Yes, those are balanced as you said. With Lynessa you're only one removal of losing the game. And although Tess can be bonkers sometimes, since it's purely RNG, it can suck consistently also lol.

Shudderwock and Zuljin are toxic IMO, because most of the time you throw them, most of the times you win. But at least they have some limitations, since you can't use targetable effects, otherwise they'll mess your pool, so at least it has a deck restriction which in some scenarios can be big. Jace is stupid, it's a perfect card. Good stats for what it does, insane effect, no deck restriction. Jace is even more broken than the other 2. DH already has lots of cards that go only to the enemy. Making it so that Predation or any other targetable spell will go face or clear some minions is stupid...

Personally I think that cards like Jace or Shudderrwock are toxic and bad for the game. They tend to push forward archetypes of "just play a bunch of stuff and drop the big boy".

You'll get crushed outside of gold with that deck.

I kinda disagree with the shadow cards pool being narrow. Drown is the single-target removal that was needed for a control shadow priest to rise.

I agree with these changes but I think that we would need an adjustment to Paladin also. Mech Paladin and Handbuff Paladin is highly efficient (stats from hsreplay Legend >1000) but get his ass kicked by DH. Removing that deck from the scene would mean that Paladin will become the king of the meta. It crushes every other deck in the meta (maybe excepting Boar priest, which is almost a 50% match)

Missed the mark with that one. Seems clunky. But it may be due to RNG pool. Does warrior still has some way of generating weapons in standard other than War Cache?

Anyways, it's bad, but I don't think it's that much of an issue. Warrior has lots of stuff. Mage case is different. Only one archetype received support. That's bad from a design perspective. Most of the other classes received support for many archetypes. Do the exercise and review all cards and you'll notice that they gave support for 2 or 3 archetypes on each class.

Warrior had support for Quest previously. Now they added support for Control as well. Mage only has Big Spell Mage. That's it. They gave support somewhat to Hero Power... But with only 1 bad card. That's not support. Mage needed some extra tools for Mech and Naga mage. Don't think it's viable as it's right now.

Congrats guys! You're the first ones to put this given that Blizz had most of the day the site off.

Now talking about core set, in general I really like the changes done overall. But they missed the mark again with Mage cards. Although some are a pretty much BIG success, there are some that are there with not that much of a purpose. If I were on charge, I'd done the following:

    • Snap Freeze -> Ray of Frost: WAY more useful in most of the scenarios. Snap Freeze is just a bad card.
    • Shooting Star -> Magic Trick: More useful for giving support to nagas or in general as a card. Shooting Star without good spell damage and Firebrand is useless.
    • Ethereal Conjurer -> Goblin Blastmage: It's just a very bad card. The only use it had was when an RNG Font of Power gave you REALLY bad cards. Goblin Blastmage is an OK card and very good support to mech mage.
    • Pyromaniac -> Snowchugger: Very slow and without Tour Guide don't think it's worth the slot. Snowchugger is direct support to mech mage and a good card in general that could fit the 2 mana slot, tempo wise.

It seems they REALLY want us to play nothing but Big Spell Mage only, because it's the only archetype which had support (and by support I mean A LOT of it). Secret Mage got also some love, but it has anything to do with the current expansion, probably will be something for the upcoming ones.

As I said, overall very good changes, but they don't seem to know what to do with Mage...

Hearthstone’s product teams are assholes. I don’t think devs are to blame here at all.
This is awesome, but probably won’t be added to the game. It’s just not profitable. T

Honestly, this game bored me extremely fast. Downloaded it and spent some bucks for the nostalgic feel of playing with Dark Magicians and the Egiptian God. But meta-wise, it sucks. If some of the decks on Hearthstone on the past year felt like solo-mode, MAN, you guys don't know. Every game of Yugi feels like seeing 8 hours of stream of Mage or Warlock unnerfed Questlines, except that every turn of that stream is joined into a massive neverending turn.

I think Yugi is pretty much unfixable. They really screwed it up. The only way to make it balanced and less solo mode would be to actually forget years of cards, ban them all and start from scratch lol. Very sad, there was one time when Yugi was the best TCG.

I really dislike this card from a flavor perspective. What the hell is mage doing with Mechs? Mages grow themselves gills, invoke giant water elementals, put themselves in an air bubble or even transform into an aquatic demon from another dimension. But not mechs.

I know mech mage was a thing on GvG before anyone say it. But justifying a mistake with a past mistake isn't valid.

And specially mechs like this one. I'd buy it if these mechs had crazy transform effects or were fueled by arcane magic. But this is not the case. This is a warrior card. From every perspective.

I think this game just got released and right now has the best economy in all of the TCG in the market BY FAR. It's insane how much resources you generate (although that could be a business decision given the release).

The 1 card = 3 cards of the same rarity is pretty healthy and reasonable. Most of the games have a ratio of at least 4. And the required resources for generating each card is very low (only 30) so it's quite easy to accumulate enough points from the rewards you get by the rewards track (don't know how it's called)

Regarding yugi mechanics. I believe that since they don't seem to like the idea of adding a Mulligan, they really should print better draw options for control decks, and limit a little bit how much agro decks can cycle. Some matches feel like if you had a bad hand, you lost at turn 1 or 2. No skill cap there, just RNG.

That rocket card may be one of the funniest and best design I've seen at the moment! Awesome.

Awesome. I really missed Yugi but current games sucked. This seems awesome. It'd be awesome if you guys start posting about it frequently.

AWESOME NEWS. This will be a good thing for Blizzard as a whole, not only for Hearthstone. Lots of people will get fired though. Blizzard needs a BIG cleanup and increase delivery time A LOT. It's incredible how slow they are. Many people putting stones on the wheel and pretending that they are working.

For example, Overwatch "2" isn't even a sequel, it's an expansion (let's be honest). It was announced on 2019, but probably development started some time before. An expansion like that should take 2 to 3 years for a company as big as Blizz. And all points out to it being delayed AGAIN another year. If 'd be on charge I'd do a serious cleanup on the teams. Probably the problem is that they have lots of unneeded bosses and subdivisions that slow things up a lot, with people from the business taking decisions based on "I personally think" other than on data, facts and value focus.

Yes, last thing wasn't an argument. That's why I said personally.

The reason I think they should ban at least quest warrior it's mainly to how unfun and unoriginal is that 3 supposedly different game modes have the exact same deck.

Balance in a game like this shouldn't only be used for fixing broken stuff and powering up what's weak. It should be used also for the fun factor, for how frustrating is to play always against that same card or deck. This has been done in the past. Not something new what I say.

But don't you think that's unhealthy that 3 separate game modes have almost exactly the same deck? Duels can be competitive and also different. It's just a business decision what needs to be taken. The game mode can be competitive with questlines or without questlines. The main fact here is that questlines are unfun (and specially on a game mode like Duels)

I personally think quest lines deserve the Genn and Baku approach. Making them in standard was a huge mistake. But that's just personal opinion.

They should ban quest lines on Duels. You play Duels for having fun and playing crazy stuff. Not for facing the same standard/wild deck...

I would keep playing this game if the designers were as awesome as the community designers are.

If Blizzard made this card, it wouldn't have the cost drawback, summon 2 treants instead of one and it would be a 4/6 because WHY NOT.

My main line of thought with this is that they purposely release broken stuff for hyping you into spending money on packs haha. Otherwise it seems hard to believe to me that they can be THAT dumb.
