I almost quit my brawl during the final match because I thought it had gotten stuck in an infinite loop. I used Stone Fox Statue to play 5 Lei Flamepaw and then played Orb of the Untold. After the opponent died, and I got the dialogue from Reno, the game proceeded to continue pinging the dead opponent with Orb hits, slowly, one at time. It went on for a at least 3-4 minutes, and I was about to quit out of the app, when it finally stopped and moved on. I wish I had a video.
Frankly, I'm a little shocked they nerfed AFK, Patchwerk and Rat King but left Brann untouched. He's better than those other three, and in the top 4 in just about every match I play.
I suggested in another thread taking amalgams out of the minion pool and instead offering them as rewards for triples, tavern level-ups, or something else. Being offered an early amalgam is by far the biggest determining factor in where I finish each game, which seems silly.
Battlegrounds is really not well designed for mobile. I've been playing on my commute and found that often times a weak connection will result in a 5-10 second period where none of the actions work (can't buy, re-roll, freeze, rearrange, etc.). It often causes me to miss opportunities. Also, unlike normal mode where I can almost always recover from a minor disconnect, and even get back into the game without missing a full turn, one disconnect in Battlegrounds almost always causes me to miss a tavern session, and sometimes two. And missing even one is usually devastating. It does not help the there seems to be issues with the reconnect protocol and often have to restart the app 2-3 times to get back in.
Been playing this with much success. Agreed on what others here have said. You need to wait to do anything (other than absolutely necessary removal and hand thinning to avoid overdraw) until you have discounts + Flamewaker. Most of my wins come with nearly all the damage on 1-2 turns. Most of the games I lost were because I just could not draw Flamewaker or Sorcerer's Apprentice. I think the winrate on HSreplay will go up once bad players stop playing the deck.
I think you missed that warlock (already the worst class standard) is getting an unplayable joke-meme card as one of its two.
Worked great. Thanks!
My opponent made all three wishes. I got just the first one. I still won. :)
Honestly, I think Mage is in a bad spot right now after the nerfs. It's less a problem with your deck specifically, as it is with the ceiling for Mage (or at least Highlander Mage) being too low compared to the rest of the meta.
I had more success with the standard version with Mountain Giant and Conjurer's Calling, because the giant becomes an early threat that requires the opponent to deal with immediately at the expense of their game plan, and can lead to snowball wins. The standard deck also has Archmage Antonidas and cheap freeze spells as an additional win condition. I felt your deck was a little too reliant on Pharos as a win condition. I've tried Pyroblast as win condition in a few decks (made a freeze mage with Naga and 2x Pyroblast that was fun, but not very good).
If you want to keep the dragons, I would suggest maybe cutting the Pyroblast and Naga, and adding in Mountain Giant and Conjurer's Calling. Conjurer's Calling also pairs well with Crowd Roaster (if you can get it to stick, harder now after the nerf). I had a dragon mage right after Conjurer's Calling came out that won a lot of games with that combo.
I gave this deck a go at rank 4-5, and went about 9-11 in 20 games. A lot of games where I drew nothing but big minions, and had nothing to stop aggro. I had much more success with the standard highlander Mage, but this was fun at least. Appreciate the deck and guide.
Any time I play Zephrys the Great. The card is a bit of a misnomer... IT is the perfect card!
Honestly, a brawl where your deck is 30 Zephrys (highlander restriction removed of course) would be AMAZING. It would be like chess. Every game would start roughly the same, but as the turns went on, it would diverge more and more. Both players would be on completely even footing and every choice---from when to play Zephrys vs playing a perfect card to setting up board states to tease certain cards from Zephrys---would be huge. It would be the highest skill version of Hearthstone ever because Zephrys is highly manipulable compared to typical discover.
But... I suspect blizzard is lame and lazy, so it will probably be starting with a few hand. Yawn.
I think now might be the time to DE my lucky golden Dr. Boom!
The ultimate Hearthstone RNG
Might have to bring this back for a wild Yogg-Puzzle box deck and see if anyone notices
This card back makes me thirty
My favorite card back for sure. I miss C'thun
Anyone else still using this? I hope I make some newbies happy when the play me and get this.
This deck has been killing it for me:
