I have no desire to collect these IRL but I am curious, how are these printed on actual cards? Are they literally printed on both sides? They aren't calling them split cards, which is how I assumed they would have been if they didn't keep making a big deal out of the dual-face thing.
TY! Thought so but these are the sort of rules arguments I remember getting into my friends about as we downloaded the DCI handbook and argued for hours over a single turn. Honestly the digital format makes me happy to just avoid that sort of thing altogether.
White looks like it's starting to get scary control tactics, Angel of Destiny and Archon are great cards. Destiny is an easy enough win condition to achieve. Just need to focus life gain, control (thank you Archon), and protecting the Archon for one turn. Doesn't even need to connect face to win the game.
Rules lawyer question if anyone knows the answer. Lets say you attack with the Angel of Destiny and it's killed. If you cast another one from your hand and have the needed life did the other player lose the game?
Fun way to crack out 5-15 minutes in Arena, depending on luck. Every deck had a way to 'cheat' out the win. Each had a way to counter the other deck. End result is quick games but luck of the draw.
I like that blue/black Legend, return of Ninjitsu sans the keyword! Since there are a lot of mill mechanics with rogues it seems like he'll shine nicely. Blue/black was always my favorite color combo. I'm looking forward to experimenting with a lot of different types of decks in that color combo alone.
Confounding Conundrum is solid anti-ramp tech. Probably going to be a sideboard staple for the next few years. New fire dog is a solid one drop for dog decks which are pretty fun.
Yeah. Normally you don't play something you aren't a fan of playing. Burgers only really sell to people who like eating burgers. Meta variety in MtG seems much larger and has the sideboard game for extra depth. There are also a lot more styles of play and ways to win in MtG. LoR is fine, but I don't like it as much as MtG. As a bonus also, I stopped playing HS because of the Hong Kong controversy and I don't like sinking my cash into Chinese companies and companies that bend the knee to China's harsh censorship rules.
Bloodchief's Thirst is sexy, sexy targeted removal. I can see it being a 4-of for many decks, mono-black and multi colored. Aquisition's expert is also sexy disruption, better in every way than Burglar Rat except for the fact that it's not a rat. I like rats...
The 'Full Party' mechanic seems like it's got that sweet, tasty flavor. We'll see how it functions in terms of power.
*Tajuru Paragon just premiered. Now it seems super cheap to pull off as long as you run green. Turn 2 or 3 allows for a paragon drop followed by a one mana 'party spell' like Coveted Prize.... Am I misunderstanding this card? Can one card be your full party or does the Tajuru just fill in gaps?*

The mastery pass info has given more info on the expansion theme than the vague announcement video. Elementals, glad the Risen Reef is cycling out. Probably some new fun shenanigans in Wild with that and the new card though.
Secret Lair stuff is interesting for the physical card game, but I don't see why they don't make some of this available in the digital format for gems or gold. I know it's far too tied together but if they allowed Arena to be it's own product I think it would do better.
For instance they way bans/suspensions of cards work in real life is a given because you can't alter everyone's cards with new text, but in digital the tech is there to nerf cards. Many of the banned list could be brought back with some tweaking.
Does Arena have a restricted list? Reclamation decks are horrible to play against but I feel like it could function as a 'one of' card instead of a build around.
