Ban Haleh from Twist

Submitted 9 months, 3 weeks ago by

Opinion: Haleh, Matron Protectorate should get banned from the Twist format. She is the ONLY dragon available for Drakefire Amulet to discover, and with all the mana cheating (Incanter's Flow, Hot Streak, etc) and survivability (Solid Alibi) mages have, this is a ridiculously consistent win condition.

It's a problematic solution, since then Drakefire Amulet does nothing. I don't know what else to suggest.

    Just ban the Amulet itself.

    That's actually a better answer.

Agreed, ban either Haleh, Matron Protectorate, Drakefire Amulet or Solid Alibi. Preferably the latter, because it is basically Ice Block 2.0 and nobody likes to face it a gazillion times per game.

And while we are at it, ban one of the key cards of the aggrevating Nazmani Priest deck as well. Or even better yet, add the rule that no cards can be reduced to 0-mana cost. Only cards with cost X less should have that ability.

Seems like a decent distinction between the two behaviors to me. I just do not understand Team 5's obsession with this totally broken mechanic. Unbelievable 😤

I was actually laughing when I saw the meta decks for twist yesterday and found much to my amusement that Drakefire Amulet guarantees haleh because there's no neutral minions.

Not sure if team5 would make further bans or changes, more likely they'll just change the rules. They cant very well allow us full dust refunds every 2 weeks just because twist is slowly becoming a toxic waste dump filled with combo decks similar to low MMR wild.

Edit: Oh, and I might as well comment on Solid Alibi. Yes that card definitely needs some sort of change. Hoping that it'll prevent damage up to a certain max, because whenever mage has a combo deck this card will invariably irritate everyone around it.

Playing Haleh on curve isn't the problem. Summoning two of her with a discounted fire spell is an issue for sure.

Personally, I don't see Team 5 changing Solid Alibi in any format. Mage had Ice Block starting in beta. That's part of what Mage does: trick the opponent into thinking they had lethal.

It'll be interesting to see the approach to Twist. Do they bother with bans and nerfs, or just move on to the next batch of rules?

They already banned a few cards in latest patch to limit power of Questline Druid decks, and to "slow down" the Amulet Mage decks.  But in my opinion, banning Refreshing Spring Water for Mage was more of a blow to other decks that might have wanted to use it (like Questline Mage), as the Amulet OTK decks still have plenty of draw.  They needed to just ban Amulet as it can only discover Haleh, making the card way too consistent at pulling 16 mana worth of minions for only 6-7 mana on average.  But whatever!  Rules will change soon enough and the deck will disappear.

Quick!  Someone give me something clever to write here.
