Tombs of Terror is back with another chapter unlock today! We'll be entering Khartut's Tomb with Elise Starseeker at our sides, the Druid and Priest representative.
Adventure unlocks at 1 PM Eastern (10 AM Pacific, 7 PM CEST). Check out Blizzard's Preview of Chapter 3 here.
This Week's Boss - Xatma, Plague Lord of Death
Xatma is all about death! The first phase of the fight sees interactions with Deathrattle through Foreboding Fate which means we should be prepared for a pretty heavy Deathrattle-themed deck. Once Xatma makes it to phase 2, we'll see Reborn come into play thanks to Death's Embrace which is going to double up on his Deahthrattle value once again. Finally, in phase 3, Death's Gaze is here to kick us down hard, generating Untimely Demise which will really hurt us.
We may want to focus on higher health minions, those with deathrattle to also gain value out of his second phase hero power, or plenty of heals.
Phase two and three followed by that AoE token!
This Week's Twist - Plague of Death
Chapter 3 uses Twist - Plague of Death which puts an Eternal Tomb on your side of the field.
As friendly Minions die, the tomb will gradually unlock to unleash a powerful Deathrattle minion. The tomb will then close again while another minion waits to emerge!
Our Hero, Elise Starseeker
Elise is a Druid and Priest which gives her access to flavor of those classes. Don't forget, you can play with wing with any of the currently unlocked heroes.
This is the upgraded Navigator when you defeat all 4 chapters.

So close to having enough gold to buy this chapter
The first phase of this plaguelord can easily go horribly wrong the first few turns, second phase is more annoying than difficult and the third phase was rather easy.
My first attempt I got absolutely wrecked though, had octosari spawn from my tomb and a bunch of bloods from hakkar in my deck, needless to say I ended up dead from drawing continuous bloods the next turn.
Is it just me or this is the least good adventure in the whole game? Having to repeat the whole run just to continue fighting the final boss is abysmal. Also, the twists in each chapter are just horrible and plain annoying.
I have to agree on the sentiment of final boss grind, especially when you don't get good treasures. I like that they're trying different things but it's definitely not my favourite so far. Don't feel as strongly about the twists yet, although this third chapter twist has kinda kept screwing me over.
Made it to the Plague Lord with Finley, and FML, he got Rhonin out of the first tomb, then added 3 copies with Shadow of Death, then kept spamming his HP and burned me down like hell to like 6HP left, then the Truesilver Lance appeared!
Right after that he played 7 Arcane Missiles...
Easily the least enjoyable chapter so far IMO. The deathrattle minions that come from the twist often enough have been severely impacting the run, like continuously spawning lucentbarks that slowly clogged up my board or octosaris to burn half my deck. The plaguelord in particular is very annoying and RNG-based. If he gets any strong deathrattle onto the board early, there usually isn't much of a chance to turn the game around. I got extremly lucky in my third run only and the last fight took me over an hour to finish, even though he started with less than 200HP at that point.
I glad I bought them, I am having fun...frustrating fun!
Such a bs boss. 2 runs and I’ve knocked off about 60 hp in normal mode. I mean he only played about 12 f’ng Sylvanasii with free procs. What fun
Sylvanas is definitely brutal in his deck, I got like 15 health off when he drew it and bit under 80 when he didn't. And I don't even want to think about Heroic yet...
Ok, having played a few times now I can see how the saved health mechanic will allow more people to finish the adventure (especially on heroic) there just seems to be some very dull rounds when I have to chip off 0-100 health. Generally there’s no difficulty on the last boss.
It was interesting to try but having to do an entire run to knock off 30 health is very unrewarding.
I didn't think I was going to end up buying the adventure because it is bad value for your gold, but this looks like too much fun!
Downed this plague lord in 1 run how you might ask?
Eternal Tomb turned to Rin the First Disciple
By the 3rd Sigil I had Vargoth out who added a copy to my hand.
Destroyed his deck with him still at 299
Got him to the threshold and his deck & hand refilled
He summoned Hakarr , I destroyed his deck again and then killed Hakarr which had reborn. Killed him again.
Then continued to the next threshold
He burnt himself with Fatigue and Bloods.
If I can post screenshots later I will. I literally thought I was gonna lose because he overwhelmed me early on.
Stoked! I am loving this adventure more than I thought so far.
Does anyone know exactly how the Sr. versions of the hero treasures get unlocked? Is it "complete chapters 1-4" or "complete chapters 1-4 with this hero" ?
I'd kidded myself it was just beat 4 plague lords - I unlocked Reno's Gatling Wand by beating 3, but was pretty disappointed when beating the 4th didn't unlock the Sr. card.
The way I read that is that you have to clear EACH of the fist 4 chapters with a hero to level them up - so impossible to do right now since the 4th chapter isn't live yet. So next week you can do it and then have the leveled-up version for the final chapter the week after.
If I understood right, for a Junior to become a senior, you have to take them on a successful expedition.
Say I use Finley's Jr. Scout to clear the 1st act, I think upon completion of said act, Jr. would level up.
It'll only works when all 4 chapters are available, like Asprobourboulis pointed out .. mea culpa.
Fact > Assumption
I had a Jr. in a successful run, but she didn't upgrade.
+1 for factual confirmation
I just noticed the cat in the Elise's might hero power is still wearing her glasses thats a neat detail
is there more treasures that get upgraded by defeating the 4 chapters?
Nevermind! just found them!
