Wizards has released a statement concerning the name of an upcoming card from Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, Spacegodzilla, Death Corona. The name is changing.
- The card was unable to be changed before the first printing of the set.
- Magic Arena will have the new name, Spacegodzilla, Void Invader instead.
You can see the old and new version of the card below. This card is one of the alternate art "Godzilla Series" prints, taking over Void Beckoner.
Quote From Wizards Months ago, when Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths was finalized, the world was a very different place. As we all adjust to a world altered by the spread of COVID-19, the word "corona" has taken on a new meaning.
In context, the card we're about to show you made sense when it was originally conceived—"the Corona Beam" is Spacegodzilla's traditional breath weapon. However, we were unable to change our printing in time to address the new meaning of corona. The initial printing of Ikoria will arrive on shelves soon and this card will be part of the set, but we are taking steps to remove or change the card where possible.
First, all reprints of Ikoria will remove this card. Second, we'll be renaming the card on Magic: The Gathering Arena to Spacegodzilla, Void Invader. Finally, Magic Online, which will be offering the special Godzilla Series Monster versions of cards only in Treasure Chests, will not distribute this card.
Note that this is a special version of the card Void Beckoner, which will not be affected by any changes.

Ok, that's great and all but I find the name "Spacegodzilla" way too hilarious.
Black Lotus step aside this card with its original printing is gonna be most valuable card in MtG.
Of course not. The main reason why Black Lotus is the most valuable cards is because it's also the best card and can fit in any deck. Also it's more than 25 years old.

I have been away from magic for some time now... What is doing Godzilla there?
The new set is all about giant monsters that mutate and do cool stuff and so WotC is doing a special promo thing where special packs can have a Kaiju art. Some of the art is really cool and as someone who loves Godzilla and almost everything he stands for, I love it to death. I'd recommend checking out some of the art, its all really nice and if you aren't familiar with all 300 trillion different Kaijus, you might get a laugh at how dumb some of them are.
If it does get changed after the second printing, it will make the first printing even more valuable.
Had a Black Lotus when i was young (sold it with my other cards). 2 Years ago a friend of mine went nuts when i told him that i got like 200DM for the whole box(German currency before Euro - 100€ today). He then showed me todays price of the card and it was almost 100 times the price.
I would have never thought how much money people are willing to spend on a single card.
Should have kept it, but i was a little boy and the internet wasnt a thing back than. :/
