Alternate Heroes are cosmetics designed to replace the default Hero portrait of the class. These alternate skins do not affect the gameplay, but merely add visual diversity to the game. All of them, apart from the 1000-win alternate portrait of the default hero, come with a unique set of emotes, and plenty of them also have their own thematic card backs. In this guide, we'll explain how to obtain Mage's alternate Heroes which can be used to replace the default Hero, Jaina Proudmoore.

How to Obtain Arcane Sentinel Jaina in Hearthstone

Arcane Sentinel Jaina is another alternate version of the default hero, Jaina Proudmoore.

The skin was obtainable as a part of The Chrome Crusaders Bundle or as a standalone skin. The bundle was purchasable for $29.99 USD and the single skin for $6.99 USD from November 16th, 2021 until December 6th.

The Chrome Crusaders bundle also included a special card back that could also be obtained by buying the Steel Guardian Malfurion Hero Set.

How to Obtain Arcanist Jaina in Hearthstone

Arcanist Jaina is another alternate version of the default hero, Jaina Proudmoore.

The skin can be picked as a reward from 10 options unlocked by reaching level 50 of Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Reward Track or level 100 of the subsequent expansions' Reward Tracks.

Fire Mage Jaina is the alternate version of the default hero, Jaina Proudmoore. Lore-wise, she's an Archmage and a former leader of the Kirin Tor, now serving as the Lord Admiral of Kul Tiras.

The skin can be obtained by reaching 1000 wins with Mage in Ranked or Arena game modes. The skin was first introduced in the Doom in the Tomb patch on October 8th, 2019.

Contrary to most alternate Heroes, Fire Mage Jaina does not have a unique set of emotes.

How to Obtain Frost Fairy Jaina in Hearthstone

Frost Fairy Jaina is another alternate version of the default hero Jaina Proudmoore.

The skin was obtainable as a part of the Winter Veil Chill Bundle. The bundle was purchasable for $24.99 from December 21st, 2021 for a limited time.

How to Obtain Jaina Proudmurgle in Hearthstone

Jaina Proudmurgle is a Murloc version of the default hero, Jaina Proudmoore.

The skin was obtainable as a part of the Jaina Proudmurgle Bundle. The bundle was purchasable for $9.99 from May 10th, 2022 until May 24th, and it included 5 Mage packs.

How to Obtain Kel'Thuzad in Hearthstone

Kel'Thuzad was a powerful archmage before his necromantic studies led him down to a dark path that eventually turned him into a lich.

The skin could be obtained as a part of Scholomance Academy Mega Bundle pre-order. This bundle was purchasable for $79.99 USD from July 14th, 2020 until the expansion launch on August 6th, and included 80 Scholomance Academy packs, 5 golden Scholomance Academy packs, a Tavern Pass, and a random Golden Legendary from the expansion.

As part of the bundle, a special card back was obtainable as well. However, the card back was also obtainable with the $49.99 pre-order which did not include the Hero skin.

How to Obtain Khadgar in Hearthstone

Khadgar is an Archmage and the current leader of the Kirin Tor. He was an apprentice of the Guardian Medivh.

The skin was originally a standalone item in part of an "Apps for Earth" promotion, from which all proceeds were donated to World Wildlife Fund. The skin could be purchased for $4.99 only by using an iOS device, and stayed in the shop from April 14th, 2016 until April 24th.

The skin returned shortly to the in-game shop on February 17th, 2020 and was purchasable for $9.99 USD until March 4th, 2020.

A special card back was added alongside the hero during the latter period, and was also awarded to everyone who had purchased Khadgar previously.

The skin and card back returned to the shop for the second time on May 11th, 2021 and could be purchased for 1500 gold or $9.99 until May 25th. The skin and card back became available for purchase again on June 3rd, 2021 and can be bought for 1800 gold.

How to Obtain Lady Katrana Prestor in Hearthstone

Lady Katrana Prestor is the human disguise of Onyxia through which she manipulated events in Stormwind.

The skin could be obtained as a part of United in Stormwind Mega Bundle pre-order. This bundle was purchasable for $79.99 USD from July 1st, 2021 until the expansion launch, and includes 80 United in Stormwind packs, 5 golden United in Stormwind packs, two random Golden Legendaries from the expansion, Battlegrounds perks, and Ve'nari skin as an alternate Battlegrounds bartender.

As part of the bundle, a special card back was obtainable as well. However, the card back was also obtainable with the $49.99 pre-order which does not include the Hero skin.

How to Obtain Medivh in Hearthstone

Medivh was the last Guardian of Tirisfal, a powerful mage tasked with guarding the world of Azeroth.

The skin could be purchased as a standalone item from the in-game shop for $9.99 USD from when it was first introduced on June 15th, 2015 until the skin rotated out of the shop on December 10th, 2019. The skin was also obtainable as a bonus alongside select physical copies of the Warcraft movie.

The skin came with a special card back.

The skin and card back returned to the shop on April 6th, 2021 and could be purchased for 1500 gold or $9.99 until April 12th. The skin and card back became available for purchase again on June 3rd, 2021 and can be bought for 1800 gold.

Navigator Khadgar is an alternate version of the Mage hero Khadgar, inspired by the Voyage to the Sunken City expansion.
