I occasionally play against myself using my daughter's account and the "Borrow decks" function in order to learn how to win difficult or particularly annoying matchups. It's actually a great way to recognize the problems the opponent is facing and it often gives useful information about reasonable winning strategies.
In fact, I think I would be ok with a lot of card generation in the game as long as I knew what cards the opponent got. In my opinion, showing the Discover options (or even the chosen card) to both players would solve many if not all of the problems.
Actually, as they have stated it you will still be 15 stars from your previous rank when your star bonus has been used up, but reasonably close I guess. Also, although I haven't read anything about it, an interesting consequence of this system must be that when you get to those 15 stars and start getting matched by rank rather than MMR, you can only face players at the same or at a lower skill level (since those at higher skill levels will still be matched by MMR in that section of the ladder).
No that's not correct, in that case your star bonus will be decided by MMR, not by your rank the previous month. If you skip playing one month there will be some MMR decay, but (as I understand it), not that much.
