Will I swap out a Fire Elemental for Nozdormu for three games to get 1500xp? You betcha! I wonder if I will queue into anyone else running Noz. This is a fun way to try to goose a little something different for one day a month.
Do you know where the line is on the ladder for top 1% of players? Just curious whether this is like, more or less top 1k legend, all legend, or some lower point.
Will using a Tradeable card to swap/draw show that card to the opposing player? I assume the answer is yes but I'm not sure I've seen it shown/stated directly.
That was my own experience with the C'thun variant on the Lunacy deck before the nerf. Those spells didn't help me much and just ended up making it harder to pull one of the cards that really made a difference. Maybe this was bad luck also, but it seemed like even the Lunacy-upgraded 8 drops often turned in to dead draws.
I gave in and switched to the VS suggested build last night in hopes they'd get me the final 6-7 wins and that worked out. Now I can start working on a different class. Too bad for me I've already hit 1000 on Warrior, Paladin, and Hunter and those are three of the best ones right now.
Vicious Syndicate's latest meta report is very down on C'Thun in general so I find it interesting that a No Minion Mage with that is rolling so well. I was within 20 wins of the 1000 portrait for mage when the Lunacy nerf hit and I had already made it to Diamond 5 for April so I've been stubbornly sticking with it even after the nerf. It's rough going. The May climb is going to involve a different deck for sure.
Lunacy being nerfed to 4 mana at least keeps absurd highroll scenarios off the table like Lunacy on 2, Arcane Intellect on 3, Spring Water on 4. I think sanding down that edge will make a big difference. And if you pull Lunacy off an early Runed Orb then you can't use it on the next turn.
I find the idea of the Core set to be interesting. I hope that after the details are unveiled about what the specific cards are that it still seems to be an interesting idea.
I had paid no money for Hearthstone since beta where you got a golden Mekkatorque for testing out real money in the shop, but wow, those Three Kingdoms portraits! Uther Guan Yu is amazing.
Alura + Coin + Tip the Scales on 4 has got to be among the most insane combos I've ever run into... or maybe it's just that I've run into it five times this morning when all I want to do is play exactly one more corrupted card so I can finish my weekly?
Rough set of quests for anyone who does not enjoy the variety of modes offered for Hearthstone play! Speaking for myself, I would be happy to never "have" to play another battleground or duel ever again. And if wild or casual is your bag you're left entirely in the cold.
I only started dabbling with MTG: Arena last month and I don't really know how the set rotations work yet. Is anything dropping out of standard with the release of this set? Thanks.
I reached Legend for the first time. I've been #1 rank several times but never got into Legend territory. Anyway, it was with face hunter, not exactly a brag deck and not a deck I normally play -- I just switched to it while I was waiting for payday to buy the mini set.
Hey, congrats! A Face Hunter deck got me my first legend last summer. I had kind of the same feeling as you did about "not exactly a brag deck," but you know what, you still had to make a lot of good decisions on what to mulligan for and when to play specific cards to plow through the "real" decks in the hands of the high diamond/low legend players you probably faced on the way to legend, so be proud.
I hit legend for the second time last night. It feels pretty good! Now I know for sure that the first time I did it last summer wasn't a fluke. I got "Play 12 Dragons" as my daily quest yesterday and my only deck right now with multiple dragons is the Highlander Paladin list that has Amber Watcher and Dragonqueen Alexstrasza, so I sat down last night and said, "I'll just play until I complete this quest." A handful of games later, the quest was complete, I still hadn't lost, had gone from D5 to D3. I changed that to, "I'll just play until I lose." And I didn't lose until I had two stars in Diamond 1. Took a break, came back later with the same attitude and won three in a row. Nice.
With the exception that I don't actually have N'Zoth and didn't want to commit the dust for him, so I just threw in an Acidic Swamp Ooze that I don't think I actually used to destroy a weapon more than once or twice on the climb. I was not expecting a deck with no Races cards to ascend, but maybe playing a good pre-Races deck worked out while people are experimenting with the new stuff. I don't know the rest of the thoughts, sometimes I feel that I'm not alone with that. I just did my first steps with other f2p card games but the progression and the feel of obtaining good card is way better than HS. I played HS since the beginning but right now I don't feel comfortable paying for more packs but didn't being able to construct a decent deck for the classes I love most to play with.
I just wanted to piggyback onto this to say that I dabbled with a different card game recently also, deciding I'd give MTG Arena a try when I was more frustrated with the early state of the battle pass. It totally blew me away with how easy it was to jump into that game, with the starter quest sequence resulting in a new player having one deck for each color as well as one deck for each combination of colors. And the decks are like... not horrible? I started playing some ranked matches just to see how it would go, expecting mostly to lose every game, and the pre-made red/green deck with no changes made by me has gotten me to the platinum tier. It's amazing.
I would rather play Hearthstone, all things considered, but seeing another game's new player experience really opened my eyes.
I ran into that Aggro Shaman list yesterday. Doomhammer + Stormstrike + Rockbiter Weapon is a lot of damage! I lived through two turns of that and thought I had scraped by enough to survive one more and then he dropped Inara on me. Just crazy.
Bomb Warrior got me up to D3 last week but it feels like the meta shifted to counter it more over the weekend. I'm at 991 wins for my 1000 portrait. Don't think I'm quite going to get there before the miniset!
On one hand, it's annoying to "have" to drop 2000g out of my "packs for next expansion" fund on this. On the other hand, the full mini-set for 2000g is so good to get over being annoyed about it. Certainly wouldn't end up with that kind of value out of 20 packs of the next expansion. And the packs I've banked for Darkmoon that I was holding onto to open when the mini-set released can just get opened and either fill out my collection or add to the dust pile. Not bad.
