I...might still only be like halfway done with the game on PS5 lol :/ I don't know how you can get bored at a God of War game, but I was.

Ooh, that's cool! Didn't make it into the Alpha test, but maybe I'll take another stab at getting into the Beta haha

You stuck to your guns, and that's respectable :)

I find I have a bunch more time to do what I want, now that I'm not beholden to continue the grind. There are days where I'm not sure how exactly I want to *fill* that time, which is normally where Snap or HS could squeeze in, but I've also held up my end and stayed away. Don't even have Battle.net on my computer anymore.

In the mean time, I played a bunch of demos during Steam's Endless Replayability Fest last week, bought two Early Access games for $22 total to support the creators, and bought Hades II for $30. I finished what I could of that, more or less, and it's already an amazing experience. In a couple days I'll pick up the Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door remake, and all of it will have cost me less than Snap and HS!

After playing a bunch of demos to create an article about the Endless Replayability Fest on Steam, I ended up buying two of them:

    1. Never Mourn, an action roguelike where you play a necromancer, with twin hotbars for damage/crowd control and healing/resurrecting minions.
    2. Shogun Showdown, a turn-based roguelike where you have to time your actions with the enemy to kill them while minimizing damage to yourself.

They were the most fun, for me anyway, and while they are both Early Access I feel supporting them for $12 and $10 respectively is totally worth it.

About two weeks ago I complained above that I've done nothing gaming-wise, but since then a shit-ton of stuff has happened lol. It has solidified my decision to leave behind Marvel Snap and Hearthstone, because I would not have done nearly as much exploring demos or playing other games if I had to keep going back to them with my time and money.

...and we're only half-way through the month: I still see Paper Mario TTYD on the horizon, next Thursday!

If it helps, I purchased Never Mourn and Shogun Showdown today 😀 $24 total ($12 for NM, $10 for SS, plus tax) for two games with high potential, that I already found to be really fun, seems worth it to me! I'll aid them in their endeavors to deliver me a great product, whilst supporting small business at the same time hehe

Trying not to let any undue hype set me up for failure, but 2K may announce Borderlands 4 at Summer Game Fest, and that would be most exciting :) They teased something big, so that's my hope.

Perhaps not, but you can honor the King by instantly completing Bazaar Burglary with Twisted Pack. So...worth?

I did not expect it to be more difficult than Breath of the Wild, but it was. I actually appreciate that - Ganondorf was an actual challenge, versus say Twilight Princess where he could be outsmarted with a fishing pole. It made the final confrontation more epic and nerve-wracking, with this feeling of "oh wow, he could definitely fuck up my shit if I slip." Putting the final boss behind a gauntlet of traversal and battles was a nice touch, as well: you had to prove you deserve to fight him, before he inevitably drove you into the ground :D

I say "top 3 of Zelda titles" is a hard ask when you've got Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, and any-other favorites in the running! lol. Too many good choices.

My Grandma owns the game, too, and while she got off the sky island, she's been struggling ever since. She's not good at building things, and she gets frustrated with the shitty weaponry because she doesn't think to attach stuff to improve them. She loved Breath of the Wild, played through it twice (with only a little help from me), but that has not been the case with Tears of the Kingdom. She's currently dealing with trigger-finger problems, as well, so that sucks.

Better hope the other card you plan to play can impact the board, 'cause this Legendary seems practically useless. The Gigantic in particular, unless you're planning to combo it with Hodir, Father of Giants in some capacity.

To elaborate on my review, having put even more time into the game, I have some additional notes:

    • The game in its current state is challenging - the Boons might be on the weaker side, plus we're all used to Zagreus' playstyle, so it's something to consider.
      • I must stress that Melinoe is *not* Zagreus: she wants to magically attack from range quite a bit, or use hit-and-run tactics. This is expressed in her weapons, her Magic meter, and her Sprint feature. You can't just brawl your way through enemies while dashing past attacks like before.
      • Amusingly, while I crushed it early on with an OP combo of Boons, I was rather quickly put on the back-foot in subsequent runs and have since struggled to get ahead again. I accept this rubber-banding as a byproduct of lacking experience with the new stuff, and the tempermental state of the game's balance.
    • The meter to Call gods and use their special abilities appears to be gone, which I'm totally fine with.
    • I just finished dealing with a crash on the Steam Deck, so I'll concede it's not 100% perfectly stable.
    • Having to choose between gathering-tools is kind of annoying. If I take the pickaxe, but run into a sequence of opportunities to fish, I feel like I messed up.

Game's still amazing; just adding some nuance to my gushing about it above lol :)

If you Buy One, Get One Freeze an enemy minion with Rush, yours will thaw before theirs, assuming it lives.

It functions like the Nathria cards where your opponent guesses what you picked: it waits for their turn to happen before they make a decision. See: Suspicious Alchemist. This ultimately means the cards you draw will always have to wait a turn if you're the one who played Pro Gamer - because the effect did not resolve on your turn - while the cards your opponent draws will be immediately available to them.

Rock-Paper-Scissors? I wonder how well that translates everywhere...I know people here in the US who don't call it that, and others who didn't know what it was when I referenced it lol

Kinda! You still have to watch for which box you're replying with. I don't know the intricacies of the forums; it's a mysterious system lol

It's currently 66% off on Steam! You should totally get it if you haven't already 😁

I have an Android phone and use Chrome; haven't had an issue myself. What happens when you attempt to reply? Does it kick you down to the bottom of the page? That's a known issue - you have to scroll back up to where you were attempting to reply, and the text box will be there.

Kinda annoying, I won't lie, but it's on the to-do list to fix. Overhauling the forums and message system was always going to come with issues and annoyances; we just need to iron them out!

    "Ehehe, huhu, hehe, haha!"

I completely read that in the voice of Heath Ledger's Joker.

*Flips table in excitement* So much for Fallout 4, or anything else! Hades II has arrived, so...yeah. Installing!

I and others have been burned by Early Access in the past, but Hades was definitely not one of those times. Looking forward to it!
