If they're playing a combo deck, and you Dredge one of their combo pieces and make it cost a few mana extra, that's game-winning.
Yeah that's true... Although I don't have in mind which combo's have one offs of something that is less than 6 mana... I'm not saying there isn't any, just that I can't think of any right now.
I would think that, in general, if you look to disrupt (again talking wild) dirty rat would normally be better.
Drown looks very strong. And as it's a shadow spell I can put it in my raza shadow priest deck. I really missed entomb in that deck, so drown will fit the spot very nicely.
The dredge for your opponent looks like and interesting mechanic, but more than an anti-agro tool I really can't think of anything else. Well maybe it's nice to know what kind of cards your opponent has, but as most ppl play meta decks it's typically pretty obvious anyway...
What is the best way to play dirty rat? Just put him out there and let the chips fall where they may, hoping to ruin your opponent's battlecry? or ONLY play him when you have some board control card in hand?
Next to what Swizard is saying you also want to try and use rat the moment your opponent is likely to have a combo piece/necessary battlecry in hand. The moment when that's the case is difficult to estimate and greatly depends on the deck, but in general combo decks need to have drawn/played a lot of cards before they have there combo pieces in hand. But waiting too long is not good so you got to find the balance/"read" your opponents hand...
This is my go-to deck since it came out in the frozen throne expansion. As f2p you don't have so much options so you kinda look what class and playstyle you have fun with and this was the one for me. Have been mostly playing it since (well had a 2 year gap somewhere). I do have a different variant on it though which is a bit more flexible when it comes to the combo because I found rat/the big murloc always found spawn of shadows somehow and I didn't always draw anduin in time so I made a shadow raza hybrid I guess. In my opinion adding Voidtouched Attendant is really helping dish out massive amounts of damage (3 ticks with voidtouched up is already 6 more damage than without).
My current iteration is:

It could possibly use more optimizations here and there. It's at the moment strongly geared toward agro as that's the most I'm currently facing (what else is new).
I would really dislike that they would need to nerf switcheroo because of wild... In standard it's a fair card I feel which makes for some nice plays. Why not just nerf boar? Charge on a 1 mana will always limit design space I would say...
This early, Mecha-Shark and Switcheroo feels like potential nerf targes. Also, discover is super strong with this limited card pool, I think I discovered 4 new The Leviathan in the same game. But I haven't played a lot tbh.
I had a game recently where I played 4 Gaia, the Techtonic and I don't really think a single one of the four was from my deck
And that is one of the most annoying things with mech mage now. It's bad enough to deal with a t6 or t7 Gaia, but to deal with another one at t8... Now I'm not playing a T1 deck by far, but this feels like impossible to beat... Even when I get 2 7/7s online by t4/5 Vs an empty board I still get swarmed the turn after and get completely destroyed
All I am seeing is mech mage and even when I am able to clear the board 4 times (which is pretty difficult as Reno priest nowadays) they pull a board out of there arse with discover/mana cheat... And this had now happened 4 consecutive matches... Pretty certain I go back to wild pretty soon, at least all the board clears I need over there ..
Dragon Priest was one of the few Priest decks I liked to play in the past. :)
I would love to play Dragon Priest again - but this list... I can't see, what the point of playing Dragon Priest should be.
It is no aggro deck, it is no combo deck, it is no control deck, it is no "big minion" deck... what is the way this deck wants to win realistically?
If a deck wants to be good in Hearhtstone nowadays it must have "unfair elements". This decks looks "way to fair" for me for 2022.
It's a midrange deck I guess where you try to steal your opponents win-con. I'm trying to roll it in a Reno shell, maybe using the quest as an additional win-con, but let's see how the meta will go.
Thanks for this great overview. As one of the few who still plays raza priest in wild (some iterations I have is a dragon variant and a lyra variant) I will most certainly try to get one of them to work with Reno. Probably my first is a dragon Reno and second a Naga/Lyra Reno... No idea if it will work, but I'm certain I'm going to have fun trying to make it work!
Man that was good. Finally beat an armour/mechatun druid with my razakus priest. He did armour up (to +170 armor, not an amazing number) but I dirty ratted his mechatun... Than he had nothing to play and I had tons of value from kazakus and zephyr .. after going down to 80 armor+30 hp he gave up. Felt good to finally beat one at his own game
Nature spells for Priest? Multicaster confirmed :^)
Sounds decent, but I wonder how good it is in practice. Are there any decks right now that live and die by playing more than one copy of a single minion? Otherwise this is just an overpriced Nether
With an old keyword coming back, I wonder if it wouldn't be recruit... That would be a great combination with the collosal keyword. Although flavor wise I don't really feel it's fitting too much (recruiting a big monster feels a bit ... weird)
Raza Priest used to be a personal favorite of mine before it couldn't keep up anymore. Definetely going to try it again, adapted to the current meta. Can't imagine it ever beating a Druid or Shaman though.
Yeah I personally like my list so far. The addition of Voidtouched Attendant is actually pretty good and allows for more flexibility and/or damage dealt when you don't have all your other pieces in place. Have won quite a couple of matches because of that flexibility. Actually shaman and druid are indeed not the best matchups (the moment druid pulls it's infinite armor combo and you couldn't stall it with rat you are death, same for Shaman). In those matchups play (as much as possible) as agro, ignoring as much as possible face damage they deal to you. It's winnable, but depends on the draw of both sides and can be difficult.

I suggest removing Soul Mirror. Having few cards between the highest cost card in your deck and Reno Jackson is very important when you run Polkelt. It essentially puts you turn timer before a full heal against aggro
Yeah I did remove soul mirror although it felt good to have it. Polkelt will indeed draw you reno in (at least) 3 turns and foldring tutors reno the moment it gets killed, both making good tutor's. Actually dealing with heavy agro is not too bad with the decklist as mind spike allows you to keep some control over the board while stalling with the other cards. Probably a couple of different ways to go with the list, but I like this so far.

and I doubt the average wild player will see it coming as it has been over a year since Raza Priest has been viable.
Well I actually feel this makes the climb a lot easier as people assume a different play style, especially when they see mind spike t1. After 2 years I had to get used a couple of days to the new cards (honestly the power creep is ridiculous, who thought giving pirate warrior this much draw was a good idea is an idiot ;-)) But most wild players I encounter (except for shudderwock shaman) seem to play with last 2 years of cards mostly so them getting used to me is more difficult than vice-versa I guess ;-)
If you start playing raza priest let me know what list you will use, curious about it :)
EDIT: just had the most frustrating game where literally my pokelt, foldring and raza (in that order) were my bottom 3 cards and it costed me the game. But that's rng for you haha (had some games were pokelt has helped certainly)
Yes definitely, he is very strong to put your main combo pieces and Reno Jackson on top. I’d take out Soul Mirror to include him.
THanks for the reply, I'm testing him out and let's see how it goes. First couple of matches I was a bit unlucky with him (starting in my opening hand is not ideal as you don't want this before t8 typically. But let's see how it continues. I am wondering if I should keep Fordring in, but on the other hand it's a certain Reno pull, which should be able to save you t5/6 from agro...
I came back 1 month ago to hs after 2 years and had some small updates to my raza priest list with some new cards. Already got to diamond 5 last season (and probably will be there again in couple of days)
Now I am wondering if I should craft Lorekeeper Polkelt? What do you think, will it help the winrate of the deck or be an extra "do nothing" high mana card? The dust is not a big issue as I have 11600 of it. What would you take out if you would include him?

For the first time in 2 years I'm missing daily quests because of this bug. I'mgoing to take a break from the game and probably will stop playing altogether. Gg blizzard

Euhm the card is banned from wild completely...
Well the switcheroo nerf will put silence priest back to dumpster.. at least I believe it will have too little tools to survive.
The kazakusan nerf feels like a good thing though and maybe it allows me to play Reno dragon priest in standard ..
I would really dislike that they would need to nerf switcheroo because of wild... In standard it's a fair card I feel which makes for some nice plays. Why not just nerf boar? Charge on a 1 mana will always limit design space I would say...

I so hope they don't change switcheroo in standard. I finally made silence priest (sort of) work with it. If it's nerged it will be dumbster again...
But honestly why not change the boar to eg rush? It just feels it limits design space too much...

Boar priest would hate this so much...
