What is Mega-Windfury in Hearthstone?

Hearthstone has many card effects that are common enough that they get their own keyword - a word or two that immediately tells you how the card works. Let's take a look at the Mega-Windfury keyword.

Can attack four times each turn.

Mega-Windfury is a very obscure keyword in the game, with only 3 total cards in the game that use it. As the name of keyword suggests, it's an upgraded version of Windfury, which normally allows something to attack twice per turn. Mega-Windfury specifically allows the character in question with the ability to attack 4 times per turn.

Keywords that Work Great with Mega-Windfury

As with regular Windfury, Mega-Windfury minions benefit greatly from Rush, allowing them to attack and use their extra attacks right away, as well as Divine Shield to soak up damage from one of their attacks, and Lifesteal to heal off of each damage it deals.

Playing Against Mega-Windfury in Hearthstone

You will almost never need to play against Mega-Windfury, as the cards that use the ability are extremely rare and also typically don't see play.

If you do however, find yourself in a situation where you need to play against Mega-Windfury, it's usually quite easy to do so. Playing Against Mimiron's Head is usually easy as it's easy to tell if your opponent is trying to swarm Mechs to summon V-07-TR-0N (or, "Voltron"). A Rogue may swarm Mechs and then use Conceal to protect them from being targeted. If this happens, a large AoE such as Flamestrike will typically get the job done. If you find yourself unable to kill enough Mechs to prevent Voltron from summoning Voltron, be sure to keep your total Health + Armor above at least 16.

Whirlwind Tempest is easy to play around as Windfury minions are usually small for their Cost, and therefore easier to kill before they can use their abilities. Whirlwind Tempest will also require your opponent to have at least one Windfury minion survive for a turn to have an immediate impact on the board, or it's otherwise just an 8 mana 6/6.

Example Hearthstone Mega-Windfury Cards

There are only 2 ways in Ranked mode to obtain a Mega-Windfury minion.

Mimiron's Head is quite a notable flashy card as its ability will summon V-07-TR-0N, the first card in the game to use the ability, and one that will often close the game as soon as it's summoned.

Whirlwind Tempest is the only collectible card in the game to use the keyword (although it doesn't have the mechanic itself), by giving your Windfury minions (whether or not the Windfury is natural) Mega-Windfury.
