on an iOS device (like myself)...
How soon is now?
Top moment 2019:

Loved the competition. Hated not winning ;)
Congratulations to the winners!
