Can’t see a world where an opponent can reliably kill this in one shot if you drop it on turn 2. Even if they do, you’re making them waste a good spell/minion on a 2-mana 1/4 so that’s usually a net positive.
It’s good from turn 5 onwards and the fact that it doesn’t need a combo to trigger is kind of a big deal. It will see play even if it’s inferior to Eviscerate because it’s the only option Rogues will have.
Insane card. Not only is it guaranteed to be a 0-mana draw 2 for spell Mages but even in a regular deck it’s highly likely to refresh at least 2 mana crystals on average. I can’t think of a scenario where it’s not worh the risk.

It gives you +4 attack by turn 10 actually (still not worth waiting though)
